NOT FUN

That’s about all I have to say about THAT.

  1. Complications??????? Please don’t say that. Sigh… Right now I’m in a LOT of pain. The Vicodin is barely taking the edge off and seems to wear off way before I’m allowed to take more. I knew this wouldn’t be fun, but. UGH. It stinks.

  2. Oh, I’m saying a prayer for you, Jo-Lynne!

Congratulations on the Parenting Squad, too. Great article! I can totally relate.

  3. If you’re talking about the wisdom teeth, I can empathize. My husband had his pulled a little over 2 years ago, all 4– and they had to be cut out, like you described yours as being… it totally stunk.

    For a really long time.

    And then he had complications.

    For over two months.

All that to say, I hear you and I hope your recovery time is FAR shorter and FAR less complicated than his.

Rest, put your feet up, and get some new music on iTunes or something! 🙂

  4. Thanks, everyone for your kind thoughts.

Jenn, I did that. He said that “pain is relative” and nothing will take it all away.

    DUH. I’m sure he thinks I’m being a whiny-butt.

I’m not a wimp when it comes to pain. I can deal with moderate pain. But when the Vicodin wears off after two hours, it’s EXCRUCIATING.

He said I can take 3 Advil in between the Vicodin, so that’s what I’m doing.

Eating and talking makes it worse too, so I’m a real barrel of laughs tonight! Thank goodness for Survivor and LOST!!!

  5. Pain medicine always makes me feel kind of nauseous, so I don’t take it. That said, if you can tolerate meds okay why not call your dentist and ask for something stronger?

  6. Oh JoLynne I can’t believe you did that without a sedative! I had all four done when I was in high school and I was knocked out with a sedative. All four were impacted and laying sideways right up againt the bone. I also remember I barfed later that night, which is not fun when you have gauze stuff in big gaping holes in your mouth.

Is Vicodin as strong as Percoset? Cuz the percs worked awesome for me after the C-section and I *might* know where you could get some….just sayin’.

  7. ARGH! I stuff wet teabags on my little craters when I had mine out. Supposedly that helps cut down on the pain. I have no idea why, though. I hope you can get some sleep tonight and wake up feeling a bit better tomorrow. Sorry!

  8. My wisdom teeth came out when I was in 9th grade. All four of them were bony impactions and a bear to get out. When I came home I looked like a walrus. I had cotton balls coming out of my mouth and was so swollen. I found that putting lots of ice on my jaw bones and taking the maximum amount of ibuprofen helped me.

I had complications, but they were unrelated to the wisdom teeth coming out. I had an allergic reaction to the penicillin they put me on after. Nothing like mouth sores after oral surgery.

Take it easy and listen to your body and rest if you need to.

  9. Oh no 🙁 Poor you. I had mine out and remember how awful it was. Just keep taking whatever they let you take. If it were me, I’d prolly call the dr and ask for the strongest stuff he can give me. It does feel like it is lasting forever, but it WILL go away !!

Hope it is much better tomorrow!

  10. If your dentist is downplaying your pain you need to changes dentists! That makes me so mad when they do that. I’d like to haul four of their teeth out with a jackhammer and see how they feel!!!! (can you tell dentists aren’t my favorite people?)

  11. I hope you’re feeling a bit better today. I was fortunate to have mine out in the years before children. All I had to do for days afterwards was take care of my sorry self. I can’t imagine having to carry on with normal life right now after having them out. Good for you!
