On This Thanksgiving Day . . .

thanksgiving

With all the hustle and bustle and the turkey and the pies and hubbub about retail hours, I hope you get the chance today to take a moment to stop and meditate on everything you have to be thankful for.

I am happy to say that I’m taking the day off to spend with family and friends and focus on the reason for this almost-forgotten holiday. After all, it’s not about who has the tastiest turkey or the most creative tablescape or the best deal on an iPad. There is time for all that tomorrow.

Let’s not let Thanksgiving get lost in the scramble. Our pianist played this chorus on Sunday during Communion, and I thought the words were so very appropriate.

Thank you oh my father,
For giving us your son,
And leaving your spirit,
’til the work on earth is done.

Christian lyrics – THERE IS A REDEEMER – KEITH GREEN

I pray you and your family have a blessed Thanksgiving Day!

  1. Happy Thanksgiving Jo-Lynne to you and your family! I know that you have been through a lot lately, and I just wanted you to know that you are an amazing person, and a blogging inspiration. Have a wonderful day, and a great weekend!

  2. Thanks so much for sharing the wonderful Keith Green song. I have always loved that particular song, but had not heard it in a long time. It was just what I needed today. Such a good reminder to be thankful for the most precious gift, our Redeemer.
