Pattern Mixing: Stripes & Leopard

Happy Wednesday! Does anyone else feel like it should be Friday already? This has been a full week, and it’s not even half done. Whew!

These pictures are all a bit shadowy, but I love this look so I’m posting them anyway. I’m a bit of a plain Jane, so this is admittedly a subtle take on this trend, but I decided it was time to try some pattern mixing.

This black and white striped top is from Le Tote. (If you’re unaware, LeTote is a rental box service — you get a box of clothes and accessories in the mail to wear as much as you want. When you return them, you get another box OR you can purchase any of the pieces you can’t bear to part with.)

I loved this top the instant I opened my box. Black and white is timeless and chic, plus the deep scoop neck is super flattering for ladies who are, ahem, more well-endowed. Add to that, the subtle shaping through the waist, and the two different stripe patterns on the front and back, and this top is just too cute to send back. I might have to make this one mine.

I had just received my HauteLook order from the DL1961 event, and these destructed black skinny jeans were begging to be paired with this black and white striped top. The leopard flats just seemed like the right thing to do.

I had fun accessorizing too. I decided to wear this layered geometric necklace to fill the neckline, and then I paired a chic double wrap bracelet with an edgy cluster studded bracelet. The pave chevron ring finishes off the look.

This is such an easy everyday look that is super easy to copy at any price point. You may even have most of these items in your closet.

  1. Great Look….the shirt is definitely a keeper and looks good on you. Anything leopard is always a plus for me.

    Enjoy your day 🙂

  2. Love the striped top. I have one very similar and I have cheetah flats in my closet so I might put the same outfit together.
I just received my first LeTote using your link, so you should get credit.

  3. Great look Jo-Lynne! And I would not under any circumstance describe you as a plain Jane! I get so many outfit ideas from you. 🙂 I’ve been using LeTote for quite awhile and love getting that box every month!

  4. Yes!! I agree it should be Friday already! lol We’ve almost made it though! Looking forward to the weekend, as my six year old granddaughter is coming for a sleepover. 🙂

I love the black and white top. It’s very flattering on you! Also loving the chevron ring! May need to put that on my Christmas list! 😉

  5. I really enjoy your posts! I know you have talked about premium denim before but can you tell me which jeans are your favorites or go-to jeans. I’m looking for just a basic dark blue high-quality pair. Thanks!

    1. Hey Debbie. A lot of it depends on body type. AG makes a fabulous jean. Very flattering to the rear view. 🙂 Paige does a good job – I have a pair of their classic dark wash that has help up great for years. DL1961 is super comfy and flattering – it runs a bit larger in the waist. Page and AG are better for curvy girls. Joe’s and Sevens are awesome. Really, you can’t go wrong with any of those brands. I hope that helps!

  6. This is a great outfit i wore the samething on Monday to work but i added a demin shirt. It was cold here in Dover on Monday. Also thanks for tips on premium denim. I didnt know Norstrom’s rack had at one line store found a pair of kut from the kloth jeans for $25 that’s a steal.
    Cheers
    Nicki

  7. Great outfit! I like the possibility that if I buy a pair of animal print shoes, I can wear them with more than just black and brown.
