Ruffle Cuff Sweater Dress #FashionFriday

I haven’t posted nearly enough dresses this fall, I know. I don’t wear them much, and I have a hard time finding ones I like, but this ruffle cuff sweater dress checks all the boxes.

First of all, the color is stunning, but if magenta isn’t your favorite, it also comes in grey, camel, and black. I wore it to church one Sunday and then all afternoon visiting the in-laws, and I was comfortable all day long. It holds its shape well too.

It’s soft and comfortable with just enough shape to be flattering, but it doesn’t cling, and I absolutely love the ruffle sleeve detail.

This dress is on sale at Banana Republic right now for 40% off, bringing it down to $89.40 in cart, and I’m wearing the small. It also comes in tall sizes if this length is out of your comfort zone. I’m about 5’5″, for reference.

I often get asked what I wear under dresses and how I get them not to stick to me. This slip is my secret weapon. I have a medium, and I wear it under all my dresses. I’m also wearing Spanx tights. I really like how they hold me in, and they don’t slide down.

I kept the look simple with black tights and black suede OTK boots. I might trade my boots for suede pumps if the occasion called for it, but I really like the boots with this. Knee-high boots would work too.

I accessorized with this beaded layer necklace. I like the silver and hematite tones against the magenta, and a station necklace makes a nice statement while not overwhelming the look.

I wore my wool cocoon coat over this dress the day I wore it, and it’s the perfect compliment. The grey is gorgeous with the magenta, and the styles compliment one another perfectly. Both are classic and dressy but not formal.

FYI, this coat is now 50% off — crazy but true! And it is stocked in all sizes in the grey. For reference, I have the 6. I recommend sizing down one from your normal dress size.

This outfit is a great all-winter look you could wear to church, out to dinner, and maybe even in some office settings, but it would also make a nice holiday party look for certain venues.

  1. Great outfit! Really stunning colors! Would you wear black tights with black suede pumps? Or is it best to stick with boots?

  2. Beautiful color on you.. love the dress. No need to apologize we all have had those days😉.
Have a great weekend and take some time for yourself.. that’s important this time of year.

  3. I couldn’t disappoint you and not comment since you are wearing an incredible dress, Jo-Lynne!! This one is such a winner on you. First off, the color!! OMG. I know we are different complexions but I think this is a all around flattering color. I may have to get this one since I have some BR rewards to use.

  4. Love this dress on you!  I’m not one for dresses because I don’t like my calves, but this might make me think about trying a sweater dress with the boots and tights.  And no need for an apology.  I like that you are real.  I’m with you – when technology works, it’s awesome!  When it doesn’t, it’s a pain.  Thanks for all you do!

    1. Thank you. xo And I hope you try this with the tall boots – if you don’t like your calves, that is the perfect solution. Knee high boots would work just as well, if you don’t have or like OTK boots.

      1. I am so short, I think the OTK boots would be too much, but I do have knee high and I’m really inspired now to try this!

  5. It took a bit of searching but you found a great sweater dress. The sleeve detail, the fit and color – perfect! I really like that coat, too. I just need to convince myself that I should add another piece of outerwear to my closet. 🤔

  6. Love that sweater dress on you! I was surprised though when I clicked the link as I was sure it was from White House Black Market. They have a similar one-in gray only-that has a bow in the back. It’s $98 with 40%+ off. https://www.whitehouseblackmarket.com/store/product/bowback+sweater+knit+shift+dress/570250206?color=027&catId=cat6059276

  7. Wow. You look so fabulous. You make such a gorgeous model and advertisement for this dress. And I love that you showcased it in a color that could easily work for holiday events if a girl doesn’t want to wear red ( that would be me 😊)

  8. This dress is a winner and it looks gorgeous on you! That colour is one of my favourite colours to wear in the fall and winter. Have a great weekend!

  9. We are all a lttle crazy during this season. I went to grocery store for 2 items today. After she gave me my receipt I asked where my bag was. She said in your hand. She had already given to me. Well, I felt foolish. Too much on my mind. 🙁

  10. Hey girl, no need to apologize ever. Life is busy, especially at this time of year. Your work and effort is valued and appreciated. I love your honesty and transparency. It really makes you feel like girlfriend next door. You look amazing in this dress. Happy Friday. Happy weekend.

  11. That sweater dress is gorgeous on you!! 😍

Vent away anytime!! Technology is wonderful when it works and exasperating when it doesn’t!! You weren’t ranty at all…. Hopefully you have some down time this weekend. I know I could use some. Time seems to accelerate in December.

  12. This is one of my favorites from you. That color is just absolutely gorgeous, and it pairs so beautifully with the black.
