Saturday Morning Coffee Talk

So it seems to be a theme this week . . . me getting my regular posts up late. It’s 9:30 am and I’m just starting to write this update.

I slept in this morning, which as you regulars know, I NEVER DO. Now that I don’t have morning exercise motivating me to get up early, I am finding it harder and harder to get out of bed on these COLD winter mornings.

I woke up two mornings this week to a fresh dusting of snow, which makes the bitter cold almost worthwhile. Snow makes a dreary winter so lovely, doesn’t it?? I took this picture from my car window one day this week. I love where I live!

All in all, it’s been a productive week. On Monday, my new blog design went in. If you’re reading in a feed reader, click on over and take a look-see!!!

I kind of rushed into the last design when I rebranded. I was trying to keep my colors the same as they were before to make it a smooth transition, but it ended up feeling like preschool to me. Ultimately, I think I was just ready for a change. I had that last color palette for a few years, even though we altered the design elements a few times. So I enlisted my friend Grace to work something up for me, and she came up with this. I LOVE IT.

In more mundane news, I saw my dentist on Tuesday and had two hours of dental work done on the upper right quadrant of my mouth. Now I just have to see about getting those wisdom teeth out on my left side. I had the right side done a few years ago and it was not a pleasant experience. I’m DREADING this but I know I need to get it done. Ugh.

The same day, I saw my orthopedist to check out the progress of my foot. He says this perineal tendon is a tough one to heal and I should wear the brace for three more weeks and then I can gradually start weaning off of it. And I should start PT in two weeks. So I’m eager to get moving on that!!!

I’ve been spending more time in the kitchen, and I even discovered a few new recipes that I’m dying to share with you. I am on the ball with my blogging commitments, which feels good. I really wanted to do an organizational challenge for January, but it hasn’t happened yet, and it’s already the 10th so I’m thinking that just ain’t gonna happen. But I do have some fun new features in the works, starting with a new style challenge for Valentine’s Day. Stay tuned for that!!

Let’s see, what else did I accomplish this week? We had our puppy groomed yesterday. She was getting so shaggy, but now she’s back to her pretty, dainty little self. It’s always amazing to see how small she is under all that fur. I didn’t get a picture with the bow in her hair like I wanted to. She shook it right out as soon as we got home, fickle woman that she is.

In addition to all that, I got to meet my good friend’s new baby this week, and I survived my daughter’s sleepover last night so I will call this week a success.

The weekend promises to be a slow one without any plans, my favorite kind. How about you??

  1. Isn’t it nice to have a free weekend? The holidays were SO busy for us that we had at least one event almost every single day of the 16 I had off from school. It was all fun stuff and lots of things were just in the evening so I still had a chance to relax. Today we have nothing going on so we might take drive up to Cabela’s just for fun. I keep telling my hubby that I want to take him to the PA Farm Show but at around 9:00 this morning we realized it opened today and we weren’t motivated enough to quickly get ourselves on the road for a whole-day excursion. I went there a time or two when I was a kid, having grown up in a family with farming at its roots (my mom grew up on a farm and my grandparents still farmed during my growing up years), and I thought it was a neat experience – lots of neat things to see and YUMMY food to eat. I just found out this morning that it is the largest event of its kind in America!

    Stay warm and cozy today!

  2. I knew something was up Saturday morning when I looked for your coffee talk post and it wasn’t there. Saturday is the one morning that I can usually lounge around and drink coffee and catch up on blogs before starting the day. I though oh wow, Jo-Lynne must have slept in.

I hope your foot feels better very soon!! It is so discouraging.
