Spring Stripes

Hey everyone, I have the best striped sweater to share with you today! I’ve already worn it several times and shared it on Instagram, but I also wanted to do a dedicated blog post about it because I think it’s one a lot of you will like. Happily, it’s still fully stocked!

Striped Sweater Outfit for Spring: Caslon Side Slit Sweater with Good American Good Legs High Waist Skinny Jeans and Stuart Weitzman Marabella Wedge Mules

It comes in a few solids, but I really love this striped print. The colors are so pretty for spring, and the material is thick enough to start wearing now, even if it’s still chilly in your neck of the woods.

That said, if you’re not a fan of stripes, the solid ivory and Navy Peacoat are great basics to have in your spring wardrobe, and that Blue Maui is absolutely gorgeous.

I’ve worn this sweater with white jeans and light wash denim, but for this look, I tried pairing it with dark wash skinnies. These are my Good American high waist skinnies, and I love them, but Wit & Wisdom has a similar pair for less if you’re looking for something more budget-friendly.

I like how the dark wash in the jeans draws out the navy stripes in the top, but it also creates quite a contrast against the white background of the sweater, and I feel like that highlights the fact that the sweater is a little too long on me. Otherwise I like the pairing a lot.

I’m wearing the small, and it seems to run slightly big, but I expect the sweater to take up some when I wash it and I hope that will help it fit better. It also comes in petite sizes for those of you who are 5’4″ or under. (I’m 5’5″, for reference.)

I wore two delicate necklaces to fill the v-neckline, and I added my double circle earrings. Unfortunately they just sold out in the gold, but they’re still available in silver.

I’m wearing blush wedge espadrille slides and carrying a blush colored bag because I like how they echo the pink in the sweater. My bag is old, but this one in the Pink Rosecloud is similar. Pink Dust is pretty too.

I picked up these wedges during the Shopbop sale. I had my eye on them for a while, and when I saw a chance to get them for 25% off, I took it. This brand just fits me so well, and the quality is outstanding. They’re currently 25% off at StuartWeitzman.com but they don’t have this Dolce color. The Adobe Beige is a great neutral, and the Dovetail Blue Grey is gorgeous. They also come in black.

Since they’re a splurge, I looked around and found a very similar pair by Caslon for under $100. You can see more of them in my Try On Haul yesterday. They’re comfortable, but they don’t fit as snug to the foot as the Stuarts, so my feet slide too far forward in them. There’s nothing worse than a woman wearing sandals where her toes are hanging off the end! Haha! That said, if you have thicker/wider feet, they will likely work for you.

I love this look for running around doing errands, working from home, or meeting a friend for lunch. It’s also nice for casual dinners out with the family, and that sort of thing. Or you could swap the jeans for pants and wear it to church or to work!

  1. Happy Anniversary!!  I have enjoyed following you the last couple of years.  You have cost me a small fortune trying to keep up with your style and recommendations.  Ssshhh….dont tell my husband.  Hahaha!!!!

  2. Well Happy Blogiversary!!   I’ve so enjoyed reading your blog for the past 5-6 years.  You’ve given me so many great ideas for my lifestyle!   My favs are always the causal styles with either jeans or a denim jacket.  So many ways you’ve dressed them up or down.  Cardigans have become a big part of my wardrobe now thanks to you!  I just ordered the blush one from Amazon, but without the hood, can’t wait for that to arrive!  Best wishes to you  for continued success with your blog!  It’s a tough job, and you do it with such grace and style!

    1. Happy Anniversary!🎊🍹🎉
I enjoy your down to earth, real life approach to your blog. You are very easy to relate to. Thanks for all of your hard work in keeping us fashionable and stylish.

  3. Happy Blogiversary! I have to take this opportunity to say I think you are simply the best! I follow a half-dozen “fashion over 40” blogs consistently (subscribe to the emails, etc.) and I always follow the new ones you partner with for at least a few times. The funny thing is that often they are closer to my age or body type or even style. But I love the way you describe what works and what doesn’t, and you are even willing to show us the misses! 😉 I’ve learned more about body type, proportion, color, trend, etc., from you than anyone else. Thanks…and “many more!”

  4. That is such a pretty sweater! I don’t think it looks too long on you. Have a great day! Oh, good luck with the PT for the vertigo.

  5. What size do you wear in the Wit and Wisdom Jeans? Nordstrom says to size down, I’ve never had this brand? Thank you!

  6. Happy Blogiversary!! And, congratulations on your upcoming revamp of your blog site. Anxious to see it! Very pretty striped sweater and it looks darling on you.

  7. I got the striped and the white after seeing this sweater on you on Instagram.  I agree it runs large, but I factored that in as Caslon often does.  I’m so glad you featured it!

  8. Happy Blogiversary and congratulations! I’ve been following you for I think 3+ years and I enjoy every single post you share! I love the sweater and the colors are gorgeous together!

  9. Happy Anniversary 🤗 so glad I found your blog through Cyndi. Love the sweater. Have a great day. PS I’m wearing your winter glow nail polish and 🥰

  10. I have enjoyed your blog and definitely think my style has evolved and gotten better! 🙂 Keep up the great work and Congratulations! I just purchased a pink, white, grey, and navy striped sweater – I just love it! It is on the rotation for work tomorrow. 🙂

  11. Happy Blogiversary!  It’s all been said by your other faithful followers so I’ll just add your’s is the first one I open every morning. My first cup of coffee and a little visit with Jolynne. I love your honesty and gift for sharing.

  12. Happy Anniversary! I’ve been following your blog consistently for the past couple of years. I have others that I look at but yours is what I compare everyone else to and how I start my day! I appreciate how you describe what works & what doesn’t and love your fashion commentary. I also like how real you are. I look forward to your continued growth!

  13. Happy Blogiversary! I am so enjoying reading your blog and styling tips and suggestions. So many ideas! (My nail technician didn’t have Winter Glow, so she created something so similar by using 2 different colors, 2 coats of one, then a third coat of the other. Turned out great!) Your descriptions of the items you choose are so helpful, and I love that you wear the clothes. Some blogs I have looked at (and I just started following a few fashion blogs) have nice clothes, but the photos are from the clothing website. So, the problem of seeing an item on a size 0 age 20 something just isn’t helpful to me. I can see how clothing looks on a normal person (albeit you are younger than I am). Looking forward to seeing the new website!

  14. I have learned so much and like everyone, I have my coffee with you every day! I even had to look “really hard” but I get why you think that sweater is too big. I was around the last time you changed the the blog, so very happy blogiversary! Thanks for keeping up your good work and sharing it with all your followers. Your attention to detail and description mean a lot and no one else does it better.

    1. Yeah, it’s not really that big — more too long than anything, but there’s some room for it to take up a bit around the arms and torso. I need to throw it in the washer and see how it looks afterwards.

  15. Happy Blogiversary!  Thanks for sharing your life and fashion with us.  I’ve learned a lot!  Thanks for keeping it so real, too.  It really does feel like I’m opening an email from a friend every morning.  This is such a cute springy sweater.  You cannot go wrong with stripes!

  16. Happy Blogiversary! I have learned so much in the 3 years I have been following you, Thank you so much and congratulations!

  17. Happy Anniversary!!! You have evolved and getting better and better! I look at your email each morning before I decide what to wear myself each day. lol     I can not thank you for all the hard work you put in your blog week after week. You have helped me more then words can say. 😀

  18. Love the current blog. Please don’t go changing too much. I realize you are trying to make a living too but pushing out can be a problem too. Right now it all feels great # just saying

  19. Jo-Lynne – Happy Blogiversary! I so much enjoy your emails each and every day! I appreciate your enthusiasm, your honesty, and sharing detailed info about products and fit! It all is so helpful! Keep doing what you do best! Have a blessed day!!

  20. Happy blog anniversary! I look forward to reading your daily blog. In the past you recommended a lipstick I like, which is no longer made., Sonia Karshuk Roseberry. Do you have a recommendation for something similar?
    Thank you.

  21. Happy Anniversary!  I lost quite a bit of weight last year and was not sure what to wear that was stylish and would look good on my body type.  You certainly took care of that for me!  I look forward to your daily blogs.  My closet is full of fun things because of you and Cyndi!  You obviously enjoy what you do.  Thank you for dressing me!!!  Haha!

  22. This outfit is so cute, and it really says spring!
I’m a big fan of this sweater – have it in pink – and highly recommend it.
It seems that blush is the new neutral in accessories – very pretty!

  23. Happy blogiversary!  I have been following you for about 2 1/2 years and you and your blog have been such a blessing to me.  Thank you for all your hard work.  I’m thinking by now that you have radically curbed the number of mom-jeans out there! 😜

  24. Happy Blogiversary!  I enjoy your blog and your style of writing.  It’s like spending time with a girl friend.  I hope you have many more years of doing what you so clearly love😍

  25. Happy Blogversary! So glad I found you on Pinterest a few years ago. I didn’t realize you’d been blogging so long! I tried to start a teacher blog a few years back but never had the time to really get it going (I truly understand how blogging can be a full time job!) My job is so time consuming as it is that my only time to blog was between 8:00-9:00 pm at night and at that point I’m usually so exhausted and half asleep that I felt out of steam and couldn’t give it my 110%. ! 🤣

About that sweater…… You look really good in stripes …..for me it’s hit or miss. I love the look of stripes sooooo much but when I put them on near my face I feel blah. I likevwjen there is a solid color near my face and stripes lower down if that makes sense.  Oh well, that sweater is great for me in the navy! 😊

  26. Congratulations on your anniversary! I agree wholeheartedly with several other commenters. I look to your blog to really dig into and enjoy and your style is probably the one I follow the most. Also enjoy family updates as I have 3 kids similar ages and experiences to yours. Congrats again!
