Status Update

I’m thinking this is a good day for a list.

1. The good news is, my neck is no worse.  The bad news is, it is no better.  So while I am thankful that I haven’t the need for injections or chiropractory at this point, I am hoping that it doesn’t decide to up and worsen right when this impending snowstorm hits our fair city, some time this afternoon or tonight.

2. While my neck seems to be no worse for the wear, I can’t say the same for my knee, which I gracefully nailed on the doorway yesterday. It hurts every time I move it.  To which my husband would likely say, “So don’t move it.”  Yeah, m’kay.

3. Perhaps this is as good a time as any to announce that I am speaking at Blissdom again this year! WOO!  I’m speaking on Wednesday at the Wisdom Workshops on the hyper local panel. I pitched this panel to Blissdom because of my work on Eat Local Philly and because hyper local is such an up and coming niche in the blogging world.  I actually have big plans to expand Eat Local Philly to other cities, and I’ll fill you in as soon as I know more.  If you have considered starting a blog dedicated to local foods in your area and would like to be a part of a bigger network of similar blogs, please let me know!!

4. Speaking of upcoming blogging events and travel, and by association, Nashville and the famed Opryland Hotel, I am excited to be taking a quick trip to Music City the weekend BEFORE Blissdom (yes, I’m going to Nasvhille TWICE this month!!) to CAbi’s The Scoop — the launch of their Spring 2011 Collection. I get to travel with my good friend Whitney and meet up with some other mom bloggers to cover the event and to get a sneak peek of the new Spring 2011 clothes line.

Gotta give major props to my husband, who told me to go after I had immediately declined, assuming two trips in one month was ridiculous. He’s really supportive, and I can’t begin to say how much I appreciate that. And also, my mom is coming up to help, so thanks Mom!

5. I feel like there should be a fifth. Anyone got a fifth? I can’t end on a 4. My OCD is protesting.

Oh here ya go.  I just checked the extended forecast.  Snow, snow and more snow.  AND ICE.  I should be okay getting to and from Nashville for CAbi but the week of Blissdom is looking really dicey.  I may just have to stay through both weeks.  Ha!  Wouldn’t my family love THAT.

This post needs a picture, but I don’t think I’ve dusted off my new camera since I got home from Virginia, even though I’ve had some great photo opps with all this snow we’ve had.

Oh well.

  1. Boo to the neck and knee, but cool beans on the other fronts! I’m not familiar with Cabi, but I’m off to look it up now. I’m a big fan of your fashion posts so I look forward to hearing about it {if} you get home. 😉 Didn’t you get stuck at Blissdom last year, too?

    1. Yes! I would much rather get stuck in Nashville unable to get home, than to be stuck at home unable to get to Nashville. I’m crossing fingers and toes that I don’t miss anything!!

  2. Aw- I’m sorry you are hurting. I hope you feel better soon!

My husband and I took our honeymoon to Opryland hotel- we were going to go for our anniversary last June since we live outside of Nashville now and it would be an easy little romantic trip, but there was that whole flood thing…. Anyway- they recently had a great deal on a junior suite through Groupon, so we are going this weekend for a weekend alone. woot!

  3. Oh, you will be perfect for the wisdom workshop! What a great session topic!! And I hope you have so much fun in Nashville! Hubbies are great- I just turned down a full sponsorship to Blissdom and hubs was trying to get me to take it! It’s just not the right timing for me. I wish… so next year!

  4. Glad the neck is status quo, though bad news about the knee. Yes, how do you not bend it? And if you walk stiff legged, doesn’t that sometimes lead to other issues? And, I’m really liking this font on the comments!

I’m looking forward to the snow because just maybe I’ll spend some time planning. I keep saying I’ll think about marketing what I’m doing and figure out how to rebrand my blog to fit with what I’m doing now, but some emergency like a poopy diaper or something else keeps coming up. I’m impatient to get moving, yet I know these kids will be little for such a short time.

  5. Glad to hear the neck is no worse but sad to hear it is no better either and that sucks about the knee. And the Don’t move comment is so something my husband would have said, then later ‘innocently’ ask me to get him something.

Good luck in Nashville I am so jealous!! Hope you make it and even possibly get snowed in because honestly who wouldn’t love to spend a week in Nashville with no kids and husband. Talk about a vacation.

  6. Looking forward to the snowstorm here tomorrow. Good excuse to lay low with my kiddos as I recover from rotavirus – UGH. Supportive hubbies rock. Mine took off the last two days from work to take care of me and the girls. Tomorrow too – I am still out of commission. But well enough now to catch up on my fave blogs as I lie in bed!

  7. Have you heard about trigger point therapy? I have an chronic aching neck and tried some of my own trigger point therapy with a small ball yesterday. Throughout the day today the stiffness and pain began to disappear. I’m not 100%, but anything is better than what I had!! Good luck to you!!
