Staying in Shape with Style: Fitbit Blaze Fitness Watch

Staying in Shape with Style: Susan Graver Liquid Knit Tank with black skinny pants and Fitbit Blaze Fitness Watch

I’ve been using a Fitbit off and on for the past year or so as a means of motivating myself to move more. On the days that I don’t run or work out, I’m lucky if I get 3,000 steps in (the recommended goal is 10,000!!!) Those of you who have desk jobs can relate, I’m sure. My Fitbit has become a great motivator that I desperately need.

I’d been using a Fitbit Flex, which worked fine, but it’s pretty basic. It counts my steps and syncs with the Fitbit app on my phone so I can participate in challenges with friends, but that’s about all it does.

QVC recently sent me the Fitbit Blaze Fitness Watch to try out, and I’m completely smitten. For one thing, it has a watch. I missed wearing a watch when I was wearing my Fitbit Flex. (I found it too cumbersome to wear both.)

But the Fitbit Blaze does sooooo much more than just track your steps and tell time. For example, you can set it to get notified when you have emails, texts, or phone calls.

It also has a timer – you can choose Stop Watch or Countdown.

When you go to exercise, you don’t have to rely on the automatic activity tracker (although you can if you want.) But you can also select the sport of your choice and see your progress on the display, or you can even connect it with the GPS on your smartphone to map out your route and get real-time stats like pace and distance, thus eliminating the need for a GPS sports watch or an additional fitness app on your smartphone.

It even tracks your heart rate.

The clock on the home screen shows your progress towards your daily goal so you can keep track of where you are, and like all Fitbit devices, it syncs with your smartphone so you can join challenges with friends and co-workers. Personally, it is these challenges that really keep me motivated. I’m competitive, so when I’m in a challenge, I definitely work harder to get my steps in.

The Fibit Blaze is unisex, and it comes in 2 sizes — Small and Large. The band is adjustable, so between the two sizes, there is one to fit almost anyone. I have the Small, and it fits me perfectly. The one that I received comes with a black band and one additional band in a color of your choice — plum or blue. I chose the plum because I thought it would compliment a lot of my fall and winter outfits.

The band is lightweight and comfortable, and even though the watch is fairly large, I feel like it’s attractive. Large menswear-inspired watches are trendy right now so it’s actually a fun accessory as well as a functional piece of technology.

For a classier look, you can purchase the Fitbit Blaze Link Bracelet or the Fitbit Blaze Leather Band in Black, Grey, or Camel. I might order the Camel, actually. I think it would look really nice against the black face and silver hardware.

I styled an outfit provided by QVC to show you how nice the Fitbit Blaze looks with one of my everyday looks. First, I chose this Knit Tank with Ring Detail. This top is super flattering, and it comes in three colors — Sapphire, Black, and “Candy Apple.” I chose the Sapphire, obviously!

I really love this color. It is gorgeous with white jeans, but I also thought it made a nice work wear look with black skinny pants. I’m actually wearing jeans (these SkinnyJeans 2 at QVC are similar) but with ponte pants, this outfit would be perfect for an office environment.

I like how the top is sleeveless without showing too much skin, and it covers the bra straps completely, making it appropriate for work or church. It has just enough structure through the waist to keep it flattering without being tight. Throw a blazer or cardigan on over top, and it will take you well into fall. For size reference, I’m wearing a Small.

I also picked out these Sole Society Closed Toe Wedges. These are so, so, so cute. I can see wearing these with so many outfits, and they’re as adorable with skirts and dresses as they are with jeans. In fact, I wore them to church on Sunday with a black dress. They’re only $41, and they come in the black and white stripe, leopard, or solid taupe.

When the Fitbit came out a few years ago, I thought it would be a passing fad, but it is definitely here to stay so I’m pleased to see them coming out with new innovative products that combine fitness technology and style.

  1. Yes I like it – great post! That blue color is very flattering to you. I’m going to checkout that Fitbit. 🙂

  2. It’s funny that you highlighted QVC and Susan Graver this morning as I’m watching Susan’s show RIGHT NOW (Thursday 10:30am)! I have several of her liquid knit cardigans and her leggings are top notch! I only started shopping QVC about 2 years ago and I’m hooked! I’ve also purchased shoes and handbags thru QVC, never disappointed! Love your watch! Is this similar to the Apple Watch??

  3. Love the outfit and fitness watch. I still use my flex but maybe I’ll splurge for the watch. Your shoes are so cute. Did you order your size or size down/up?

  4. I just ordered the Fitbit Blaze!! I hope I like it! ???? I’m a runner & am tired of using my phone to track my runs, so I’m excited about all the features of this!! Thanks for the info!

  5. I have had the FitBit Blaze for a 2-3 months now and I’m totally addicted to it! I even wear it to bed so it tracks my sleep! I actually hate taking it off to charge it or even take a shower because I feel like I’m losing steps!! ???????? I bought the leather band in camel and have received numerous compliments – people mistake it for an IPhone watch!

  6. thanks so much for the info
Iam in a fitness challenge at work . Each week
    Eight winners get fitbit blaze…
Few weeks to go I hope I win!
You look great as always … Love the blue color
    And shoes!

  7. Thank so much for sharing about this fitbit. I bought one too after being on the fence. Love it so far. I find myself more motivated to go to bed on time knowing that the Blaze is tracking my sleep, lol. I would really love it if you would share more about how you use yours. (Maybe on Snap) Are you in any groups or challenges? Does it do a good job of mapping and tracking your runs?
Thanks again for taking the time to share about this. Great collab choice!

    1. Hey Kelly! It’s good to hear from you. I do have a few challenges that I join each week with friends. I haven’t actually tried it for mapping and tracking runs, although I keep meaning to. I still use my Runkeeper app because I want to keep the history I have on there. I do love how it tells me when I have a phone call coming in or a text message or alert. I love that I can look down and determine whether or not I need to go grab my phone. 🙂
