Sunday Morning #CoffeeTalk

coffee-talk-2015

I feel like I’ve been kind of distant lately, keeping to myself, posting about fashion and food and not really sharing much. That’s sort of the way I’ve been feeling. Not much like talking, keeping things light and fluffy. And I am sort of obsessed at the moment with pretty Instagram accounts and designing my PSMM website.

There is so much ugly in the world right now, sometimes I just want to marinate in the beautiful pictures I see online and pretend that everyone is good and kind. Plus, I’m just tired.

We’re staying close to home this weekend, which is exactly what I needed. I love to travel and see new places and experience new things, but the older I get, there is nothing I enjoy more than hanging out in the comfort of home.

On Friday night, we hung out with neighbors on their patio. (That’s my goofy husband photobombing my otherwise serene picture.)

Last night, we went out to dinner with friends at Wyebrook Farm. This was our view. Not too shabby, eh?

Today we have our regular church activities, and tomorrow we’re hosting a small cookout. I even had time to do a little shopping yesterday, so it’s shaping up to be the perfect Memorial Day Weekend as far as I’m concerned.

There are so many things I have in mind to blog about, I just can’t get to them all. I have some new beauty finds I want to tell you about, a couple of drink recipes I’m working on, and a fun 4th of July style collab that I’m planning with Cyndi. I’ve started hiring out some of my more mundane tasks so I have more time to write and create — you know, the fun stuff.

What else is new… Oh, yes! I tried a new hairdresser this week. I was nervous, but I have a salon I’ve been going to for facials and mani/pedis, so I decided to try them for my hair. Locals, it’s Eden Day Spa and Salon, if you’re curious. I highly recommend it. I’ve been going in regularly, and I’ve been thrilled with every service that I’ve had there.

I had the best shampoo and head massage of my life. I swear, she massaged my head for 10 minutes when she was washing out the color. PLUS the shampoo chairs recline so you can put your feet up, AND they have the mechanical massage, like pedicure chairs. I was laying there thinking, I better like this haircut because this is the ONLY girl I want shampooing my hair for the rest of my time here on earth.

The good news is, I love my haircut, and what’s more, I think I like my color better than the last place I was going, and that was actually the part I was most nervous about. Dark hair is tricky. It can turn out red and brassy or like black shoe polish — neither of which is a desirable outcome. I know, it’s just hair, it grows, blah blah blah… but humor me, would you? These things affect me. Like majorly. Call me vain if you want, but that’s the fact of the matter.

Oh, so here it is.

It probably doesn’t look dramatically different front-on, but she actually cut quite a lot off the back and stacked it so it has more volume, and then she angled it so it’s longer in the front. Overall, I think it has a little more pizzaz, and if nothing else, I was about two weeks overdue for a healthy trim and color refresh.

If you missed it, I posted a Memorial Day Menu yesterday. Check it out if you need any last minute recipe ideas. And if you’re shopping the sales this weekend, here are my top picks from Nordstrom and Athleta. Oh yeah, and it’s Dot Dollars time again at Stella & Dot! For every $50 you spend, you get $25 to spend at a later date. Plus until 5/25, you will receive an additional 25% off already reduced sale products, so it’s a great time to refresh your summer wardrobe with a shiny new accessory or shop for graduation/wedding/teacher gifts. Let me know if you need any help.

I hope you’re enjoying your weekend as much as I’m enjoying mine. Have a blessed Sunday!

  1. I love your haircut! Would you please post a pic of the back as well? I would love to show it to my hairdresser! Thanks!

  2. Great cut and color – enjoy! I understand the nervousness of using a new stylist. I changed mine and then decided to grow out my short bob to below shoulder length and greatly reduce my highlights. The planets were all aligned because it all worked out, I couldn’t be happier. I enjoy your blog and facebook posts. Happy Sunday!

  3. Me too – I really like your new haircut! I know what you mean about being tired and wanting to stay home – I’ve been feeling the same way lately. Have a wonderful rest of your weekend!
