Sweater Weather is HERE!

Happy Monday, friends! I think fall is officially here. It’s been downright cold at times this weekend, and we even lit the fireplace last night. That means I finally get to start breaking out my fall sweaters!

This cotton v-neck from Everlane is the one I’m most excited to start wearing. I just love the rich crimson hue, the bold texture, and the knit details. Plus it has a really flattering v-neckline, which is hard to find these days! It seems like so many sweaters are crewnecks this season.

It’s 73% cotton and 27% nylon, so it’s breathable and comfortable against the skin, and it comes in 6 color choices. It runs true to size; I have the small.

For those unfamiliar with Everlane, they’re known for ethically made basics that are designed to last. They don’t really do sales, but they’re very transparent about their pricing, and you can be confident you’re getting a good value for your dollar. This is not fast fashion.

I love their business model, but some of their styles are too trendy for my taste — or at least, they don’t work for my body type — but every once in a while I find a gem, and this sweater is one of those gems!

It isn’t cropped, but it’s right about hip-length and has deep side slits, so I like it best with high rise jeans.

These are the Good American Good Legs high rise skinnies I got last year in a Trunk Club shipment. They have an 11″ front rise, which is higher than I usually wear, but they are perfect for shorter tops that I don’t want to front tuck.

Good American jeans are made for women with curvier figures, which I don’t typically consider myself to have, but these fit me great. The price point is on the lower end of premium denim, so if you’ve been on the fence about trying a higher quality jean, this brand is a good one to start with.

A more budget-friendly option in a classic dark wash skinny jean (but not high rise) is this Wit & Wisdom pair, and it also comes in petites.

I wore this silver layered necklace to fill in the v-neckline of the sweater. This necklace is adjustable, but it does not come apart into separate necklaces. I don’t mind, and I’m sure that helps keep the price down, but I wanted to mention it in case you expected it to work that way.

The longer pendant extends past most of my necklines, and I just let it fall where it may. Sometimes it ends up on the inside, and sometimes on the outside, but that’s okay — if it lays too perfectly, it can look too prim.

I also wore this mixed metal bracelet that I’ve shown several times before.

I’m really bummed because I misplaced it after this photoshoot, and I really miss it! It’s a great little casual piece to throw on with so many of my everyday outfits.

These snake print loafer mules add some pattern and texture to the look, but there’s a lot of texture in the sweater, so I might prefer plain grey or taupe suede loafers or booties with this outfit.

I’m thinking my Vince loafers or Jeffrey Campbell booties. I also just added these Sam Edelman leather loafers to my closet, and they would work well too. Or even ballet flats.

My black satchel came in handy yet again. I really like how it works with these snake print mules.

The silver hardware is nice with the cool grey shades in the shoes, and the black coordinates without matching exactly.

I’ve been looking for something to replace this bag, as I’ve had it for so many years and I’m growing tired of it, but I can’t find anything I like as much so I keep carrying it.

This is the type of outfit I live in throughout most of fall and winter, and while I’m sad to see summer come to an end, I’m excited for the sweater weather ahead!

  1. You aren’t kidding about the lack of v necks this season!  I spent a good hour searching with shopstyle last night and only found one that I was interested in.

  2. Beautiful color & style on your.  I love the knit on the sweater!  These PA fall weather temps have been all over the place!  It was 28 degrees Saturday morning, cold and damp yesterday, and 60 degrees this morning!  Cardigan on, then I get working around the house, cardigan off….!  Crazy!

  3. I love Lucky Brand jewelry!  I’ve bought several pieces from you  styling them. I thought of you on Friday as I got vertigo during my yoga class 😳 fun times. Vertigo is no fun. My husband had to pick me up at the studio!

  4. Love the fall and sweater weather!! Think I am going to steal your Mom’s saying about borrowing trouble. I love that–funny how true that is! I hear you though, why does going on vacation stress us out?! I do believe it’s part of being a Mom!

  5. Thank you so much for mentioning that it’s perfectly okay for layered necklaces to not lay just right, all of the time!  I needed to read that! 😉. That is a very pretty sweater and one I would add to my closet if I needed another sweater.  It will be Sunday, at the earliest, before we start having sweater weather.  Our patience with the hot temps is definitely being tested.  I’m done with sweating so much.  Have a great day!

  6. Love that on you. No sweaters here for awhile. Still 80s during the day but has cooled off some at night. I love that bracelet. Hard not to order but I have too many already. Have a good day.

  7. I love that outfit! I’m so glad it’s cooler now but Va is not quite ready for the sweater you have on. Soon 🤞 I hope!

  8. I really like the sweater, especially the color. everything you’ve chosen really blends together. Simple but powerful. You could do versions of this here in California now also. It chilly at night.

  9. Jolynne – I meant to respond yesterday about your trip to Paris.  SO excited for you & I know you’ll love the time with your hubby.  When I saw your post today about being nervous & the vertigo issues my heart went out to you.  We’ll all be praying for you that nothing spoils the trip.

Love the sweater today – I’m here in the Texas panhandle and we’ve finally had rain and cooler temps.  I have on a camo hoodie today – my work environment is casual….so it was chilly enough to wear this hoodie today.  YAY!

  10. That color looks so nice on you. I never thought about the texture of a sweater and a statement shoe… good point! Back to 70’s today.. Saturday felt almost like winter… all over the place lol

  11. I love the Everlane sweater!  I’m thinking about ordering but I’m concerned about the color.   You (and the website) say it’s crimson but it looks like a rust to me.  Sooo, what say you?

  12. I love a cotton/v neck sweater, but not a fan of the side slits. So….. lace some soft leather laces through the holes in a criss cross (X). Thinking ribbon would be nice too.

  13. Cute sweater!   Can’t believe y’all are already able to wear them up north!  Here in the south, we just broke below 90 degrees last week!
