In Which I Answer All The Intermittent Fasting Questions

Greetings and good morning! We've had quite a weekend in our house. Most notably, C got her driver's license yesterday!!! I've also got a brief kitchen makeover update, and I'm answering all the intermittent fasting questions I've been getting this week.

My Health & Fitness Goals for 2018

Do you make New Year's Resolutions? I'm not really into resolutions, but I do have some goals for 2018. I'll be looking over my reader survey results and diving a little deeper into my analytics before setting any specific professional goals, but my primary personal goal is to get back to a good exercise routine and clean eating lifestyle.

Coffee Talk 08.14.16

It’s been almost a week since we started Whole 30, and I promised an update. I get a lot of questions about what I’m eating and how it’s going. Honestly, I don’t feel like I have much to share, but you know me — I’ll say that and go on to write 2000 words. Ha! I actually feel...

Getting My Mojo Back

I was never a particularly active person. I tried to be. I tried running, pilates, lifting weights, aerobics, and just about every other fad exercise that came down the pike in the 80s and 90s, but nothing stuck until I caught the running bug about five years ago. As a child, I was always the kid...

Sugar Detox: An Update

I’ve had a lot of questions about how things are going post-sugar detox. I’ve been meaning to write an update for a while. I’m definitely glad I did it, but going on three trips the following month definitely did NOT help me stay on track. I was pretty conscientious in Seattle about not eating sugar and...

The 21-Day Sugar Detox DAY 21 Recap, I DID IT!

Okay, so Day 21 was yesterday, but I just got this email in my inbox today with this cute button because I started a day before I was supposed to and my email updates have been off throughout this entire program. I honestly feel like I’ve been on this journey for months, not 3 weeks....

And then I fell in love with cycling.

The whole biking thing came about because I was looking for alternatives to running that give me some cardio action and a physical activity I can do outside. I have no desire to exercise on cardio equipment at the gym or work out to a video in my living room. It makes me feel like...

Because Those Who Can’t Run . . . Bike?

I always resented the phrase “those who can’t do teach” because, well, I WAS A TEACHER. And I think I “do” quite well, thank you. But I had to giggle when I went to buy my bike and captioned my Instagram update with the above. So yeah, I finally bit the bullet. I BOUGHT A BIKE....

We’ve Come A Long Way, Baby!

It’s still mind-boggling to me to contemplate how my overall health and wellbeing has changed in the past five years. It’s been such a gradual improvement that I often forget how far I’ve come. At one point, I was having unexplained and incredibly debilitating stomach aches a few times a week, I was experiencing IBS...

My Journey Back to Health & Where I Am Now

I’ve had a lot of requests for more information on food, but I realize a lot of newer readers may not even know my story at all. My Story For a little recap, I used to eat like crap. I’m talking, 3 or 4 Cokes a day, lots of pizza, chips, sweets, and I had...

Diet, Exercise & Sleep and Fitting It In

I’ve often wondered how much my newfound passion for running has affected my digestive health and overall well being. Desperate to get relief from gastritis, IBS and reflux, I latched onto the real food lifestyle after reading Michael Pollan’s In Defense of Food back in 2009. By focusing on eating real foods sourced as locally as...

How I Manage Acid Reflux and Heartburn Naturally

One of my all-time most popular posts is How I Got Off Nexium. Not a week goes by that I don’t get new comments on this post or a personal email asking for advice or sharing a success story. A lot of people want to know how I did it, and how long it took...
