Coffee Talk: Maine Vacation Edition
It's hard to believe our Maine vacation is already nearing its end. Isn't it odd how you look forward to something for so long and then suddenly it's over? While I'll be glad to be home and get back into my routine, I'll miss the soothing sound of the lake water lapping up on the shore, the call of the loons, the brilliance of the sunsets, and the lazy days with no sense of time. Today I thought I'd share some pictures of our vacation and more about what we've been up to.

Experience The Inn at Manchester: a Vermont B&B and Carriage House
When we decided to take a detour on our way to Maine by way of the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, we knew we would need to make another stop before getting to our final destination. We could have stayed in Cooperstown a second night, but we decided to drive on down the...

Greetings from Maine! #FamilyTravelDiary
Good Sunday morning to you!! I don’t even know where to begin sharing about our trip. Our time in Maine so far has been full but relaxing. For starters, we’ve taken the boat out on the lake, made s’mores, hiked Blue Hill Mountain, toured the picturesque town of Castine, and biked Schoodic Point. Our Blue Hill Mountain hike was...

And then I fell in love with cycling.
The whole biking thing came about because I was looking for alternatives to running that give me some cardio action and a physical activity I can do outside. I have no desire to exercise on cardio equipment at the gym or work out to a video in my living room. It makes me feel like...

Things To Do with Kids in Portsmouth, NH
On our way to Maine, we decided to stop over in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Portsmouth is a historic maritime town that has recently become a hub for foodies and locavores while retaining its quintessential New England charm. From its clapboard houses dating back to the 1700s, to the downtown square with its white-steepled church, to the rows of adorable shops and waterfront seafood...

Greetings from Maine! #FamilyTravelDiary
This edition of Saturday Coffee Talk is being broadcast from the great state of Maine! Warning: you are about to be bombarded by vacation pictures. You have been warned. I took this photo our first morning waking up at the lake. I took this with my Moto X that I’m testing as part of the #VZWBuzz program. Pretty...

Winvian Resort and Spa in Connecticut
I am writing from my plush bed in one of the cottages at the Winvian Resort and Spa in Litchfield Hills, Connecticut. Oh yes I am!!! When my friend Cecily invited me to come as her “plus one” on a spa trip (’cause I am definitely not cool enough to get this invitation on my...

Scenes from Maine
Here are just a few of my favorite pictures from our Maine Vacation this year. The kids loved spending time on the lake. Paul and D hiked Black Mountain. And I love this picture that captures a rare moment of sibling affection and harmony. We can’t wait till next year!

Schoodic Point, Maine
The weather has taken a turn for the worse, but not to be deterred, we took the two oldest kids on a tour of the Schoodic Penninsula. After a rather underwhelming lunch in Winter Harbor (note to self: stick with the old standby next time), we made our way down to the point where the...

Another hike. More seafood. The end.
The best thing about Maine, besides the decadent lobster and the gorgeous coastal views, is that much of the state remains untouched by the commercial monotony that characterizes the modern American landscape. I used to entertain myself on long trips by scoping out the various stores and restaurants located along the way. At one time, even...
