Taupe Moto Outfit with Plaid Heels

Happy hump day, fashion friends! I hope your week is going well. I’m all in a tizzy, trying to get ready to go out of town tomorrow. For some reason, I always wait till the last minute to pack.

So today I have an outfit I put together for going out to dinner one night, and I never ended up sharing it… well, until now.

It’s probably more appropriate for those in warmer climates, as it’s already getting chilly here in Pennsylvania for a moto and tank combo, but you could totally do this look with a sweater underneath if you need more warmth.

And of course, these pumps are long gone. Such a shame that they didn’t bring them back, or more options in this plaid fabric.

I just discovered this pair, though, which has a practical chunky heel and Mary Jane style strap, and a really pretty fall color palette. In fact, I just ordered them to try.

I decided to wear bootcut jeans instead of my usual skinnies for a change of pace.

These are the 7 For All Mankind Kimmie bootcuts that I’ve had for a few years, and they’re currently 50% off at Nordstrom Rack. I have the size 28, so they’re TTS or size down if in between.

On top, I’m wearing the Chelsea28 raw edge tank and my trusty taupe BlankNYC moto. You can find similar styles here and here. I also really like faux suede draped moto jacket in Mr. Rushmore.

For size reference, I take a medium in BlankNYC jackets. My tank is a small, but it’s a little tight across the bust. You may want to size up if you’re bigger on top; otherwise it’s true to size.

And my layered necklace is sold out, but I really like this one as an alternative.

So this is about it for fall outfits! Tomorrow I’m teaming up with Deb from Fabulous After 40 for some holiday style inspo, and C has a cute winter poncho look for you on Friday. Have a great day!

  1. Hello Jo-Lynne! As always I loved your posts. Thank you, thank you, thank you for considering those of us who live in the south and have milder climates. Yesterday it was 78 degrees today it is in the 50’s. Good grief. Anywho, I know you are probably overwhelmed with blog ideas for the holiday season, but I was wondering do how you care for your make up brushes to keep them clean and it good condition?
    Have a blessed day!

  2. You look so nice in this very pretty fall outfit!  I am more than confident you will be all packed in short order.

  3. Very well put together fall outfit. Those bootcut jeans are super flattering on you as well. Enjoy your trip and have fun with Cyndi.

  4. I love the boot cut on you. Do you have to wear heels with them? I have bad feet and can’t wear much of a heel.

    1. Barb, any pointy toe shoe or boot will work with boot cut jeans. You may have to hem your jeans so they don’t buckle on top of your foot, nor drag on the ground. I can’t wear heels either.

  5. Love this outfit. Basic yet so chic! I’m so happy that boot cuts are back–they are so flattering for those hourglass ladies.  Layering necklaces–shorter these days rather than the very long pendant?  And no more of the thin scarves?  Just ones for warmth?

  6. Skinny jeans look nice on you, but wow,  all I can say is bootcut jeans were made for you, and you need to wear them more often!  Beautiful fall ensemble🙂.

  7. I love this outfit and yes it will go great for us south Texas residents. I saw some Sam Edelman plaid shoes advertised and it looks like Nordstrom has them. I can’t wear the really cute high heel but they also shoe some chunkier heels too. have fun with Cyndi – you two would be great to hang around with but I am sure you will tell us all about it!

  8. This is my favourite outfit that you’ve styled. I love those shoes and boot cut jeans are so flattering. You look so tall in them. I have only skinnies and I’m so ready for a newer look.

  9. That would be a perfect outfit for California! Those heels…I really need to up my shoe game. Love the jacket. You also look great in those bootcut jeans. I think you should style them more often especially since wider legs are such a hot trend!

  10. Yay, you’re coming to Nashville! I hope you have a marvelous time here. (And get to eat at some of the best places, because in my opinion, that’s half the reason to visit!)
