Teal Ruched Knit Dress Under $50

Good morning, and welcome back to 21 Days of Summer Fashion! Today I’m sharing a versatile dress that I discovered at Nordstrom, and yay, it’s on sale!

This under $50 ruched knit dress comes in four colors, including black for anyone who is looking to update their go-to LBD this year. It's such a great versatile dress for so many spring and summer occasions, and it's a great price.

Okay, don’t hate me, but the teal is only available in a couple of sizes. However, this ruched knit dress comes in three other nice colors, including black for anyone who is looking to update their go-to LBD this year. I also really like the red one.

Isn’t the ruching on this skirt a great detail???

For size reference, I’m 5’5″ and just under 140# and I’m wearing a medium. I run between a small or medium in dresses, so I’d say this one is fairly true to size, but size up if in doubt. It’s already a body-conscious design so you don’t want it to be too snug.

I like nude shoes with a solid color dress, and these block heel ankle strap sandals are a great choice for summer. Pumps with a dress can read very conservative, but these suede sandals are modern as well as classic.

These are the oatmeal suede, and yes, it’s totally fine to wear suede in the summertime. Suede is for all year round these days.

I absolutely love these shoes. I find them incredibly comfortable even though they have a 3-1/2″ heel. The ankle strap keeps them on your feet when you walk, and the block heel offers some stability. Plus the suede is super soft and comfy on your feet.

I think a leopard clutch adds a nice touch to a solid outfit. It’s always a good idea to add pattern and texture to an outfit, and this bag does both.

I played around with a few necklaces, and I ended up wearing this layered necklace with the longest strand removed. I took it off because there is a lot going on in the skirt and I didn’t want it to compete. I actually wanted a shorter necklace but one that still makes a statement, and I didn’t have quite the right thing, so I guess this works okay.

This is such a versatile dress for so many spring and summer occasions, and it’s a great price.

  1. Looks great on you Jo-Lynne. I am going to order it in the black as I need a summer black dress. Enjoy your week and the milestones you are celebrating!

  2. That dress / color is beautiful on you! As for the big events this week, yes, I remember the sadness of leaving elementary school behind. For me I was excited for this new chapter in their lives. I also knew that I would change and grow as a parent. If this sounds scary – it is! All part of the journey my friend!

  3. You know I’m the hugest fan of you in dresses, Jo-Lynne!! You either chose the right ones, or you just have the best shape for them!! And ruching has always been so flattering!! I love this detail on this dress!!

  4. This dress looks awesome on you !
I just purchased a very similar dress at Nordtrom by Leith in almost the same color for $56.  It is such an awesome dress – ruched with a tulip hem.  If this one sells out in the gorgeous teal color it could be an option.  It is very popular and comes out in different colors all the time.

      1. Yes that’s it! I sized up one size because it does run a Little small.  It doesn’t fit me as tight as on the model and that’s fine with me.  It also doesn’t come as high on my thigh.   The model’s legs are probably as long as my whole body.

  5. Can you add me to your mailing list again? I’ve filled out the update twice but am no longer receiving your daily posts. Thank you!

  6. So pretty!  Good luck with the elementary graduation this afternoon.  It does help that your youngest daughter doesn’t want you involved a lot.  🎉

  7. Yes, success with getting your emails again!! Wishing you all the best as you transition to a new home, plan a grad party, and say farewell to Elementary school days!!!  Take a deep breath, everything will be fine. 🙂

  8. Good luck this week! I feel ya! This year my youngest graduated from elementary to our intermediate
school (5th & 6th grades) and my oldest is going to be a freshman. Big changes. It was good bye after 9 years to our elementary school. One of the before and after care workers was there the entire 9 years and was there to greet us every morning and afternoon. She was the hardest to say good bye to. I’m not sure how I feel about having a high schooler either! I know the next 4 are going to fly by even faster. 🙁

  9. I am very frustrated. Ever since I updated by preferences (twice) for your daily/weekly posts, your emails do not appear in my inbox. Instead, I find them in the Junk. How can I fix this problem? I love your blog and don’t want to miss a post. Please advise.

    1. Hey Sharel. So this is disheartening to hear. Fortunately you have gmail, so it is easy to set up filters. First, add my email address to your gmail contacts so gmail recognizes it as a valid contact. But that is probably not enough.

The other thing you can do is to set up a filter:

When on a desktop in your gmail web browser, open one of my emails, and click the More button at the top. Select Filter Messages Like These.

In the From box, put my email address: [email protected]

Delete the stuff in the “Has the words” box.

Click “Create filter with this search”.

On the next screen, click “Never send it to spam”

You can also select “Categorize as” and choose your Primary inbox, to be extra safe.

Then click the blue Create Filter button.

      That SHOULD do it!!!

I am so sorry for the hassle.

  10. Is this dress pulling across your chest?  I often have this same problem, and I’m very self conscious about the wrinkling across the chest.
