Thank You, Mom

Have you been glued to the Olympic Games this year?  This is the first year that our kids have been interested in watching, so we’ve let them stay up way too late more nights than I care to admit as we got our fill of skiing and skating and snow boarding.  And there wasn’t a dry eye in our house the night Joannie Rochette skated an almost perfect program less than a week after her mom passed away.

The 2010 Winter Games may be winding down, but the P&G Thank You Mom Campaign and Contest is still going strong.  You have two more days to nominate a mom you know who lives the core values of the US Olympic Movement — excellence, respect and friendship.  The winning nomination and mom will receive a 4-day, 3 night all-expense paid trip to the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London to cheer on Team USA.  How amazing would that be?

And now I get to tell you about my latest venture.  I’ve known about this for MONTHS, but we just got the go-ahead to post our very first ever (with hopefully many more to come) BlissTV episode.  Take a look!  You will see a lot of familiar faces. This episode features some of the amazing moms we know who represent the values of excellence, respect and friendship.

When I was asked to highlight a mom in my life that exemplifies those qualities, I knew immediately that I would talk about my own mother.  My mom is by far the most influential person in my life, and she is a role model I can only aspire to live up to.  Take a look at the video and see what I mean.  And then get your nomination in before midnight this Sunday night (or officially, 11:59:59PM.)

  1. I love this, Jo-Lynne. Having lost my mom (to cancer) when I was in third grade, I *still* remember lessons she taught me through her life, illness and death. Those lessons were learned for decades, maybe still are :).

As I watched this sweet video, I thought about my second “mom”, my mother in law :). I actually coined the phrase “mother in love” because that characterizes our relationship perfectly. She’s had impact in not only her sons’ lives, but in her daughter in loves (she says that, too), her grandchildren and really, all those who’ve come into contact with her.

I love this concept from P&G. Wish I had known about it a few weeks ago! 🙂 xo (off to read more, tho!)

  2. I’ll agree with you Jo-Lynne, your mom’s pretty cool. I’m so amazed that she can maintain a home and keep up with family while also running her own business. In fact, just starting her own business in a field that was male dominated is amazing. She’s one of my heros.

    1. I so agree! I mentioned her business in my original video but when it was produced, it didn’t make the cut. But she truly “does it all” – it still amazes me.

  3. Few things… I never, ever watch videos on blogs… but for some reason was drawn to yours… this is also my first time on your site and JUST LOV E IT! Can’t wait to dive in further!

I believe this P&G contest ends tonight. My mother is GRAVELY ill and possibly losing a battle to cancer; I’m going to try and submit my story this evening. Wow… this will be a feat!

Again, so excited to connect with you; hope a friendship ensues over the next few months! I can see we have tons in common!
