The Best of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018

Hello and happy Thursday!!! In the wee hours of tomorrow morning, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opens to the public, and I can’t wait to see what (if anything) gets restocked.

Even if they don’t get fully restocked, popular items continue to come in and out in random sizes as customers make returns, so check back regularly on your favorites. I scored my Stuart Weitzman OTK boots last year during the last week of the sale when a few sizes got returned.

This is the post I wanted to write last week, and I’m finally just getting around to it, so I apologize I didn’t have this resource for you sooner, but if you’ve been waiting until tomorrow to shop, this should help you do your homework tonight! And for those of you who are card holders, I would recommend grabbing anything you’re still debating about now, because once the sale opens to the public, all bets are off!

I’m trying to make this post as comprehensive as possible by covering all the different categories, while also keeping it highly curated and only sharing my absolute favorite items in each category.

I’ve seen and tried on a lot of these products, but some I’m including based on recommendations I’ve seen on other blogs and my general knowledge of the brands. Let’s get started!

FYI, I can’t choose the color of the items shown in the shopping widgets below, so I’m not always showing my favorite. Click through to see more color options. Also, the prices and descriptions are UNDER the products. Also, I tried to keep each widget to one page, but if you’re on your phone or tablet, you will have to use the arrow to the right to scroll.

The Best Denim from the #NSale

Nordstrom killed it with the denim this year. I have soooo many favorites I want to share with you, and I didn’t even hit them all here. There are some great colored denim options too. I wish I’d tried more styles so I have more sizing notes, but I’ll do my best with what I know of the brands. If in doubt, order two sizes and return the ones that don’t fit. I do find that #NSale products are sized a little differently sometimes.

The Best Shoes & Boots from the #NSale

I’m also loving the shoes and boots this year. Mules and ankle boots are definitely trending, and I feel like OTK boots are taking a backseat to the knee-high boots this year. I’ll be curious to see how that plays out this fall and winter.

The Best Tops & Sweaters from the #NSale

Okay, I’ll say it. I don’t love the tops this year, but I did find some good ones amidst all the meh. Unfortunately, my favorites are the super expensive ones. #figures

The Best Jackets & Outerwear from the #NSale

True confessions: I didn’t try on any coats or jackets. I just didn’t get that far, and I never went back to finish up. These picks are the ones that caught my eye online and some I saw other bloggers feature. I’m obsessed with this one but I can’t get it to add to my widget. Here are the rest:

The Best of Handbags #NSale

The Best Accessories from the #NSale

The Best in Men’s Apparel (Paul’s Picks) #NSale

Best of Men’s Shoes & Accessories

The Best in Home from the #NSale

So many great gift ideas in here!

The Best in Beauty #NSale

I don’t usually go crazy with the Beauty buys during the #NSale, but there are some good ones this year, including my favorite hair dryer and flat iron.

The Best of #NSale Under $50

There’s a 2nd page to this widget, so even if you’re on a computer, you will want to use the arrow to scroll to see more.

The Best of #NSale Under $100

What I Bought

Don’t judge — consider it blog research. Ha! No, seriously, I would not buy all of this if it weren’t for the blog, and some will get returned… I’m just not sure what yet.

  1. I also deal with low back pain from injuries. Give yoga a try. At home I use Yoga with Adrienne on you tube. She’s awesome! So many videos to choose from and many to target gentle stretches and back pain. Here’s to a  speedy recovery!

  2. I missed that you actually broke your pinky toe.  I sure hope that it is completely healed now.  Bless your heart about your back!  I’m sure someone will have some good recommendations for you.  I really appreciate this post.  The bootcut jeans I have in my closet are low rise, which I hate, so I need to order a replacement pair that is high rise.  I know how W&W fits, but I’d like to give the AG ones a try, if they are high rise.  I am going to get my order placed in a few moments.  It’s nice and cool here in the NC mountains.  This is my kind of weather.  I hope you have a great day, despite your back.  I can’t wait to see more of the guest room!

  3. For your back – I have found a few things that help: Advil, yoga stretches (I find these on pinterest and youtube), keep moving (don’t sit or stand for periods of time.) Hot shower in the morning to loosen it up. Heating pad in the evening. Hope this helps.

  4. Try taking Alleve(naproxen) and apply ice 20 min on/20 min off for your back! The anti inflammatory in the naproxen should help.

  5. Thank you for this post! I was waiting for recommendations before hitting buy on a handbag. I bought myself an early bday present – the Rebecca Minkoff bag in blue. I had been hemming and hawing over the grey and blue for days – grey sold out so I got the blue since you mentioned that color 🙂 I think it will go with plenty this fall and winter.

I also picked up the Sigma brush set that has the eyeshadow brushes. Looking forward to trying out a new brand. I know the sets have smaller brushes but that works for my hands. It does come with a full size brush as a GWP.

I look forward to seeing you style your new purchases!

  6. Ice, ice, ice!!!! I sometimes wrench my back and what works best is ice 30 min on/30 min off. I’ve heard you should do that for the first 24-48 hours and then can alternate heat and ice. Advil around the clock as well. I have a prescription anti-inflammatory, Meloxicam, that works great for me.

  7. First let me say I am so sorry about your fall. Sounds like something I would do. I’m always running into things and have bruises to prove it. Pray you heal quickly. The post looks amazing. I am going back and check it out later when I get home from volunteer work. Hope your day gets better.

  8. I also broke my pinky toe moving (ran into the coffee table) – LOL! I see a chiropractor for my back and would recommend that. I would also agree with Karen that yoga is a great option as well. Hope you feel better soon! Thank you so much for all the work you did with the NSale! I will be going through my closet to purge so I can fill it up again! 🙂

  9. Ice the back for 20 minutes, then take it off for 20 minutes. In my experience Aleve works better than Advil. My doctor prescribes 500 mg twice a day as an anti-inflamatory for my back when I do something stupid. Feel better! Lots of stretching also helps….

  10. Hi, Jo-Lynne,
Oooh, totally empathize with your back issue😖!  I have had similar over the past 15 years. Let me share something I found on the internet a few years ago “for out-of-sort backs that hurt more when you sit,” which is typical for me. Since I have been doing this regularly & always if my back gets in a bad mood, my back has not gone all the way out in 2 years. Try it if you like! Lie down on the floor on your back. Extend your feet so toes are pointing forward with a stretch. At same time, put your arms straight back over your head & stretch fingers out so that you have one big stretch from tips to toes. Hold this stretch while you suck in tummy & envision your belly button to floor, thus trying to flatten your back to floor. Repeat several times. Good luck! I am not a professional & can only share what has helped me. A few weeks ago, my back felt stiff & decrepit after weeding. After doing this, it felt normal.

  11. I’m so sorry about your back.  Ouch!  I can relate.  I’ve found icing and Advil work well.  Stretching is great, too. Thanks for the great post!  I saw a couple things I’d like to order if they are still in stock tomorrow.  Feel better soon!

  12. Jo-Lynne
Thanks so much for this info!! Very helpful.
My humble nurse advice is ice and rest and Advil. Then switch to heat 24 to 48 hrs after ice. You can get great portable heat pads that adhere to your back called Therma care. They last about 6 to 8 hrs. very soothing. So sorry you are dealing with this. I tend to get more clutzy when I am stressed or distracted.
    Off to shop THE sale!

  13. I  feel so badly for u. I know how that is when u r rushing to do it all. Upside at least u have a fabulous wardrobe and home. My big question is is the Tory burch Collins cronographer42mm  watch u posted yesterday your exact watch. I asked u once before and u told me yours wasn’t available and made similar suggestions. I love your watch with the two tones

    1. I was trying to find the one I got last year to check the size to compare, but I can’t find it so I can’t be sure what size mine is. It looks identical, but I know that style comes in a few sizes.

  14. Oh no! Sorry to hear about your mishap. I agree with using Aleve anti- inflammatory meds and icing the spasmed area. Also try soaking in an Epsom salt bath (add 2 cups) and soak for 20 minutes daily. The extra magnesium helps calm down spasm. Try PT or Chiro if it doesn’t calm down in a few days. Hope you feel better soon!! 😀

  15. Sorry to hear about your back. If it were me I’d be on my way to my trusty chiropractor:) and be feeling like new . I would also do the Advil and apply ice and heat ( maybe a heating pad). And just take it easy… it doesn’t always take much to through our backs out so don’t feel bad:) thanks for the tips from Nordstrom. I have a little list between you and Cyndi so I’ll have to see how I make out tomorrow. I love the pullover chubby fleece but it’s sold out in small:( on well I’ll keep checking. Feel better soon:)
    Karen

  16. Oh Jo-Lynne I totally feel for you on your back I also hurt my back , lifting a kettle into the refrigerator of all things, it has been 6 weeks now and still in pain. I’ve tried ice and heat nothing seems too help. I will try the stretching that Jan has recommended. I have been constantly lying down as sitting makes it worse. Do have an appointment with specialist at end of month. I know that sounds like along time but have waited 6 weeks already thinking it would be better. 🙁
I pray that you feel better soon. 🙏 Thank you for all your time that you put into your blog.  I’m sure that you must put countless hours into your work. Have a blessed day and feel better soon !

  17. This is so helpful! I’ve bought a few things so far, but want to shop more. (playing the online order/return game.) I love the smaller bar cart! Ordering! We already have a large bar cart that I’m dying to re-style once we paint and get things unpacked. But now we have a loft and I’m going to use it as a coffee cart. I’m picturing spending snowy winter mornings drinking coffee and looking out at my mountain view.

I love bar carts! I think you can use the small one almost anywhere! Go for it girl!

  18. If you can find a chiropractor who is experienced in NUCCA (a less invasive treatment than adjustment) and get a massage therapist, you should be able to get your back in shape. Advil is good as well as icing 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off.  I also like biofreeze when I see my massage therapist.

  19. Hi!
I am new to your blog-love it! I have a Barefoot Dreams Circle Cardigan from last year and now I want to get another one. All the sizes are gone. In your experience, do they restock these when the site opens up to everyone? I have already ordered a ton of stuff, but now I am hoping I can get this, too! What do you think? Thanks so much! Deb Bly

  20. I am really crushing on those Vince Camuto open toe ooties but just can’t get past the over 4 inch heel. I’m worried they won’t be comfortable after a few hours and most casual booties are 3 inches or lower so I just don’t know what to do 🤔I guess I could always return them if they are too high.

  21. Ugh!  So sorry to hear that you’ve hurt your back and pinky toe!  Looks like your loyalists have given you some good tips.  I’ve broken my “pinky toes” several times…always while rushing in the house or while doing housework without shoes.  Just like you, I’ve thought, “should I ALWAYS wear shoes??” I hope you feel better soon.  I have a list for the Nordstrom sale (I’ll be able to begin shopping tomorrow), and will click through your links!  Great coverage of the Sale.  Thank you!

  22. Sorry to hear about your injuries! I know it is so annoying to not be able to do the things you want to do! I concur on the advice given – I work for pain management docs and hear the advice dispensed   Lol.  Ice and ibuprofen or naprosyn, whichever works best for you.  Keeping the inflammation down allows the tissues to heal.  Gentle stretching once any acute pain has subsided.
I love so many of your picks from the sale.  I grabbed the TB mini in the gorgeous red suede color.   I always use the sale as an opp to try a new beauty product.  I usually get the mac neutral set but I splurged on the Charlotte Tilbury neutral set to see what all the fuss about CT was about and omg they are so awesome.

  23. Jo-Lynne, so sorry to hear about your back and baby toe. You got plenty of advice about ice/heat/Advil/Aleve. The only thing I would add is Voltaren. It works like a charm on any soreness I have. Question about the gorgeous blue Rebecca Minkoff handbag. How would you style it?
