Presidents’ Day Sales + Outfits I’ve Worn That Are On Sale

Does anyone else have to look up how to spell Presidents’ Day every year? As you probably know, President’s Day started out as Washington’s birthday, but nowadays most of us consider it a celebration of both Washington and Lincoln’s birthdays. At some point it was officially expanded to include all presidents, and yet there is still no official consensus on where to place the apostrophe or if it even needs one at all.

I’m persnickety about my grammar and punctuation so I read a few sources and decided to make it plural possessive. I realize no one cares, but it was driving me batty, so I had to figure it out.

No matter how you spell it, there are some AMAZING sales to be had on Presidents’ Day weekend, so I’ve rounded up some of my favorites. Then after that, I’m sharing some of the outfits I’ve worn that are on sale!

Winter Styles I’ve Worn That Are On Sale This Weekend

This red blazer just went on sale as well as my favorite nude pumps! My neck scarf is also on sale, and Carly sent me a 10% off promo code for the perfect white tee.

sale styles: LOFT collarless blazer (40% off with code HAPPY!) // silk scarf (also 40% off with code HAPPY!) // perfect white tee c/o (use code Jolynne10 for 10% off) // nude leather pumps (30% off!!!) // all other details

I can’t believe this striped sweater is still fully stocked. At 50% off, it’s a steal.

on sale: contrast cuff sweater (50% off!)

I just picked up this chunky sweater. Definitely not the most flattering shape for me, but I love the color, and it’s super soft.

sale styles: chunky turtleneck (40% off) // also shown: AG Midi Ankle Jeans & Tory Burch flats (old)

These beet red booties are some of my favorites and they just went 40% off. They come in 6 colors. Super comfortable.

sale styles: Lucky Brand Yakeena Zip Wedge Booties // all other details

This scoop neck sweater also comes in white, grey, and navy. I also found some other alternatives to my OTK boots that are all on sale.

sale styles: BR scoop neck sweater (40% off) // similar OTK boots herehere and here // all other details

I also wore it with a skirt in this post. For size reference, I have the small, but you can see that it shrunk some (the above picture is after washing) so I wish I’d bought the medium.

J.Crew Factory has 50% off everything, and that brings this classic pullover down to $20.

J.Crew Factory Marnie Sweater $39 + 50% off // WHBM skimmer jeans ($49 + 40% off)

Some colors are even less – the pink one is $35 + 50% off.

There are only a few sizes left, but this cardigan is great quality and very slimming. It also comes in grey. My booties and jeans are also deeply discounted.

sale styles: long ribbed cardigan (40% off) // AG destructed mid-rise raw hem skinnies (30% off) // Lucky Brand zip wedge bootie (40% off) // all other details

This top will transition well into spring, and it’s 50% off!

on sale: Vince Camuto Rib Knit Long Sweater ($44!)

Finally, the red bell sleeve top I styled last month is 40% off at Banana Republic, and it comes in several other colors/patterns as well.

sale styles: bell sleeve top // all other details

I’m probably missing some, but hopefully that hits the highlights!

  1. I appreciate your attention to detail and grammar!!! And of course I love your style :). I looked up Presidents’ Day after reading your post and it was very interesting, so thank you!!!! Have a wonderful weekend! Karen

  2. I actually never even thought about where to put the apostrophe (but I can’t remember ever needing to write it either). Interesting!
I’m trying to keep the shopping to a minimum these days, but some of these sales are very tempting. It’s probably a good thing those booties are out in my size. 😉

  3. I know you wear dl1961 jeans. I love the Emma’s. How do the Florence compare? Are they much longer? I am 5’6″. Have you ever tried the margeaux?

    1. The Florence aren’t as tight, and they have a 9″ rise – so a little higher. I like the cropped Florence a lot – they have a raw edge version this year that is great. I have an AG pair so I didn’t buy them, but I recommend them highly. I didn’t care for the Margeaux, and I can’t remember why.

  4. Can I just say that I love your attention to grammar detail!? There isn’t enough of that left in this world of texting and social media posts.

      1. As a teacher who has enjoyed reading your blog, I take issue with your comment “most teachers…don’t even know basic grammar”. Not only is that an untrue statement, it’s quite disrespectful.

        1. Hi Kathy, I was a teacher too, actually, not that it gives me a free pass to insult the entire profession, but I am often surprised by the grammatical the errors I hear coming from teachers as well as well-educated people from many other professions. I should have worded my comment better. “Most teachers and public speakers” was a poor choice of words, and I apologize. There was no need to single out any one profession.

      2. Not this teacher, thank you very much. Please don’t generalize for all teachers. I work with an amazing staff of very intelligent and hard-working teachers. Spelling and grammar are an important part of the writing process and I push my students to learn and apply correct grammatical structure at all times.

        1. Hi Heather, I’m glad to hear that. As I said to Kathy, “most teachers and public speakers” was a poor choice of words, and I apologize. There was no need to single out any one profession. As a former teacher myself, I think I’m especially aware of it when I hear errors from teachers. I taught 3rd grade, and the writing process was my favorite thing to teach. At the time, I had no idea I’d end up writing for a living. Funny how life works out.

  5. As a former teacher, your attention to grammar is very appreciated! 🙂 The sale codes are also appreciated! Enjoy your weekend!
