The Softest Hooded Sweater

Greetings and welcome back to 20 Days of Winter Fashion, a seasonal style collab where Cyndi Spivey and I style a new winter outfit every weekday during the month of November!

Today’s look is super casual with this hooded sweater, my favorite blue jeans, and grey suede over the knee boots.

This Loft hooded sweater has a sporty vibe that's perfect for pairing with your favorite blue jeans. I often wear it with my Converse, but I also like this leveled-up casual look with over the knee boots.

This sweater is 40% off today at Loft, and the XS is already sold out, so it’s definitely one to grab now if you like it.

This material is that super soft, stretchy knit that’s so popular right now. Besides being cozy and comfortable, it also keeps its shape, which is really nice! I hate it when sweaters seem to grow as I wear them.

It’s a little longer than some, and it has a relaxed styling that’s perfect for those days when you want to be comfortable but still look put together. Which, let’s face it, is pretty much every day, right???

I also like the sporty hood, raglan sleeves, and split hem — all fun little details that make this the perfect weekend sweater. For size reference, I have the small, so I’d say it runs true to size.

I’m wearing one of my many pairs of AG legging ankle jeans, and these are 30% off today. In fact, Bloomingdale’s has 30% off most of their premium denim right now!

I’ve had this pair for several years, and I still reach for them at least once a week. They have a raw hem and some slight fading for a lived-in look, but there’s no distressing, which is nice because they can be dressed up or down.

The sporty look of the sweater lends itself well to sneakers, and I’ve worn it a few times with my Converse as seen here, but for this look I decided to level it up a bit with these over the knee boots.

I’m a huge fan of these boots, particularly for the whipstitching on the side, and also because the comfort and fit is outstanding. The 1″ heel is perfect for giving you a little height but still being walkable.

They’re on a good sale, but unfortunately the grey is almost sold out. If you like these particular boots, there are a lot of sizes left in the taupe, and it’s a really pretty neutral. I also rounded up a couple of grey options in the shopping widget at the end of this post.

Vince Camuto Kochelda Over the Knee Boots

I carried this grey leather hobo that I picked up at Nordstrom recently. This is a nice mid-size leather bag from Treasure & Bond, and because it doesn’t carry a big designer name, it offers a really good value for the price. It also comes in black and burgundy, and I’ve been kind of kicking myself for not getting the burgundy. In fact, a burgundy bag would be really cute with this outfit!

Since this sweater doesn’t really lend itself to wearing a necklace, I wore bigger earrings. These silver filigree drop earrings are only $16 at Macy’s right now, and I find myself reaching for them often with my casual outfits.

I added my silver link bracelet and link ring to finish the look. If you’re a regular, you know I wear these two pieces almost every day — both were gifts from my husband over the years. Mixing classic higher end designer pieces with more budget-friendly trends keeps things interesting and is a modern way to accessorize.

As simple as it is, I think this look is one of my favorites from the series so far. I really like the contrast of the sporty hood with the soft knit sweater, and the longer length with split hem and relaxed shape is fun for a change. And while I usually wear sneakers with this sweater, I like how the OTK boots take it up a notch while still being comfortable and practical.

  1. 👍… love this look. I too would like my white converse with it as I’m not an over the kneee boot gal😉And yes a burgundy bag would look great too would give it that extra punch:) We have a rain storm coming in Saturday so enjoying the next couple of sunny days. I  just came in from a walk with my friend. Great way to start a day.
    Have a great one

  2. I really like this outfit today! I’m all about comfort while looking put together. So I ordered the leopard print vest after all. I’m the one taking baby steps on leopard but decided to take a leap and ordered it! I can always return it! We shall see!

  3. Oh no, this looks like something I need. I’m trying not to buy sweaters because I have so many, but this is just too cute. And not only is it totally me, but I just got in a pair of tall grey suede boots in! I can easily picture this with my blush bag too…ugh. Need it. 😬

  4. Love this look!  I also love that you can mix and match shoes for a totally different look. The hooded sweaters are fun.  I received the one from Kohl’s that you posted a couple of weeks ago and love it! I think we must have skipped Fall this year and gone right into Winter while I was on vacation! From shorts and sandals to jeans and boots in one day!  It is definitely sweater weather now.

  5. Perfect outfit.  Looks so cute on you.  I LOVE those boots.  How are you getting to wear all your suede boots with sooooooo much rain?  I told myself this season I was NOT going to buy any suede boots, as we usually get soooo much rain this time of year too and then this has been the driest record for us in years.  (NW Oregon).  🙂 (I’m like you, always keeping track of the weather.)  So, I would have had plenty of time to wear these great boots you have been styling.  Oh well.  Maybe LOFT will restock……. I would take the XS in the sweater.  Its perfect. I actually love that length with skinny jeans.  I don’t like the short and wide sweater style that is out right now.  I hate to bother you, but I didn’t see the LIVE link Wed. to your Tues. LIVE.  Did you have one?  If so, could you send me the link to watch.  Have a great day.

  6. This is a great outfit for so many occasions.  It’s interesting that you are sharing a hooded sweater because I am wearing a hooded top today.  What I am wondering is, does the sweater stay in place?  I have to keep pulling on my top because the hood creeps down my back, which is very irritating.  I’m tempted to pin it in place to my bra straps.  Enjoy the sunshine!

    1. I know what you mean, I guess it does. I do pull it forward occasionally, but it’s not constantly. I wore it all day Saturday to my son’s college football game, with a puffer vest over it, and I was very comfy. Because the material is that lightweight/stretchy stuff, it isn’t heavy enough for the hood to be pulling it back… if that makes sense.

  7. Those boots are gorgeous. I remember them from a prior post. At some point, I really need to bite the bullet on your AG jeans, but I am trying to hold out until after Christmas.

    1. Just be sure to take advantage of a good sale! 30% off is pretty good but sometimes you can even do better, if you really watch. Also, watch Nordstrom Rack and Saks Off Fifth. I have bought a couple pairs from my daughter off there b/c they usually are closer to $100.
