The Twist-Front Sweatshirt You Will Want Two Of

Happy Friday, friends! Who has fun plans for the weekend? We have some family visiting from out of town, a college football game tomorrow afternoon, and a family reunion tomorrow night. It should be fun!

Today I’ve got a weekend-ready look that is super cute but also comfortable and easy to throw on and go, featuring this twist-front sweatshirt that came in my last Trunk Club delivery. In fact, this will be perfect for that football game tomorrow.

I wasn’t sure I was going to love the sweatshirt when I pulled it out of the box, but the second I put it on, I was madly in love. I initially envisioned it with light wash jeans and Converse, but I also think it would be cute with white jeans and a grey slip-on sneaker this fall.

I could seriously wear this outfit every day. This sweatshirt is so cozy and soft inside, and the twist front lays nicely without bulging out when you move around as some of these tops tend to do. And while it’s technically a crewneck, it’s more open than most, which makes it more flattering.

I also like how it’s slightly longer in the back than in the front, so you don’t have to worry about mooning the people behind you when you sit down, but it’s still short enough to be flattering. I’m not a fan of the shirts that hang way down in the back.

I apologize for showing such old jeans that are no longer available, but these are the ones I like best with this color top because of the lighter wash. I like the easy, relaxed look of pairing a dark blue top with a lighter wash blue denim, but I always make sure to have some contrast. Since this sweatshirt isn’t a deep navy, I wanted to go with my lightest denim.

This sweatshirt does come in other colors, if blue isn’t your favorite, and there isn’t a bad one in the lot. I actually really like that yellow gold. It runs true to size; I’m wearing the small, which is my usual size in Caslon tops.

I decided not to wear a necklace since there’s so much going on with the front seam and the twist detail. Instead I wore these drop earrings, and I added my favorite link bracelet.

I chose this grey shoulder bag because of how well it works with the lighter sneakers and my silver accessories.

  1. I love sweatshirts like this one that have a little something extra to them because even though I’m into clothes and fashion, what do I wear the most? Sweats… because I’m a mom and spend all day at home and running kids around.

  2. Great outfit… looks super cozy and will be the perfect thing to wear for your weekend. We are heading to the valley to pick apples and pumpkins as a family which includes our daughters fiancé and our sons girlfriend… going to be a nice fall day. I just bought a fall wreath for the front door so will accent with some other fall items like pumpkins 🎃
    Have a great weekend

  3. This is so cute. I do want two, specifically the navy and green, ha. I feel like I don’t buy enough elevated sweatshirts like this. Have a good weekend!

  4.  It’s already iin my closet & I love it!!! Exactly how I plan to wear it next weekend on a boat cruise on the St Croix River to view our fall colors!

  5. This is my kind of outfit!  The knotted tops I’ve tried in the past emphasized an area I don’t want emphasis put on, but it doesn’t look like this top does that.  I was surprised that it should be line dried.  Boy, you do have a fun weekend!  We have no plans, which suites me just fine.  Yesterday I was diagnosed with Sinusitis Acute and am now on 4 meds for it, so I really don’t feel like doing anything.  We have very exciting and fun plans for mid next week, so I want to rest up and get well.  I paid attention to you indicating that you might not get to do a Coffee Talk on Sunday, so I won’t get concerned.  Enjoy your family and fun events this weekend!

  6. Really fun sweatshirt style!  And I love the color.  This is my kind of everyday outfit!  Enjoy your weekend with the family!

  7. I freaking love this top on you!  And yes, I am buying two:-)

The pink paradise and yellow gold are calling out to me.  Normally I’m a plain Jane and always go with neutrals, but I already have a navy sweatshirt and grey sweaters galore, think I need to jazz myself up with some color.

Your weekend sounds divine!  Have so much fun.  IDK about Philadelphia, but MA is GORGEOUS.  Spent the day with the munchkins feeding ducks, hiking, playing in lily ponds, and just enjoying the kids NOT RUSHING ANYWHERE.  Thank God.  It’s like a vacation, just not having to nag the kids to get out the door to school and activities.  Hallelujah!
