5 Things I’m Loving Right Now

I used to do this type of post regularly, and it’s gotten tossed by the wayside, but it’s always a fun one! I have been keeping a list of things I want to share with you. I figure if I’m loving these things, you might love them too!

So in no particular order, here are 5 things I’m loving right now:

Favorite New Board Game: Ticket to Ride

Ticket To Ride

My son requested this game for Christmas, and it’s our new favorite family activity. When he has friends over, he always enlists my husband and/or me to play along. It’s ideal with 4 players, but it works with 3 or 5 as well. It’s definitely geared to older kids, but my 9-year-old can help. My 12-year-old has no interest. She’d rather watch YouTube videos and perfect her latest hairstyle. What can you do… lol!

Favorite New Beauty Product: CND Solar Oil

CND Solar Oil

I went to a new salon (Eden Day Spa, for you locals) last week for a facial and ended up staying for a manicure. Not only was it the best manicure I’ve had in YEARS (7 days later, and it’s barely chipped) but they introduced me to CND Solar Oil. My nails are dry and brittle right now, more so than usual, for some reason. The manicurist recommended that I rub this oil into my cuticles every morning and night. She promised that if I do that religiously, my nails will grow in stronger and healthier. So far, I just like how it keeps my cuticles moist and looking nicer, and I think it might have helped the nail polish last longer too. I’ll keep you posted on the health of my nails.

Favorite New Technology: Sony Alpha a6000 Interchangeable Lens Camera with 35mm f/1.8 lens Prime Fixed Lens

Sony Alpha a6000 Interchangeable Lens Camera

Okay, that is a big ticket item, I know. My husband bought them both for me for Christmas. He’s a gem. I had another mirrorless Sony camera that I received through a blogging promotion. I LOVED IT. And then it broke. Womp womp womp…. After I complained about missing it for months, my husband researched and got me this one. It’s fantastic. I love it. The photos are almsot as good as our pricey DSLR, and it is small enough to slip in my purse.

Favorite New Recipe: Crockpot Potato Soup

Slow Cooker Potato Soup Recipe: the ultimate comfort food, perfect for busy weeknight dinners

Ever since discovering this recipe, I’ve been making it almost once a week. I’ll be whipping up a batch today to take to a friend. It is SOOOO delish. If you haven’t tried it yet, you should!!

Favorite New Kitchen Gadget: Aroma Rice Cooker

Aroma Rice Cooker

I received this for a blogging project I’m working on (more on that to come!) This is one of those kitchen gadgets that I never thought I needed, and now I don’t know how I ever lived without it.

What are YOU loving right now??

  1. We have a similar Aroma rice cooker and looove it. So easy and perfect rice every time. Ours is also a steamer and slow cooker and I think we only paid $30 for it. Worth every penny.

  2. I got a rice cooker from my hubby for Christmas last year and I LOVE it. What I also love right now is the ceramic coated cookware my hubby got for me this Christmas to replace my Teflon pans. They work great and I don’t have to worry about toxins in our food.

  3. I love these kind of posts, it really is nice to get someones input on things that I might not even know existed. I don’t have a rice cooker and always wondered if it would be worth it as counter space is valuable property in my kitchen, I am afraid it would just be another dust collector. Will be nice to see your review. Nice camera too. 🙂 I love my DSLR, but sometimes it is just too bulky at certain times to carry around.

  4. Oh my goodness! We got the game Ticket to Ride for our 9 year old this Christmas, and my husband and I are addicted! We keep hinting (begging) that we would be willing to let our daughter stay up a few minutes later…IF it’s to play another game of Ticket to Ride. So fun!

  5. I think I posted on your Instagram how much our family loves Ticket to Ride, too! My husband and I played it for years and we were so glad when the kids were able to join in. It’s still one of our LONGEST games, so everyone has to be willing to sit still, but we’ve purchased a couple of the expansion sets to get new maps and freshen it up a bit. It’s fun!

  6. Ticket to Ride is currently sitting in our closet unopened. I bought it a while ago when I saw a good deal on Amazon after seeing other people suggest it. Just need to find a time hubby and I are both awake enough to break it out and the toddler isn’t around…

  7. The Rice Cooker is AMAZING isn’t it. We had a smaller one and we used it so much we passed it along to my college age boy (recently graduated) and purchased a larger one. I don’t keep it out on the counter as I have a nice big pantry but seriously, that thing gets a workout!!! Beans are great in it. I was skeptical until I tried it out, just follow the directions for your particular cooker. I also make rice for the dog several times a week (hey, don’t judge-haha) and it is nice to make a big batch and toss in the refrigerator. My family is addicted to Settlers of Catan which I do not particularly care for so maybe I’ll get them to try Ticket to Ride and play along. Have a good Thursday!!!

  8. I have been wanting to try Ticket to Ride. My DD is still a little young, so maybe I’ll wait a year or two. I can’t wait to see what you have coming about the rice cooker. I don’t know much about them, but it looks like it might be a must in the quick/healthy meal category. Nice gift of the camera!! I got my hubby something similar a couple of years ago to bring for easy photos instead of our DSLR. We had it on a boat trip in CA and it went overboard! Now some fish off the coast of Redondo Beach are getting into scrap-booking or maybe blogging! LOL!
