Those Catholics Sure Know How To Throw A Party

I guess that could be a topic for What I Learned This Week, but I couldn’t stand to wait that long to post pictures.  I know who I’m hiring to plan my daughters’ wedding receptions.  I wonder if the bride’s mother is for hire.  We had so much fun, and we partied hard.

Our day started with a trip to the nail salon.  I let both my daughters get their nails done.  I know.  Spoiled much?

Then we stopped by the bride’s house for pictures. Then it was on to the church. Both kids performed their jobs beautifully. Here they are, goofing around in the parking lot before the ceremony.

Here’s the obligatory shot of me in The Dress.  I’m so glad I went with the papaya.  Just pretend like I ironed the skirt.

The reception location provided the perfect backdrop for a photo shoot.  Naturally, being the spaz that I am, I forgot to bring my daughter’s flowers and hairpiece.  My husband saved the day, but he had to get the valet to bring our car around so he could retrieve them.  I’ll be turning in my Mother of the Year crown first thing Monday morning.

At one point, we found ourselves in the middle of a golf game, giving this poor guy a larger audience than he had bargained for.  We all cheered when he barely missed the hole.  I told him he was going to be on my blog.  I suppose that’s permission enough, dontcha think?

After a cocktail reception with live Irish music, we gathered in the dining room for a sit-down dinner and lots and LOTS of dancing.

And of course I have to post a picture of the cake — my favorite part of any wedding.  It was tiramisu cake.  Omigosh.  YUMMO.

My son took our big SLR camera and went around the room snapping shots until the party guests were practically blind from the flash.  He actually took a lot of really good shots.  Some of them are quite comical.  It’s amazing what people will do in front of the camera when there’s a 9-year-old boy behind it.  I ended up being the subject in more than my fair share of the photos.  This one was one of the better ones.

My littlest spent most of the evening like this.  I haven’t uploaded pictures from that camera yet.  I expect the floor and ceiling shots to outnumber the people shots.

It was a long day for her, but she survived.  Around 11pm, she crawled up onto my lap and said, “I want my bed.”  Poor thing.  Finally she fell asleep in her daddy’s arms.

It was after 11 when the band stopped playing, and everyone began to say their good-byes.  We drove home in a torrential downpour and somehow managed to drag ourselves in the house and into bed.

Congratulations, Chris and Kristina!  We wish you a lifetime of love and happiness!

  2. We were at a family wedding last night, too. Someone was wearing your dress and I thought of you. Glad you had so much fun.

  3. LOVE the dress – looks like it was perfect for the occasion. I know you’re proud of your (bigger) little ones playing such an important role in the wedding.

I would KILL for a piece of that cake. Tiramisu is my absolute favorite. I order it whenever it’s on the menu, whether I have room for dessert or not.

Get some rest – y’all have had a busy weekend!

p.s. your kids look awesome, too!

  10. Smokin’ hot!

Interesting choice of color for bridesmaid dresses. I’m not sure I could pull that off, or ask my friends to do so.

And yes, we Catholics know how to party. Drink, dance, swear and then go to Confession. 😉

Your son looks like he has some good moves. If he never loses that willingness to cut a rug he’ll be popular with the girls.

  11. That dress is 100% gorgeous on you. I almost want to run out and buy that exact dress right this minute. But where in the world would I wear it?

Oh, and the shred must be working because your abs are as flat as pancakes. 🙂

  12. That is called a shaper, my dear. 😉 My abs have never been flat as pancakes. Oh, and I was sucking it in for all I was worth. 😉

    But thank you.

And I have it in black too. I kept both. 🙂
