I’m fighting the frump again this week with stylish new dresses. It’s been a while since dresses have been this popular, but this year there are a LOT to choose from. Stephanie at Metropolitan Mama suggested that I do a post on my top "Easter dress picks" from around the web. So here we go!
I like the looks of this black and white number from Ann Taylor Loft.
And I just love a sheath. Picture this with bone-colored shoes and bag.
This is adorable, but not for March 23rd in Pennsylvania. Actually, none of these are suitable for March in Pennsylvania, but then again, we’re used to freezing our tuckuses off on Easter Sunday.
Okay, here’s one that’s more weather-appropriate for those of us in northern climates.
Honestly, I can’t get enough of the Loft. There is really no need for me to ever shop anywhere else. But for those of you who don’t have one or don’t like that price point, here are a few others to take a look at.
This from Old Navy is simple but very pretty. And affordable!
I think this little number from Garnet Hill is gorgeous, but it would definitely be for someone in a warmer climate. Or for, you know, JULY.
That’s available in petite as well. Not that I would ever need a petite, mind you. But some of you daintier types might appreciate that option.

outfit from Boden totally doesn’t say "Easter dress", in fact, it’s not
a dress at all — a skirt and top, rather. But I think it’s so pretty
and fresh. I’d totally wear this to church as well as out for lunch at
the mall with a girlfriend.
And how sweet is this?
Oh, by the way, what do you think of the dress? Ha ha, I’m so funny. I know, I’m really not. Humor me, wouldja?
It is REALLY hard to find dresses that aren’t the wrap style. But here’s one from Banana Republic. I know it looks short, but keep in mind, these models are like seven feet tall. It would probably be more a appropriate length on one of us mere mortals. It’s also available in petite and tall.
And finally, perhaps my top pick, this flowy jewel tone number from Banana Republic. (Flowy is TOTALLY a word. Shaddup.)
By the way, that one is also available in petite.

I love them all, but my favorites are the black and white one and the v-neck paisely print sundress. I’m sad that I’ll be missing out on so many dresses this spring, what with nursing and all. Skirts and shirts for me all summer long.
They are all great, but I have no idea what to wear on Easter without looking like a beached whale, being 5 months pregnant and all. I don’t mind my growing tummy, but all the dresses I have tried on add at least 20 additional lbs, and I just don’t need that.

I actually like the colbalt blue one best, but not for easter. I would wear the aqua one. 🙂
Love that first dress from the Loft. My only problem with ATL and that kind of dress/blouse is that “the girls” don’t go above that line. Please tell me I’m not the only one with that problem?

I think you could wear just about all of these with a jean jacket or hip rib cage sweater and get away with the cooler temps in some parts of the country at Easter.

#1 is conservative a pretty. I think that based on your blog entries that would be your style. I have to say (type) that the blue flowy is splended! I, like you, have dark hair…this is our color!
Easter is a time for the celebration of Christ’s birth! I say celebrate with a flowy jewel toned dress that will not only be beautiful but also very comfortable.

What do you do when some style of clothes or shoes you REALLY love does not look good on you? Does this even happen to other people? That red dress is gorgeous and I sure wish I could wear it, but not on my body type. :-/
I was getting new tires today at Sears and had an hour to wander around. Was I shocked at some of the CUTE stuff in a brand called Apostrophe. They look pretty aweful on the website..Sears being..well, Sears. But there were many cute things that were at incredible pricepoints. Like the cute pea green spring coat on the website

I am a huge fan of Ann Taylor Loft, and justify their price point with their quality and stylishness.
BUT
I pick the Boden skirt.
Why? Skirts I can wear to work, dresses…not so much.

Shannon, I hate it when that happens, but the simple answer is, YOU DON’T WEAR IT. You have to dress for your body, and unfortunately that means letting some styles and trends pass you buy. 🙁 I feel your pain. There are so many adorable things out there that I can never wear.
Susan and Steph, I feel your pain. Honestly, I haven’t dress shopped in so long, I’m kind of rusty on what looks best on us busty types in the dress world. I haven’t tried on any of those dresses I posted, so I can’t speak from experience. Personally, I like a sheath. But they sometimes bubble in the back. Still, for some reason, I have a lot of luck with that style.
Personally, I don’t do very well with wrap dresses, although EVERYONE says that wrap dresses are better for large busts. There is an article at A Mom With Red High Heels that addresses this issue.
