Greetings and hello Monday! Also, hello August! I know I say this at the beginning of every month, but July really flew for me. I can imagine August will be over just as quickly, as there is a lot going on in our household this month!
Meanwhile, I’m taking a look back at last month’s stats to see what products and posts were the most popular and sharing my Top Ten in July!
Top 10 Posts in July 2021
Based on Google Analytics, these were the 10 most popular blog posts that I published last month. These posts are listed in typical Top Ten order, with the most popular one last.
#10. How to Level Up Shorts and a T-Shirt
This might be my favorite outfit all summer, so I’m glad it ranked for this post. The tee and shorts are both sold out, unfortunately, but the hat and sandals are still in stock.
#9. The Best Fourth of July Sales
Well, these are over now, of course. But I’m glad you all liked this post!
#8. What I Wore Lately Vol. 58
These posts are always popular, and this one included my Maine vacation outfits.
#7. Top 10 in June
Well, this is a first! I don’t think one of these posts has ever made the top ten. I don’t know if that means the rest of my content last month was underwhelming, or if you all were just really curious what was popular in June.
#6. Two Classic Summer Looks with Talbots
I’m glad you all liked these looks, and this dress finally went on sale! It’s a nice one for summer, and it runs true to size.
#5. Summer Try-On Haul: Madewell, Evereve, LOFT, Everlane & More
Oh yes, the old Try-On Haul! Always popular, this one includes a lot of cute items that are on sale right now.
#4. How to Wear Crop Jeans with Boots this Fall
I’ve had so many questions about how to wear cropped jeans with booties this fall, so I’m glad you all liked this post!
#3. 2021 #NSale Preview: Early Favorites
Not surprisingly, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale took over the top three this month. This preview post was fun to put together and I love looking back now that I’ve tried everything on. I picked some good ones!
#2. #NSale Dressing Room Try-Ons
The #NSale dressing room try-ons is always popular, so it doesn’t surprise me that this post landed in the #2 spot. I’m glad you all found it helpful.
#1. 2021 Anniversary Sale Try-On Haul
This post was by far and away the most popular post I published this month, and I’m glad my hard work paid off! So many good pieces in here. Even if they’re sold out right now, they may pop back up, so keep an eye on your favorites.
Okay, moving on to popular products…
Top 10 Products in July 2021
These were the 10 most popular products across my blog and social channels last month. They’re listed in typical Top Ten order, with the most popular one last.
Most are from Nordstrom, and a lot are sold out. I’m sorry about that! I almost weeded out the items that are no longer available, but at the end, I decided to stick to the actual stats. If nothing else, it’s interesting! And I expect to see a lot of these items back in stock and on sale again later this fall.
#10. Talbots Slub Cotton V-Neck Sweater
also wearing: pants // necklace
This is the one non-Nordstrom product in this list — such a pretty, classy sweater. If you didn’t snag one, it’s still fully stocked, and on a really good sale.
#9. Louise et Cie Varsan Platform Chelsea Boot
These booties are really comfortable, and I love the combination of Chelsea boot styling on top with a platform block heel on the bottom. This Sandstorm is a great neutral color, as well.
#8. Vince Camuto Welland Booties
My favorite boots in the Nordstrom Anniversary sale this year… and still in stock!
#7. Madewell Story Set of 3 Layered Necklace
I love this necklace set, and it popped back in stock last night, so if you like it, keep an eye on it! It’s actually 3 separate necklaces, so you can wear any combination, and the medallion is reversible — silver on one side and gold on the other.
also wearing: sweater // jeans // boots // bracelet
As y’all know, this is one of my favorite bags from the #NSale this year. I love the leopard print, the roomy tote, and the slouchy silhouette… and amazingly, still in stock! I picked up a black and white strap at Social Threads that I can swap out when I don’t want the navy and red.
#5. AllSaints Lock Roll Neck Wool Blend Sweater
also wearing: jeans // boots // bag // earrings // bracelet
The sweater selection was a bit underwhelming at the #NSale this year, but this is a good one. I’m crossing my fingers for restocks.
#4. Mother The Insider High Waist Crop Step Fray Hem Jeans
also wearing: sweater // boots // bag // sunnies
Glad to see y’all love these jeans as much as I do! They’re pretty much sold out, but random sizes keep popping up, so keep an eye on them if you have them on your wish list. Definitely size up, if ordering — one, or even two sizes if you like a looser fit.
#3. Caslon Split Neck Organic Cotton Blend Thermal Knit Sweater
also wearing: jeans // sneakers // necklace // earrings // bracelet
This top sold out super fast and never restocked, which is so frustrating, I know. Because of that, I’m surprised it ranked so high. I guess those who clicked over found something else to purchase!
#2. NYDJ Marilyn Stretch Straight Leg Jeans
also wearing: sweater // boots // necklace // bracelet
I’m loving this relaxed, full-length silhouette for fall. These jeans keep getting restocked, and they come in two washes, so keep an eye on them if you still want a pair. Definitely size down, if ordering.
And the winner is! Drumroll please . . . 🥁
also wearing: tee // jeans // bag
Such a good cardigan at a great price. I’m bummed the green color is so hard to come by, but there are restocks popping up daily in random sizes, so keep an eye out if you didn’t snag one yet. I know, I keep saying that, but it’s all I’ve got.
I know the #NSale inventory has been a disappointment this year. It has for me too, because when popular items are sold out right away, I feel it on my end too. But fall isn’t even here yet, and I’m sure there are lots of great items still to drop as cooler weather approaches. I’m just excited we all get to go out and actually wear all of our cute clothes this fall.
Speaking of fall, I’ll be back tomorrow with my Fall Wardrobe Essentials! This month, my content will largely be focused on back-to-school prep and fall trends and how to wear them. I’m looking forward to it, and I hope you are too!

Hi – I must pass along this wonderful article about what it is like for a mother to send her kids off to college. It was written by Beverly Beckham of the boston globe in 2006. I cut the article out and saved it. It gave me comfort and I have passed this on to many mothers sending their kids off to college.
Pls make sure Jo-Lynne gets this. If you are not comfortable opening this link, I’ll paste the article in a comment.

Thanks, Catherine!
That’s a really sweet article— thanks for sharing. My son is only 15 but I frequently find myself thinking about the changes to come & get emotional. Just the start of a new school year always gets to me as I think about all the ways he’s grown & changed & how each phase of life with him is constant change. My heart goes out to all the moms who are sending kids off to college, military, or other endeavors.
I enjoy your posts and look forward to them each day. Quick question… Is doing a front tuck more of a fashion trend that will fall away or is it a classic way of styling for the purpose of improving proportion? I use a front tuck frequently to shorten certain tops and visually increase the length of my legs, and I like the look. If it’s a trend that will soon go out of style I’ll be out of luck with a number of my tops. Just wondering if you see the front tuck as something that will begin to look dated or if it will continue to be an appealing way to style tops that would otherwise run a bit too long.
I didn’t get to respond to yesterday’s coffee talk. This is a long weekend and we were away. I totally agree with Pam’s comment. We do our job as parents as best we can and then there comes a day whether leaving for school, getting married, or just moving out on their own that we reap and see our reward for how we’ve raised them! They will succeed they will fail they will make and hopefully learn by their mistakes but more then anything they will always remember what they’ve been taught! Continue to pray for your children and know that when you drop her off she’s in Gods hands and we have to trust him! Hoping Caroline has a great first semester and you all adjust well💕. Love seeing your top posts and most picked pieces!
Just wondering is there any way to make the links so that when you arrive at the website all of the sizes show? I am a petite and was looking for the Loft jeans last week and took awhile on that website to find the same jeans in petite. Today I noticed the same with the Talbot sweater. Only the misses size shows when you link to the website but when I go to the tabs on talbots and search for petite and arrive at the item, a toggle box with all sizes, misses, petite, plus, etc. shows up. I love your loft choices lately. That has always been one of my go to stores.
No, unfortunately, I can’t. It’s a pain, I know.
Hello! I ordered the Clare V simple tote and was surprised how heavy it was. I’m curious what you thought about the weight. Since I think you love the tote, it must not be an issue for you. Thoughts? Thank you!
I was surprised too, but I carried it to the mall and it wasn’t a problem. That wide, soft shoulder strap was comfortable, and it didn’t seem as heavy on my shoulder as it felt holding it in my hand.
I bought, and love, the well and booties. I ordered my regular size and a half size up. I wore both around for a while and ended up keeping my regular size. I have kind of extra thin ankles so my regular size was actually more comfortable for me. I would definitely order two sizes to try if you have same issue. Good luck to miss Caroline! So exciting (though nerve racking at first) time of life!
I always enjoy seeing how items and your posts rank amongst us. I got the Caslon Open Cardigan in the soft peach color since I don’t need to have the olive green color near my face. I just placed an order for the NYDJ Marilyn Stretch Straight Leg Jeans since they had one pair left in the size I needed. Thank you for the recommendation! I hope that band camp got off to a great start for Becca!
Was gone over the weekend, so just catching up on the post….your Coffee talk as well. You got many comments regarding sending a child off to college. I did it 3 times and glad I don’t have to do it again, but it does end up okay and before you know it they are home for Thanksgiving and then again Christmas and those times are even more special. I had my 1st go 1 1/2 hrs. away, then my 2nd to the same college for 1 semester than back home to the local college for nursing and she lived at home for that. Then my 3rd went away 5 hrs. I have a Teacher, now Principle, Nurse and Paramedic/Fireman. They did well. They all do their thing in their way and that is what I see you do so well. You allow each of your kids to do this and not pressure them to be on the 4 yr. “go off to college” plan. I think that can be very stressful for them and not everyone does that. I’m sure Caroline will meet many new friends once she gets there and involved. It will be fun for you to take trips up to see her too when the weather permits. Have a good day and loved your recent posts. I sure hope people will still be wearing skinny jeans. I am having a hard time finding others that work for me….5’3″ and almost 60 yrs. old. The Mother style with the chewed hem that you look so cute in work for the younger, but I feel funny in them. Hoping to get to a store soon to start trying more on.
