Top Ten in June

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of my monthly Top 10 posts, but I intend to bring them back. I guess I need to put this on my editorial calendar at the beginning of each month so I don’t forget.

Anyway, these are my top ten posts and products from the month of June!

Top 10 In June: My most popular posts and products during the month of June 2019

TOP 10 POSTS IN JUNE 2019

Based on Google Analytics, these are my top 10 posts in the month of June. I’m listing these in typical Top Ten order, with the month’s most popular post last.

Alex Mill Ruffle Blouse

#10. Red Ruffle Blouse // This is the post that launched my 25 Days of Summer Fashion series, and it snuck in just under the wire for the 10th spot. This top was also popular last month, but it did not make the top 10 products list.

I agree with those who felt the heart-shaped buttons are too cutesy, and I think that’s why I haven’t worn it more, so I’m planning to get them replaced. Otherwise, it’s such a great little top with some really nice details.

Swimsuit Coverups Under $60

#9. Poolside: 3 Swimsuit Coverups Under $60 // In this post, I shared my newest swimsuit and 3 poolside coverups that are under $30. The only one I kept is this pareo, and I wear it ALL the time.

Summer Outfit Formula to Try: Tie Front Tank + Denim Skirt

#8. Summer Outfit Formula to Try: Tie Front Tank + Denim Skirt // I love every piece in this outfit so much. They work together beautifully but are also great basics that I can mix nad match. In fact, 2 of the 3 made the top 10 products list.

Crop Straight Jeans + Coral Sandals

#7. Crop Straight Jeans + Coral Sandals // Another fun outfit, where each piece has been mixed and matched a bunch of different ways.

I love these bright sandals for a change, as I tend to gravitate to neutrals. They’re also super comfortable and on sale for $29.

A Casual Way to Wear a Kimono

#6. A Casual Way to Wear a Kimono // This is one of my personal favorite outfits from the series. I love how you can dress this kimono up or down, and these jean shorts and sandals are closet basics that I’ve worn over and over this spring and summer.

Boden Linen Voop Tee in Ultramarine with Madewell 9" Mid-Rise Skinny Jeans in Pure White and Sam Edelman Regis Platform Wedge Sandals

#5. Fool-Proof Summer Outfit Formula: Elevated Tee + White Jeans + Sandals // If any single outfit represents my summer style, it is this one.

White jeans, neutral wedge sandals, and a bright top with a few special details is my go-to summer uniform when I want to level up my look for church or dinner out with friends. I adore linen voop tee, and it’s marked down to $22 from $55.

One & Done Dressing with Walmart

#4. One & Done Dressing with Walmart // I will admit, I didn’t love this look, but obviously many of you did. Unfortunately the dress sold out before I could post it, but hopefully you found some more one & done outfit inspiration from the other pieces I linked up.

Summer Beach Vacation Essentials

#3. Beach Vacation Essentials with Nordstrom // C joined me to share our beach vacation essentials and how we go from the beach to dinner without a place to shower and change.

It’s not rocket science — throw on a dress, put a clip in your hair, and you’re off! But I also shared my favorite products for making beach vacations a breeze, and I hope it’s helpful!

Coffee Talk + My Daily Looks

#2. Coffee Talk + My Daily Looks // It cracks me up how, with all of my outfit posts last month, this one was the 2nd most popular, and my try-on haul made #1. Everyone always says they love the seasonal style collabs I do with Cyndi, but they usually aren’t my most popular posts.

It’s a good reminder that people prefer real life content over aspirational pictures… not that the outfits I post aren’t real life. They are totally my real-life style, and usually taken in real-life settings that I typically frequent. But at the end of the day, most people don’t really care much about the backdrop or the photo editing.

That’s comforting to me because I follow a lot of other bloggers, and lately I’ve started to feel like everyone else has more interesting lives or prettier pictures, and maybe they do! But I shouldn’t be competing with anyone else.

You guys are here for me, and the “realest” posts are the ones that get the most traction, so there’s no need to pressure myself into making things look prettier or more interesting than they actually are.

Okay, that got a little deep there for a moment. Moving on to #1… speaking of keeping it real.

Trunk Club Unboxing + Try On Haul

#1. Trunk Club Unboxing + Try On Haul // I suppose it shouldn’t surprise me that this post was the most popular. You guys do love a good try-on haul, and this one was particularly good.

I’m in a bit of a lull at the moment — meaning I don’t have a ton of try-ons to share with you, although I do have a few that I’ll be posting this weekend. But the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is coming, and that is sure to be try-on overload… so enjoy the lull! Ha!

Okay, moving on to popular products…

Given that June was the month of my summer outfit series, there will be a lot of overlap here, but it’s still fun to see what products you all are actually clicking on and buying.

TOP 10 PRODUCTS IN JUNE 2019

Based on my ShopStyle analytics, these were the 10 most popular products across my blog and social channels during the month of June.

Treasure & Bond U-Neck Tank

#10. Treasure & Bond U-Neck Tank // One of my favorite purchases of the summer, I have this tank in 3 colors because it is so hard to find tank tops that aren’t too low-cut in the chest area or under the arms, and it has nice thick bra-friendly straps. I also love the soft, lightweight material and the drape.

I recommend sizing up for a looser fit. I have 2 in the small and 1 in the medium, and I like the fit of the medium best.

This tank now comes in 8 color ways — they keep adding new ones, so I must not be the only one who loves it. I’m sooo tempted to add the Olive Breen Marley Stripe (what a name!) to my collection. It’s perfect for fall!

Handmade Wicker Woven Purse

#9. Handmade Wicker Woven Purse // Woven bags are a super hot trend this summer, and this little bag is a nice alternative to the round ones everyone seems to be carrying.

Warning: it has a strong odor when it arrives, but it dissipates within a few days of use. For $39, it’s a fun little summer bag for those occasions when you don’t need to carry a lot.

Lucky Brand Garston Espadrille Wedge Sandal

#8. Lucky Brand Women’s Garston Espadrille Wedge Sandals (also at Nordstrom and Lord + Taylor) // These sandals are the only shoes to make this top 10 list, and I can see why. They are soooo comfortable, and flattering as well, and they’re a great price for comfort sandals.

I wore these traveling to Maine last weekend and was extremely comfortable walking all those miles through the airport.

Prices vary on Amazon, depending on color and size. They’re on sale at L+T and full price at Nordstrom. I recommend sizing up a half size in these.

Madewell Texture & Thread Button-Front Tie Tank Top

#7. Madewell Texture & Thread Button-Front Tie Tank Top // I love this tank so much, I got it in the black and the mauve. Both are currently on sale for $24.99, and it also comes in 3 other colors. I recommend sizing up a full size — it fits me best in the large.

Old Navy Sleeveless Button-Front Top

#6. Sleeveless Button-Front Top for Women // This is such a cute top, and so affordable. It pairs so nicely with both blue jeans and white bottoms, and it has a relaxed fit with just enough shape through the waist to be flattering.

I love the collarless style with the split neck and the cap sleeves. Easy, breezy! It comes down to $15 in cart, and it runs TTS or a little big. Size down if in between. I have it in the small.

J.Crew Tie-front tank top

#5. J.Crew Tie Front Tank Top // Such a great basic, perfect for pairing with shorts, jeans, or skirts. I have it in the grey, and I just ordered the white.

It’s true to size; I have the small. I was worried about it shrinking, but just last night I washed it on cold and hung it to dry, and it maintained its size and shape beautifully.

Daily Ritual Women's Jersey Short-Sleeve Boat Neck Shirt

#4. Daily Ritual Women’s Jersey Short-Sleeve Boat Neck Shirt // This one was truly a surprise because I only featured it on Facebook, but it sold like hotcakes.

It’s a great little basic, has a nice fit and a great drape, and it comes in a bazillion colors. Oh, and it’s also just $14.50 with free Prime shipping.

J.Crew Faux-Wrap Pull-On Midi Skirt

#3. J.Crew Faux-Wrap Pull-On Midi Skirt // This cheerful print is truly a stand-out, and it’s such a fun little summer skirt. Pair it with a white tank and your favorite sandals, throw on a denim jacket, and you’re ready to face the day! It comes in 3 other prints as well, and it runs TTS.

KUT from the Kloth Lauren Crop Jeans

#2. KUT from the Kloth Lauren Crop Jeans // Love these crop straight jeans — the fit is super flattering, and they have a nice, summery wash. Definitely size down if in between. I have these in the 6, for reference. They also come in petite sizes.

LOFT Fern Kimono

#1. LOFT Fern Kimono // Such a versatile piece, easy to dress up or down. I love the length on this kimono, and the material is nice and soft and drapey. I actually featured it twice last month — perhaps why it is the most popular product of the month.

It’s currently 40% off, and only the XS/S is left, but it’s pretty roomy and should fit a wide range of sizes.

And that’s a wrap! I’d love to hear your thoughts, and if you added any of these pieces to your wardrobe.

  1. We like you, you’ve made us feel a part of your life, friends and if I had your figure I’d wear exactly what you do!

  2. #5 foolproof summer outfit is my favorite. I have used this as inspiration several times already. I love when bloggers style their own outfits, rather than using advertisement models. I can imagine myself in your outfits (I don’t have to like them all :-), but when looking at young, skinny models, I can not imagine how that outfit will look on me. (I have a similar body shape to yours except I cannot get rid of my stomach ugh!) By the way I decided to keep the Loft skirt you styled (I went for the 8 as the 6 seemed to pull a little at the buttons). Now I have a summer skirt! Thanks for all your ideas!

    1. I’ve got a bit of a belly too. It’s exasperating, isn’t it??? I’ve always carried extra weight there, and age doesn’t help. Oh well! Happily there are a lot of tricks to disguise it with fashion. 🙂

      1. Stress doesn’t help – my therapist says that stress makes your body produce cortisol which produces belly fat. So, menopause (from over 2 decades ago) and stress and then add that it is harder and harder to lose weight as my metabolism slows. I can lose all kinds of things (keys, notes, lists), but not that around my belly – no matter what I eat or how I exercise. Maybe a post on disguising this part of the body with fashion! 🙂 As always your posts are so helpful to me!

        1. Yes, I’ve heard that about stress, which is interesting, because I probably create stress where there needn’t be any, ha! I tend to work better under pressure and kind of enjoy the adrenaline rush when things are a little chaotic. I wonder if that’s why I’ve always carried some extra weight there.

  3. I bought the Treasure & Bond tank the first time you featured it and I was underwhelmed when it came in the mail. I decided to keep it though and I wear it all of the time!

  4. Thanks for this round up. Good ideas! I just cannot get into summer fashion? It seems repetitive from last summer? ( probably just me). Looking forward to fall trends so I am staying tuned!
As always Jo Lynne you look so cute!

    1. I dunno… last summer was all off-the-shoulder tops, and cold shoulder was still a thing. This year I’m seeing none of that, but I’m seeing more skirts, and the crop straight and wide legged crop styles are taking off. Even casual dresses seem more of a thing this year.

That said, I agree that summer fashion is by nature more repetitive than other seasons b/c we don’t have as many layers and accessories to add interest and change things up. I’m looking forward to fall fashion too!

  5. You are real and we all appreciate that!  You are my favorite blogger and I look forward to your emails and blogs every day.  I ordered that kimono in two different colors – the pink and a blue print – and the blue print fit better for some reason.  I loved the pink so much, but it was just too big.  But I am enjoying the blue one.  My first kimono!  Thanks for finding a shorter one!

  6. I think you have figured out that the reason we all read your blog is because you are down-to-earth and provide us with a real-life glimpse of outfits. We don’t need gimmicks or out-of-this-world venues. When I click on a link and see a clothing item on a model, I think, nope don’t want that. But when I see an item that you are wearing, I see all sorts of possibilities. You really do make us feel that we are talking with a good friend and I for one, really appreciate that.

  7. I’m glad that you had an enjoyable birthday!  While I enjoy seeing the scenery from your area, what you are wearing is #1.  And I do like that you keep it real.  Our lives are not perfect, so trying to make everything around you look perfect isn’t necessary.  All you’ve got to do is be yourself and stay true to who you are.  I did not buy any of the top 10 items, but that’s okay.  Have an awesome day!

  8. The striped tank/shorts outfit in your coffee talk pic above is my favorite! I have the tank in my Nordstrom cart right now, but haven’t pulled the trigger for two reasons. First, I have a million tanks, including grey, and grey and white (I hate to say that grey is my favorite color to wear, but it really is!), and second, I also have a pair of AG Boyfriend jeans in there that haven’t gone on sale. I really want them to, because $235 is out of my comfort zone (especially with the anniversary sale coming up), but I love the wash. I bought a pair of AG Boyfriend jeans during the last anniversary sale and wear them ALL. THE. TIME. I’ve definitely gotten cost per wear down to a reasonable amount, but again…they were on sale. I did see that there is going to be another pair of the AG boyfriend jeans for this sale, but I don’t love the wash as much. So…decisions. Ha!

I’ve really enjoyed the series with you and Cyndi, but I do have to say I enjoy your daily looks and try-on hauls the most. 🙂 Thanks for keeping it real!

  9. I agree with the others! I have read your blog for years because you are not only beautiful but you keep it real!! It is such a blessing to find someone like that:)

  10. I had that pink kimono in my cart and when I got the free shipping email from Loft today I went to order it and, alas, it was sold out in the XS/S. Bummer. So I ordered a pretty blue one and will see! I also ordered the ikat tie blouse (didn’t make your Top 10 but it’s so cute!)  Always enjoy these posts!

  11. Love your blog for you: authentic and down to earth. There are many bloggers/ influencers out there. Most make me feel inadequate and are not good for my self esteem. I’m not a size 2 or a model and can’t go travelling to exotic locales every month! Thats why you are loved by so many of us: you are real like the rest of us. Ignore the bloggers “noise” out there and keep being you. 😉

  12. Your trunk club unboxings and try on hauls are my favs.  All selfies.  I do like scenery but it doesn’t make a difference to me when considering a purchase.  I also enjoy the seasonal collaboration series.  The variety is nice. I appreciate when you point out too big armholes, too low necklines, etc.  I’m a tad taller than you, relatively same size on top, up a size or two on bottom. As someone else here commented, it helps to see clothing on a real person who is similar in size so we can tell how it REALLY looks. I see an item on store websites and pass it by thinking it’s a sack. Then I see same on you and it ends up in my closet.  I’ve purchased many items you’ve featured.  For June it was the Kut from the Kloth crops which I’m wearing at this moment. Love them. You are an excellent curator and picky, I love that about you.  Don’t worry about other bloggers. Some of their blogs read like an annual Christmas letter where everything is rosey – all of the time. We all know that’s not possible.  Thanks for keeping it real. It’s a breath of fresh air.

  13. Happy Belated Birthday! I am glad you had an awesome day! (I am sorry for being late in sending you my birthday wishes) I will not forget next year!😊

  14. You did feature the Daily Ritual jersey tee in your Trunk Club unboxing post – that’s how I knew to order mine and am so pleased with it! 🙂 I can only echo what others have said, Jo-Lynne. You have a lovely, natural way of writing and you are so relatable with your honesty about the ups and downs of real life. I don’t need to see exotic locations or OTT poses, though I do like the pretty pictures when you do your outfit posts – they are stylish, but still reflect normal life and surroundings. Thanks again for being your natural self and sharing with us something of your life. We are all the richer for it.

    1. Ahhh… I guess I did. That makes sense now. I was wondering how it did so well from one Facebook post. My blog gets a lot more eyes on it than my FB page.

And thanks for the encouragement. xo
