Top Ten Products Of 2020

Greetings and salutations on this first Monday of 2021!  ✨ I love Mondays. I love the fresh start, clean slate feeling… so the first Monday of a whole New Year has me positively giddy.

Paul and the kids were aghast when I said I couldn’t wait for January 4th. For them, it means back to the grind… or, you know, work and school. But when you love your job as much as I do, it doesn’t feel much like work.

What’s the saying? Do what you love, and you’ll never work another day in your life… I know how fortunate I am to be able to live that out, and I don’t take it for granted.

While I’m all about looking ahead and not behind, I want to finish up my 2020 recap posts before moving on to new topics, so today I’ve rounded up the most popular products from my blog and social media channels last year.

Top Ten Products from 2020

These are listed in typical Top Ten countdown order, with the most popular item at the end.

#10. Chelsea28 Cowl Neck Sweater

This cowl neck sweater was a hot commodity at the 2019 #NSale, where it sold out quickly and didn’t get restocked until much later, and it was full price for most of the winter.

They brought it back this year, and it was once again one of my most popular items. It’s a great price point, very comfortable, trendy without looking try-hard. All in all, a nice piece.

It’s currently 40% off and it runs a bit big, although I have my usual small.

#9. Zella Live-In Pocket Joggers

I suppose it’s appropriate that these made the Top Ten since 2020 should pretty much be referred to as The Year of the Jogger. I wore mine a lot in 2020 because I went to physical therapy twice a week for a hip injury all through the spring and summer.

While I’m not one to wear loungewear on the daily, joggers can be easily dressed up with fashion sneakers and a denim jacket or cardigan, and I don’t feel quite as schlumpy wearing them as I do, say, leggings or sweatpants.

#8. Daily Ritual Knit Dolman-Sleeve Boat-Neck Dress

This one seems kind of random, as I only featured it once or twice, but it’s really flattering for a comfy dress. Hopefully they’ll bring it back this year. (Wearing a small.)

#7. Spanx Perfect Black Pants

These pants are suuuuper flattering and so comfortable to wear all day. You can easily dress them up or down.

Love the detail at the ankle and the seam up the back…

I have the medium, which means they run TTS if you follow the size chart on the Nordstrom website. (M=6-8)

#6. Nordstrom Signature V-Neck Cashmere Sweater

This gorgeous cashmere v-neck is almost gone, but if you can score one, it’s really nice quality. It looks great alone and layered…

In fact, it’s so nice, I bought it twice! I love the seaming details and the cross-over ribbed trim at the v-neck. It’s TTS; I have the small.

#5. AG Farrah Ankle Skinny jeans

One of my all-time favorite styles of denim, these jeans have a 10″ rise and 28″ inseam, and they’re 40% off right now.

If you don’t care for that chewed hem, there are lots of other Farrah washes to choose from, many with a traditional sewn hem.

This pair from Bloomies is a little bit lighter than the ones I’m wearing above, and they have a plain raw hem. I chopped an inch off so they look better with sneakers.

These also come in black. Both the blue and black are currently on sale — up to 30% off, depending on the size of your order.

These jeans usually run true to size, but this grey pair runs REALLY small. I’d recommend sizing up in those.

#4. Vince Camuto Denim Jacket

I have so many pictures wearing this jacket, I had a hard time picking just a few. It’s the perfect shade of blue to go with just about everything.

Looks great with dresses too…

Oh, and did I mention joggers?

It’s currently 40% off, and it runs TTS; I have the small.

#3. Halogen V-Neck Cashmere Sweater

This sweater should need no introduction. I’ve talked about it so much, you’re probably ready for me to put a sock in it, but there’s a reason it’s in the Top Ten. It’s really good.

See several ways I’ve styled it here:

I like it so much, I also have it in black…

It’s still 50% off with a lot of sizes and colors left! Such a good basic, but I will warn you, it does pill, so don’t be surprised by that. Pick up a sweater stone if you don’t already have one.

This sweater is TTS, with a generous fit. I wouldn’t recommend sizing down, but I guess you could if you want a closer fit.

#2. Daily Ritual Supersoft Terry Open Sweatshirt

This cardigan is from last spring, but some colors and sizes are still available at Amazon. I have the size small. It’s more of a sweatshirt than sweater, and it has pockets. Really cute and comfy, highly recommend!

And first place goes to . . . *drum roll please* 🥁

#1. Yidarton Leopard Print Tee

By far and away, the top seller on my blog and social media channels last year was this animal print tee — an Amazon dupe for the pricier ATM cheetah tee that was part of the #NSale.

It’s a decent quality for the price point, and it comes in a few other necklines and animal prints. In fact, I ordered this v-neck leopard print version first (A-leopard-v Neck), and then when I realized it came in the crewneck cheetah version (A-leopard03), I decided to try that as well.

These tees layer nicely under denim jackets/moto jackets/cardigans, and they can stand alone as well. I found them TTS; I ordered the small in both.

And that, as they say, is a wrap!!!

I still plan to do my best and worst purchases of 2020, but I’m not going to post those right away. I kind of need a break from looking back at 2020, don’t you???

So tomorrow I’ll be back with a new outfit, and I’ve got What I Wore Lately planned for Wednesday. I’m meeting Alison this morning to shoot a look with Zella that will go up later this week, and I hope to have a Winter Try-On Haul for you as well. I need to see if I have enough items to fill a post… or maybe I’ll go shopping!

I’ve been wanting to check out LOFT and see if they’re getting their act together yet. With all of their restructuring, they’ve been kind of off their game lately. Any other retailers you’d like to see me feature? Let me know!

  1. I’m not usually a big fan of look-back posts but I’m actually very interested in you best and worst purchases post. Great idea! I agree about Loft. I’ve always bought a lot from there but the new offerings seem ho hum.

  2. I just received the Vince Camuto denim jacket over the weekend, and I already know I will wear it a lot!! I was a little hesitant to order it as I like the Kut from the Kloth denim jacket I already own, but I think this Vince fits a bit better and is more comfortable. Glad I finally made the purchase!

  3. I ordered the Halogen cashmere but immediately returned it when I saw it was made in China. Do you have that issue? It’s not a new development for me. I always look for USA made items. I wish the retailers would state the country on their site instead of just saying imported. I also really wish I could find a quality retailer with all clothes made in the USA. Think you can find one, Jo-Lynne?

    1. I don’t usually pay attention — I assume most everything is made overseas. But if I do see a made in America item, I try to note it b/c i know some ladies are looking for those. I will try to keep an eye out for more!

  4. Looking forward to what you find at Loft. I used to always have such good luck there, but their sizing has gotten so wonky. It seems like everything is running really short and wide, even if the description doesn’t say the item is cropped. Happy New Year!

  5. This was a fun review!  I helped with the #1 tee, and you are so right, the quality of really good for the price point.  So, why don’t wear my jean jacket more!!  It stays in my closet year round, and I may reach for it 1% of the time.  You, Cyndi, and Kay all wear yours so often and give us so many ways to wear them, which I like, but …  I need to start off this new year making more of an effort to style mine.  How much snow/sleet did y’all get?  Your outlook on Monday’s has helped me to change my opinion of them, for the better, so Thank You!  I read your Coffee Talk yesterday, but need to read it again so that I can provide a decent reply.  Make it a great day!

    1. LOL, isn’t that funny? Some clothing items are like that. They may be great, but I don’t reach for them, for whatever reason. Maybe it just doesn’t suit your lifestyle… or you don’t like the one you have?

  6. I would like to see LOFT. I’m having hard time purchasing online with them as everything seems so short and wide, so would be good to see you try things on and give a commentary.  Usually they are my go to place for quality and price… sales all the time. Can’t believe it’s Jan 4 th. I’m not working so it really wasn’t the giddy you talked about when I woke up. I need more to do in this covid world we are stuck in. Miss my friends and routine…. bible study, church volunteer etc. Praying for what God has next. We learn through each season of life. Enjoy your snow. I’d love to get some.

    1. It would be hard to be bored amidst all of this. I hope you find a new outlet for your free time. Do you like crafts or knitting? My 18-y/o just taught herself to knit with YouTube videos.

  7. I know you’ve tried some if not all of these stores, but I’d love to see more from Garnet Hill, Boden, All Saints, H & M, Everlane, and other smaller stores/designers. That’s my two cents. I do love reading your blog – each morning I leave your post for last, it’s like my e-mail dessert 🥰. Take care – Katie

  8. I finally took your encouragement and bought a ripped hem pair of jeans – actually 2. I guess I am a lulu but do you trim all those strings that are attached? They catch my toes as I put them on – just asking as I am really old school.
I like the idea of Worst Buys and just get it over with and then we can say ba-bye to 2020! haha
And finally, have you ever bought furniture online – as in living room chairs? It’s one thing to return a pair of shoes you don’t like, but a chair?? YIKES

    1. You make me laugh… a lulu. I am going to have to borrow that. I do cut off the ones that get really long, but I try not to cut them off so it’s a straight hem. The raggedy edge is part of the charm. 😉

  9. Gahhh!! I want that Vince Camuto denim jacket, why do I hesitate to buy it??? I worry I won’t use it a lot-but I love it!

  10. Hmmmm…I thought it was just me who has been disappointed with Loft. They were definitely my go-to, especially because of their petite department. Please keep us posted with what you find!

  11. I would love to see some posts with clothes from Evereve. I rarely shop at Loft anymore as I find their sleeves too short and sometimes feel like their clothes don’t have that casual comfy edge. I love in your emails when you point out items that you’ve featured on your blog previously that go on deep discount or can be found at Nordstrom Rack. Beauty/skin care posts are always welcome too. Thanks for all that you do! Happy New Year! I love Mondays too.

  12. Hi Jolynne,
I purchased the Yidarton leopard print Tee in two sizes. Love It ! One size fits me perfect and the next size up is a little loose not baggy but just looks ok.  Have you washed yours yet? Is there any shrinkage? I think if the top shrunk, I would have to rule the smaller size out.
    Bernadine

    1. I have the ATM tee, so I tried the Amazon tee to show another option, but I didn’t keep it. So I can’t say how it washes. I would expect it to shrink a bit, though, especially if you plan to dry it. Almost all t-shirts do.
