Transition Outfit

Fall Transition Outfit: Lush Crepe Blouse in Grape Leaf with White J Brand Jeans and Vince Camuto Feina Booties

Hello, friends! Happy August 1st!!! It’s hard to believe, isn’t it? Summer is flying by, as usual.

Today’s outfit is a combination of fall and summer wardrobe pieces, making it a great transition outfit as we start to think ahead to fall. I absolutely love this Lush Woven V-Neck Blouse because it’s affordable, on trend, and you can wear it now and later.

I almost styled it with shorts and booties, but then I decided that while that’s a cute look, it’s probably not one I would actually wear anywhere. This outfit is more practical for the average suburban mom. Of course you can sub non-distressed jeans if these aren’t your jam.

I do love these J Brand jeans, though. They have such a great fit and the perfect amount of distressing for my taste. I personally prefer subtle rips to gaping holes. I keep hoping to find them on sale again, but so far, no dice. I’ll keep you posted!

This top isn’t see-through, but it is cut pretty low and may require a cami for some of us. I didn’t bring one with me to Maine, so I have it sitting back on my shoulders to avoid over sharing, ahem . . . But otherwise I really like it. I will probably wear a nude cami to avoid breaking up the V-neckline, but black or white would work as well.

Here’s a view from behind. This blouse is longer in the back and shorter in the front, which is a huge trend right now. Because it drapes so nicely, it doesn’t seem to add a lot of visual weight, as this style of blouse can tend to do. For size reference, I’m wearing my usual medium. I’m 5’5″ and 140-ish.

These are the Vince Camuto Feina Booties, on sale for $99 during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I’ll let you know if they get restocked. Similar styles that I like are the BP. Tandem Bootie in Khaki Suede ($79 on sale) and the Sam Edelman Rudie in Putty Suede ($99 on sale) — this is similar in color to the Feina Booties I’m wearing.

I carried my Tory Burch Convertible Crossbody, also from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I like how the color works with the Feina booties. They’re sort of a taupe, so they have grey undertones and pair well with a grey bag.

My bracelets are an Alex and Ani set, also on the #NSale. I went with larger earrings and didn’t bother with a necklace, although I think something in the neckline would be nice.

I hope you all had a great weekend. I spent most of mine getting organized. Paul and I went to Ikea on Saturday and picked up this free-standing clothing rack, and last night we got it set up and I moved all the fall stuff out of my closet.

Then I mentioned something about needing more light in our bedroom for my mirror selfies (#fashionbloggerproblems) and from there we ended up re-arranging the bedroom to make room for a bigger mirror and lighting. So today my assignment is to go shopping for a bigger mirror. I’m hoping Home Goods has something.

Have a great day!

  1. Happy Monday AND a new month, all wrapped into one! This teacher needs a month between July and August! Where is summer going?? Love the colors of the top, booties, and bag! They are screaming Fall! Enjoy the day!!

  2. I don’t know if it is just me but I had to go to Google just now to find your post. I normally receive them in my e-mail. I thought you may like to know.

Love the blouse and the high low hem.

    1. The same thing happened to me last week. I removed myself from the mailings, then signed up again and I’m getting them again. I assumed it was my computer or email server.

  3. I bought this top from the big anniversary sale – love it, but the sleeves are way to skinny. I don’t have huge arms, super frustrating. It’s going back today.

  4. Hi Jo-Lynne! This is a great transition outfit! Even though we are moving to the country, and I mean out in the middle of nowhere, I thought about ordering the top, but it says it’s dry clean only. That won’t work for me unfortunately.

Good luck finding the right big mirror today! If you have Hobby Lobby in your area, that’s another great place to look.

    Have a blessed day!

    1. I have machine washed my Lush shirt in cold water and hung it to dry. It still looks the same to me;-)

I need to remember to wear my white skinnies with the olive shirt and tan booties. It looks really fresh, not sure why I always automatically go for my blue jeans skinnies …

  5. Thanks for posting a lower heeled option in the booties. I really can’t walk well in anything over 2 inches. Love the way the heels look on you though! I just purchased the fringe booties!
Question: If I can’t wear skinnies to work, how would you suggest styling a slightly wider leg pant with the booties? Or is that not an option? 🙂 See–here is yet another reason we all follow your blog–we all have style questions! Happy Monday!

  6. Super cute! I bought that same top in blue and it is so cute, but like another commenter, I found the cuff part to be a little tight around my arm. I feel like I could actually size down in the shirt but them I’m afraid the arms wouldn’t fit. I’ll just wear a cami under, I guess. Do you find the cuffs to hit at a weird spot and kind of constrict when moving your arms? I seem to have that issue with these kinds of tabbed/cuffed sleeves.

  7. Jo-Lynne, I love the idea of you showing us “vetting” pieces and outfits. My friends are always asking me how I find such great pieces/outfits and I keep telling them you have to try tons of things on to find items you love. Because I live in a rural area, I shop online almost exclusively. My husband teases me that returning things is my hobby! He’s fascinated by the number of boxes that come and go.

  8. This outfit looks great on you!! The color of the top really complements you!! I just ordered it in black..

  9. Lol, why take your fall stuff out of your closet? Isn’t it almost time to put it in? Now that my back is,all whacked out, I’m truly hoping we have a warm fall like 2015 so I can take my time getting summer stuff out and winter stuff in…maybe I’ll do a fall capsule and live with only a few selected pieces! I like the olive and white together along with the taupe as accents….nice job Jo-Lynn!
