Trunk Club Unboxing & Ankle Skinny Jean Comparison

Because I evidently didn’t have enough clothes to sort through after my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale shopping spree, I also requested a new Trunk Club delivery. I guess I figure I might as well knock my fall wardrobe all out at once. At least I’ll be set for our 26 Days of Fall Fashion next month!

Earlier this week I tried on everything that was in my Trunk and shared it on Snapchat. I have tried 147 ways to download my Snapchat unboxing so I can post it on Facebook for you, but technology isn’t cooperating with me today so pictures will have to do.

trunk club

First, for those who aren’t familiar with Trunk Club, it’s a fashion styling service owned by Nordstrom. You actually have your own personal stylist at your beck and call. She will likely offer to hop on the phone with you and get to know you and your style before she sends your first Trunk, and you can email or call her at anytime afterward.

All of their merchandise is sourced from Nordstrom, and it is all currently available on the website, so you know you’re not getting last year’s leftovers. Not that there’s anything wrong with that… but you can also cross-check the prices and make sure you’re not getting upcharged. You pay exactly what it the items are going for on the website, so if something goes on sale before you make your final decision, you will get the sale price. You have 10 days to try on and return the products you don’t want, there is no styling fee, and shipping is free both ways.

Even if you enjoy shopping and have time for it (like me), this is a great way to discover products you might not otherwise choose for yourself. But it is really ideal for those who are too busy to shop and aren’t sure what they need. Your stylist will work with you to find styles that work for you and fit your budget.

For this Trunk, I actually asked for splurge items. Not everything from Trunk Club is this pricey, and in my experience the stylists are great about trying to stay within your budget, but I figured this was a good opportunity to try some higher end brands and report back to you since a lot of what I ordered from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale was from their more budget-friendly departments.

In the interest of full disclosure, I am not in a working relationship with Trunk Club, but all of the links in this post are my referral link. Everyone who signs up gets a referral link to share with their friends, so you can earn credits to shop with, which is another great bonus to trying it out!

So let’s get started.

trunk club unboxing: sharing my latest Trunk Club unboxing for fall 2016 and comparing a bunch of different premium denim ankle skinny jeans.

Trunk Club Unboxing

My stylist sent me several pairs of premium denim to try. You know jeans are my love language, and every pair she sent was an A+ so I have to make some tough choices.

The first pair I tried on is by Frame. I’ve seen these jeans on other bloggers, but I’d never tried this brand. These are AMAZING jeans. Yes, the price point is up there, but the fit is fantastic, and they are supremely comfortable. They’re the Le Color Skinnies in Film Noir.

I’m showing you a front and a side view. These are considered ankle length, but every brand has a different interpretation of that. For example, these have a 29″ inseam, but the other ankle length jeans I’ll show you below have a 28″ inseam, and you’re going to see that one definitely looks better on me than the other. These also have a 8 1/4″ front rise, which is considered a mid-rise, and they have a 10 1/4″ leg opening.

black frame side

Now, to compare, these are the AG Ankle Super Skinny Jeans in Coal Blue. I don’t know what happened to the side view of these. Ooops!

AG with flats

Also shown: PAIGE ‘Ranleigh’ Scoop Neck Tee and Sam Edleman Felicia Flats in Classic Nude Leather

These have a 28″ inseam and a 7 1/4″ front rise, so they’re definitely a low-rise. This is not my favorite rise, but I do really like the wash and the fit of these jeans. I’m not crazy about this length with flats. I think the extra inch in the Frame pair makes a big difference — elongating the line of the leg and making me look thinner.

But look at them with a wedge sandal. Now, this works. Isn’t that interesting? (I think it’s interesting. LOL!)

AG with wedge sandals

Here I have cuffed them with ankle boots. (These ankle boots also came in my Trunk, and ohmyword… but more on those in a sec.)

SW ankle boots front

Also shown: PAIGE ‘Ranleigh’ Scoop Neck Tee and Stuart Weitzman Grandiose Pointy Toe Ankle Boots

Last winter, I remember struggling with which jeans to wear with ankle boots and how to cuff them (or not.) If your jeans are too long, there is too much fabric to cuff, and it can be bulky. Also, if the jeans are too wide at the ankle, they can throw the whole look off. These 28″ jeans with the 10″ leg opening are pretty much perfect for cuffing and wearing with ankle boots. (At least, for me. Everyone has to find this sweet spot for herself, but hopefully this helps you figure out yours.)

Let’s talk about the fabric content for a sec. The AG are also made primarily of rayon. I can definitely feel the difference between these and the Frame, which are primarily cotton.

Here is the fabric content of the AG: 58% rayon, 21% cotton, 20% polyester, 1% spandex.

The Frame is 92% cotton, 6% polyester, 2% elastane.

The Frame feel thicker and stretchier. They didn’t seem to stretch out at all as I wore them for an hour or so. I’m wearing the AG today, and they do stretch out slightly with wear, but not enough to bag out or anything. They just get more comfortable as the day goes on, whereas the Frame were comfortable the minute I put them on, and they don’t loosen up much at all. The material of the AG also feels thinner, like more of a summer jean.

As you can see, there are so many factors to consider when choosing a pair of jeans. Also, for size reference, both the Frame and the AG are a size 29, which is the size I normally wear, although sometimes I size up to a 30.

My stylist also sent me 2 pairs of Paige Skyline Skinny Jeans. These are size 30, and I like the fit. In my experience, Paige runs small so I usually have to size up. These are the Paige ‘Skyline’ Skinny Jeans in Everdeen. I love this wash. It’s similar to the AG above.

PAIGE 'Skyline' Skinny Jeans (Everdeen)

Paige Skyline with flats

Also shown: PAIGE ‘Ranleigh’ Scoop Neck Tee and Sam Edleman Felicia Flats in Classic Nude Leather

These have a 31″ inseam with a 12″ leg opening (compared to 10 on the AG and Frame pairs above) and a 8 1/2″ front rise (same as the Frame.) I definitely prefer an 8 1/2″ or a 9″ front rise for the comfort factor and to hold all my jiggle in place (ha!) but I like a lower rise for front-tucking. When the jeans are too high, a front-tuck throws off your balance and proportion.

Again, the sweet spot is different for everyone, and it takes some trial and error to figure it out. Taking pictures of yourself definitely helps you see the balance more than simply looking at yourself in the mirror.

I will need to hem these if I keep them, but if you’re taller, they might fit you perfectly. I’m 5’5″.

Because these jeans have a more relaxed fit in the calf and a wider leg opening, they would look good on someone who is trying balance out wider hips. On me, they aren’t my favorites for wearing with flats or ankle boots, but I do like this wider calf style for wearing with heels — especially pumps and high heeled sandals. Take a look. (I tucked them up to about the length I would want them hemmed to. In this case, I would have them hemmed specifically for the shoes I want to wear with them… another reason I prefer ankle length jeans. So much less stress! They go with every type of shoe.)

Paige with heels

Also shown: PAIGE ‘Ranleigh’ Scoop Neck Tee and Sam Edelman Carrson Sandals

The fabric is similar to the AG and I would say it feel similar as well: 54% rayon, 23% cotton, 22% polyester, 1% spandex.

Another pair of jeans I tried (not from Trunk Club, but for denim comparison purposes) are the Joe’s Ankle Skinny Jeans in Rikki from the #NSale. They have a 28″ inseam with a 10 1/2″ leg opening and a 9″ front rise. I ordered these for their 9″ rise, but they also have the 28″ inseam, which I don’t care for so much with ballet flats, and I wear ballet flats a lot, especially in the fall.

joe's side

joe's front

The material is 98% cotton, 2% elastane, so similar to the Frame — very comfortable and stretchy but thick.

These also have a 10 1/2″ leg opening, compared to the 10″ leg opening on the AG, and that half inch in the leg opening matters. I feel like these cut my leg off even more than the AG pair, plus they have more material to cuff when I want to wear them with ankle boots and more bulk to stuff into tall boots, so these are probably better for someone with wider calves (although if they were an inch longer, they might look nice on me with ballet flats and flat sandals.)

While we’re comparing jeans, let me show you the Paige Verdugo from the #NSale. These are 54% rayon, 23% cotton, 22% polyester, 1% spandex, like the Skyline Skinnies, but they’re an ankle jean and tighter through the calf. They are very stretchy and soft and comfortable. I’m wearing the size 30.

paige verdugo front

Also shown: WHBM Soft Touch Pocket Tank and Sam Edelman Reyanne Pointy Toe Flats

They have a 28″ inseam with a 10 1/4″ leg opening and a 8 3/8″ front rise. Once again, I wish they were an inch longer.

They’re meant to be super skinny and fitted through the calves, making them ideal for tucking into boots. I have these in pink and mint, and I ordered them from the #NSale in the Tari wash as well as the Aubergine. I’m definitely keeping the Aubergine, but I think I’m going to send the Tari back. They’re fabulous jeans, but I think I like the AG just a smidge more. I also like the back pockets on the AG better.

I have one more pair to show you before we move on to the tops and boots that came from Trunk Club. These are the Hudson Krista Ankle Jeans in Stormy Hor from the #NSale.

hudson grey front

hudson jeans side

Also shown: PAIGE ‘Ranleigh’ Scoop Neck Tee and Sam Edelman Reyanne Pointy Toe Flats

I looooove these! They have just the right amount of distressing, and they are also verrrry stretchy and comfy. I have a pair of the Hudson Krista Crop that I wear a lot, and they keep their shape while being plenty stretchy for comfort. They tend to slide down, though. I am more comfortable when I wear a belt with them, and I can tell these grey ones will be the same way.

These have a 28″ inseam and a 10″ leg opening. That smaller leg opening is definitely more flattering on me, and these seem longer than 28 inches, but what do I know??? They have a 8 1/2″ front rise, so it’s comfortable without being too high.

As you can see, a lot of factors go into choosing a pair of jeans, and I just realized that I actually skipped one of the biggest factors — the rear view. Pocket size and placement is crucial and shouldn’t be overlooked. I didn’t think to take shots from behind so we’ll have to save that discussion for another time.

Okay, enough about jeans!

If you have any lower priced brands you would like me to try out and compare, let me know which ones you’re interested in, and I’ll try to do a more budget-friendly denim comparison sometime soon.

Moving on.

My Trunk Club stylist sent me 2 blouses and 3 sweaters to try. This is the Joie ‘Airlan’ Tank in Cypress. It also comes in black, white, orange, blue, and khaki. This top is right up my alley. I love this color. It’s so pretty paired with black or white. It’s 100% silk and it has a really nice fit to it. The tassels are a fun detail, and it lays nicely. (It also clearly needs an iron.)

joie olive tank with black jeans

Also shown: Frame Le Color Skinnies in Film Noir and Sam Edelman Reyanne Pointy Toe Flats

Here’s a view from the side, also without the tank. I like the gentle scooped hemline. It’s more flattering than a super straight hem, but it’s not a drastic shirttail hem, which can sometimes bring more attention to my curves than I’d like.

She also sent me this Joie Jentri V Neck Silk Top, but I’m not as crazy about the fit of this one, and I don’t think the color does anything for me.

This is the Vince Double V Ribbed Wool & Cashmere Sweater. I don’t usually wear beige tones near my face, but I found myself really loving this. I can see it with black denim, white denim, and various shades of blue jeans. It would make a great canvas for a scarf with ankle boots, or you could keep it really simple with classic jewelry and pumps, and it would be elegant.

vince v-neck side

Also shown: Paige Verdugo Ankle Skinny Jeans in Tari and Sam Edelman Reyanne Pointy Toe Flats – both from the #NSale

The price tag on this sweater is way out of my budget, but I wanted to try some splurgier brands and see how they compare to the ones I normally buy, and I know that some of you do spend more on classics like this type of sweater so I thought it might be helpful.

It is absolutely gorgeous, but without seeing how it wears over time, it is hard to say if it’s worth the $$$. I can definitely tell a difference in how the cheaper cashmere sweaters wear compared to the nicer ones I’ve purchased over the years, and I am assuming this one would wear very well. It’s a wool and cashmere blend, but it says it can be hand washed, which is nice. I know a lot of you don’t like to dry clean.

As far as fit, I’m not sure this is the right size. I feel like I could probably wear a small, but then, it’s supposed to be a relaxed fit. What do you think?

The other two sweaters she sent didn’t make the cut. They were boxy, and I didn’t care for the loose weave, but they did just both go on sale, so if you think you might like them, they’re 40% off at Nordstrom!

This is the Vince Diagonal Mesh Cotton Knit Tunic Tank.

And this is the Vince Mesh Cotton Knit Pullover. I can see how it could be cute for the right activity, and probably in a size small. She sent the medium. But it definitely doesn’t get me excited.

Finally, boots!

I mentioned to my Trunk Club stylist that I love Stuart Weitzman shoes, and she sent me three pairs of his boots! I only have his wedges and pumps. I’ve never had any of his boots because the price tag is so steep, and I’ve never spent the time to scope out a good sale, but I drooled over his Lowland style all last winter. It seems like every fashion blogger I follow has a pair of these. I purchased a few knock-offs last season, trying to find one I liked, but I sent them all back because they didn’t fit well and the lower quality was very evident.

Well, Erin sent me two pairs of the Stuart Weitzman Lowland — one in grey suede, and one in black. And you guys. ** SWOON**

Here I am trying out the grey. I really wanted to love the grey. They look so elegant worn with white jeans and a pastel sweater and/or scarf in wintertime, but I don’t care for how they look with the black jeans. I feel like it really cuts off the leg at an odd spot. I guess it MIGHT work with a shorter sweater, something dark to create a better proportion… I probably need to experiment a bit more.

frame with SW grey boots

Here I am wearing the black boots over the black jeans, and these I like MUCH better. They’re still super tall, though, even for an over-the-knee boot. I know that’s the style, but my eye isn’t adjusted to it yet. I will say that these boots are amazingly comfortable, and the quality of the suede is stunning.

poncho with black boots

Also shown: Splendid Knit Poncho (fabulous drape and so soft… LOVE!!! and on the #NSale)

I also ordered the Ivanka Trump Luci, and there is no comparison. They are comfortable enough, and I actually prefer the height of the shaft of the boot, but the suede looks cheap to me, and they pucker in an unflattering way over my calves. I remember this from the pair I ordered last year, so they’re going back. They might work for someone with bigger calves. Sorry, I forgot to get a picture wearing them. I did try them on for Snapchat.

Ivanka Trump Luci

I’ll do an OTK boot comparison post soon, and then I’ll show you how these compare to the SW pair. I also have this pair of Vince Camuto grey suede OTK heeled boots from the #NSale that I love and definitely want to keep, and I can vouch for these Dolce Vita OTK boots — I have a chestnut suede pair from that brand that I got last year, and they are fabulous boots.

Finally, these are the Stuart Weitzman Grandiose Pointy Toe Ankle Boots that you saw above. These are absolutely stunning with the pointy toe and the dramatic angular heel. I love the camel color that she sent me, although I’m more drawn to hazel suede on the Nordstrom website. I have too much of that color already, though. And these would be AMAZING with my chestnut suede moto jacket… so we’ll see.

stuart weitzman ankle boots

SW ankle boots

I have some Trunk Club credits to spend so I may choose one or two of these splurge items to keep, but I want to choose wisely and make sure whatever I pick is something I will wear often and for many years.

I hope this was fun and that the denim comparison was helpful. I’d like to try more different styles next time, since most of these were ankle skinny jeans. That’s because I was wanting to add a pair of those to my wardrobe for wearing with ankle boots this fall and winter.

I’ll be back tomorrow with a cute and affordable transition outfit from QVC and a review of the new Fitbit Blaze Fitness Watch I’ve been testing out!

  1. I love it when anyone does a jeans comparison, so thank you for taking the time to do this. I really love the grey Hudsons on you..those definitely caught my eye online. I say they are the keepers 🙂 I’m really on the fence myself with the Paige from the Nsale. I love almost everything about them…but the leg opening is a little weird for me. They were boxed up ready to go, then back in my closet…jury’s still out, lol. I also ordered the AG pair for comparison, and although they initially said they’d ship yesterday, they’re now on backorder until 10/31!! Ugh.
The boots…I definitely agree with you on the grey ones, the height looks awkward. The dupes seemed more flattering on you on Snap. The black are gorg, though, as well as the booties . If you plan on keeping one, good luck with that, tough decision! 😉

    1. I know what you mean about the Verdugo. They’re perfect for ankle jeans and for tucking into taller boots, but with flats, there’s something odd about that leg opening.

  2. The Hudson skinny jeans -ripped a bit in the knee were my favorites for you! 😀

I’m getting a Trunk soon too -can’t wait!!!!!!!!!

  3. Although most of this is waaaayyy out of my budget, it was really fun to see all the items and how they fit you. Your explanation of the fit differences is really helpful! I love the gray distressed jeans and that last pair of boots is swoon-worthy! I know this post must have been terribly time-consuming (so many pics and details!)…thank you for doing it.

  4. Love the Hudson jeans!!! How do they run size-wise?
Great post, great tips, I appreciate the time you took to explain and point out things 🙂

  5. Love this post!! Nice to see the comparisons between the jeans and best of all, how those jeans looked and wore throughout the day. Also showing how similar jeans look with different shoes and heel heights is great for helping all of us look our fetching best! Looks like you have given the greatest gift of all…..a LEGITAMITE reason to buy another pair of jeans!!!! Yeah…… Can’t go around looking like trash….. You need the “perfect pair” to match each pair of shoes you own:) Re: your question about more affordable options, I find Old Navy Rock Star to be beyond compare!! I love premium denim like Paige and Joe’s and have several pairs. But like all mom’s I go to lots of grungy places where I am not going to wear $$$ jeans; most of all the hockey rink. A place every Canadian knows is very hazardous to one’s wardrobe with gum filled blechy bleachers everywhere to the countless cups of coffee needed to stay awake for all of those pre-dawn
practices! These types of times are perfect for less expensive options and Old Navy Rock Star fit the bill perfectly. They look almost as good as my most expensive options and are scads better than any other budget denim I have tried…..plus they last….I have 2 pairs which I have worn and washed countless times and they are still going strong! Last but certainly not least, my figure is far from perfect and those jeans still look good! For reference, I am 5’9″, and a size 12. For the Rock Star, I do go up a size….. Not really because they run small…… But, because a very famous Canadian stylist recommended going up a size when buying more budget friendly denim; it can make a world of difference to the finished look…. Especially ahem, if you are older!

  6. I love your in boxing and Jean comparisons today. We are the same jean size, although I am a few inches taller than you. Thanks for taking the time to do this post. It was really fun!

  7. Oh my, my! JoLynne! You are my hero! Thank you for taking the time to explain the difference between skinny jeans. So very helpful.
Those ankle boots, and otk Stuarts are to die for! I love the black otk Stuarts especially, as well as the ankle boots. Thanks for sharing!

  8. Love this post! I’m sure it takes a great deal of time to upload all the photos and write details info about each one but it’s so helpful! Love how you describe the different jeans–the sizing, length, show it w/different shoes, etc. I have wanted to invest in a pair of premium jeans but didn’t know where to start. You’ve given me ideas as to which brands to check out first. The black OTK boots look amazing! Such a fun post, thanks!

  9. Nice review, thank you! You received a lot of nice things. My favorite is the Stuart Weitzman Ankle Boots.

BTW I don’t know abut Wawa or Sheetz but nothing can compare to kwiktrip.com !!

  10. Love love love this post!! Thank you for finding a way to share your Trunk unpacking even though you couldn’t get the video to work 🙂

  11. Wow- this was a fantastic post! Thank you for all the time spent explaining both “what I like” and “why this one didn’t make the cut”. If you are doing more posts on jeans, I love the idea of some that are more budget friendly- but I am wondering if you would consider a comparison post on straight and boot cut and how to style with shoes, ankle boots?
(Also loved the Bermuda jean shorts post and how those compare to a shorter inseam)
    I appreciate your hard work!

  12. I love when you do the unboxing with us!!! It is so fun! You honestly look quite lovely in all of it… hard choices! Thanks for all of the work you put into your blog.

  13. This is really helpful actually. I think I usually have the same jean size as you and I am also 5’5″. I found it helpful that you noted all the fabric content, leg opening etc – I need to start paying attention to that info when I order jeans, to make it easier to spot the jeans that are more likely to work for me. I’ve returned a LOT of jeans from the nsale that just didn’t work on me. (One issue I run into is too big in the waist I guess? I’m not sure if that’s it exactly but I will find jeans that I think work fine – except they gape open in the back – not sure if you’ve run into that at all).

And the unboxing is fun to see 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

    1. Yes, in the Adore Your Wardrobe class I took last spring, Kelly had us create a jeans statement when we figured out the best measurements for us. Mine would be 29″ inseam, 8.5 or 9″ rise, and a 10″ leg opening. 🙂 Of course, that is hard to find, but sometimes they can be altered. The Frame jeans are the closest.

I don’t usually have the problem with pants being too big in the waist because I tend to carry my extra weight there. I have the opposite issue. Sometimes the waist is too small. But then, with the Hudson, they are too big and they slide down, so that is frustrating too. A higher rise helps some with that.

      1. Now that I look at some that didn’t work (and one that I think/hope does), I think the waist issue is more the height of the back rise, or possibly the differential between front and back rise (just to add to the difficulty of finding a good fit -LOL). I think the higher back rises are the ones that don’t fit me. But I probably need to try a few more – and pay closer attention to that to know for sure.

        1. Now I’m wondering if that is part of my issue as well. I haven’t ever paid much attention to the back rise. I know it’s generally higher than the front, but I haven’t compared different brands and styles. More homework! LOL!

  14. I’d like to see you do some boot cut jeans with different shoes. The skinny look does not flatter those of us with curvy legs.
I’d like to see some Ann Taylor, Loft, and BHWM for comparison sake.

    1. Just wanted to say that I have curvy legs with large muscular calfs and the Paige Verdugo denim makes my legs look slim and amazing! Maybe give them a try 🙂

  15. Thanks for all the reviews! I love Paige denim myself, although, I bought 2 pairs last year and had to scatter the purchases and now need to fill in with some more inexpensive pairs of jeans for times I am playing with the kiddos etc. I HATE Old Navy jeans, they just feel awful on my skin. I would love to find some inexpensive brands from Nordstroms though. From $50-100 a pop. Personally for me, a pair of $798 boots is unrelatable…my husband has a great job, but I stay at home. Even so, we make over 6 figures and I feel we could not afford a purchase like that. My clothes budget is $300 per month for my daughter and myself including shoes, bras, jeans, everything. But the boots were dreamy for sure!

    1. Honestly, they are unrelatable to me too. Even with Trunk Club credits, I can’t see owning a pair of $800 boots with my lifestyle and where I live. Maybe if I worked in the city or something… They’re still fun to try, though, and I have had a few readers tell me they have them and adore them so I wanted to see what all the hype is about. Although I did just get an invite to NY Fashion Week… so maybe I should hold onto them! HA!

Actually, the booties look more like NYFW to me, but they are still $$$.

Unfortunately the knock-off OTK boots are not flattering on the calf at all, and I don’t like the look of the suede. I haven’t seen anything in that style that is an in-between price range.

As far as jeans, I tried some of the other Nordstrom brands last fall and none impressed me, but I’ll give them another go. I hear good things about LOFT, but I feel like they’re too stiff. WHBM is getting pricey, and in my experience, their jeans stretch out and get baggy. I actually wear my premium denim everywhere, but I don’t go anywhere that is very messy. If I’m concerned, I wear an older pair. I even went hiking in my Joe’s jean shorts. LOL! (I usually wear workout pants when we hike; I’m not sure what I was thinking!)

  16. Great post! I am going to give the Hudson’s a go at it. The over the knee boots look like beautiful works of art but somehow look odd with jeans. I bet they would look great with leggings or opaque stockings with a dress/skirt. You HAVE to buy that last pair of ankle boots!! They are just gorgeous , especially in that color!!!!!!

    1. Yeah, I’m confused about the OTK boots. I saw them on soooo many fashion bloggers last year in so many different outfits – many times over jeans – and they always looked amazing. Some of them are shorter than I am too. I don’t quite get why they looked a bit off on me. Maybe my eye still needs to adjust.

I’m not keeping them b/c the price tag is just so hefty, even with TC Credits to spend, but if I were, I wouldn’t want boots I could only wear with leggings and dresses b/c I don’t wear either very often.

As far as the last pair of ankle boots…. I am still debating. I have so many ankle boots already, I am afraid I wouldn’t get enough wear out of them. But I don’t have any in that color or that are that stylish (my other super nice ones from last year are wedges) so… maybe they’re worth having – especially if I go to any winter fashion blogging events. I’m considering NYFW, and if I go, I will want something more dramatic like these. They are different but still wearable, and not everybody has a pair, ya know?

The other thing I really like is how they are the same height all around. It seems like all of my other boots have that lip in front that stands up higher than the back, and I think these are cleaner and easier to style.

      1. Reading between the lines, I see I new pair of ankle boots being delivered to your house! Ha! Remember you can always resell your older ones. After seeing others comments I might also try out the AG jeans too. BTW, on your recommendation I purchase DL 1961 Emma…love love them. At a great price of 79$!! Have you ever tried True Religion? I see them posted all over Pinterest but don’t know anyone who has tried a pair. I have a couple of different styles from Lucky that I have been happy with. I can usually find them at TJMax for 40-60$.

  17. I am LOVING the VInce Diagonal Mesh Cotton tunic tank. Just not sure if I can fit that in the budget. That might be the perfect top for BYI, especially because the weather might be warm yet.

Can’t say enough about the AG skinny jeans. Definitely WAY out of my budget, but I love the look. The hardest part for me is my shortness. I can almost wear skinny capri jeans and have them be the right size for full length jeans.

And those wedges? Don’t get me started. If you find them missing one day, I have nothing to do with it.(Really, I don’t because I don’t know where you live 😀 )

  18. Almost forgot to ask what size you got on the poncho, since it comes in 2 sizes XS/S or M/L – I’m considering it (even though I loathe either hand wash or dry clean items). Thanks!

      1. thank you! All your sizing recommendations are very helpful. Even though Nordstrom does have free shipping & returns, it does get old having to double order everything and return things all the time. I’m sure you can appreciate that ;).

  19. I haven’t even read your post yet but the email cracked me up! I moved out of my beloved home state of NJ years ago (south Jersey) with no regrets but the mere mention of Wawa and the word “hoagie” made me a tad bit home sick. Too funny! Here in my adopted home of southern IN we have Huck’s or Casey’s and subs. You’re right, Wawa rules! Haha.

  20. I love your posts you nailed it in speaking about jeans and ankle boots I have 2 AG jeans that have been my go to for the past 2 years. I hope they make the cut you will enjoy them. I love the gray jeans I’m thinking about adding them to me my wardrobe. In my opinion you rock the Jean world for real women I always find your posts so helpful thanks for your help

    1. Thanks, Marla! That is nice to hear. Sometimes I feel like I way over share. Ha! The AG made the cut. I’ve worn them the past 2 days, lol. I just cuffed them so the hem doesn’t look awkward with flat sandals. They’re definitely going to be my go-to with ankle boots this fall. I think you’d love the grey jeans, if you like AG. The main thing is, the AG is always snug in the “waist” – wherever that is placed, lol, and the Hudsons are soooo stretchy in that area. I don’t think I could size down b/c they are tight in the thighs and hips, but they do seem to have a lot of extra in the waist and back – maybe for girls with more booty than I have? 🙂

  21. You look amazing in the pancho and the over the knee super-high black boots. Can you comment on the sizing of the Joe’s jeans? How do they run? Do they tend to stretch? Is a belt needed?

    1. Thank you! The Joe’s run TTS as far as I can tell. In my experience, my Joes in the past have stretched out a bit. I didn’t wear these long enough to tell how they will wear. I definitely didn’t need a belt.

  22. I loved the jean comparison!!!!!! Very well done! I am a sucker for designer jeans!! I love the dl1961 I’m gonna try the ag jeans and a few more brands. You make it very helpful!!
