Try-On Haul: Amazon, Athleta, Birkenstocks, Everlane, LOFT & More

Happy Friday, friends! It’s cold, but sunny here today, and I’m feeling optimistic after the Coronavirus Briefing last night. I know it will be quite a while before restrictions are lifted here in PA, but it’s nice just to talk about it, and I’m happy for those of you who may be returning to some semblance of normal sooner rather than later.

ANYWHO! It’s time for another try-on haul, and today I have a bunch of shoes and slippers, and yes, some activewear. The Athleta order that I placed several weeks ago just came in, so I’m sharing those today. I put that section at the very end, so if you’re over it, you can just stop reading when you get to that section.

Okay, let’s get started.

Spring 2020 Try-On Haul: Amazon, Athleta, Birkenstocks, Everlane, LOFT & More

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and 135 pounds-ish, with a slight hourglass shape. I’m wearing a 6/28 in pants/jeans, a small in tops, a 6 in dresses/jumpsuits, and size 8 shoe unless otherwise noted.

Try-Ons: Dresses

Everlane The Long Weekend Tee Dress (size S) // This one’s for those of you want to be comfortable but not schlumpy while at home or running errands on the weekends, once we start getting out and about again. I can’t help but think of a Saturday farmer’s market when I look at this outfit.

This dress is a nice, thick cotton fabric, and it has a column shape with one side slit. I’m not typically a fan of the shift dress, as I prefer more structure, but this one is cute in a relaxed way. I also appreciate how the arm holes are cut nice and high, so they don’t expose my bra when I move around.

All in all, this would be more flattering on someone smaller on top, but it will be a nice alternative to shorts and a t-shirt when I’m getting together with friends or running errands this summer.

It runs TTS; the small fits me perfectly. For $40, you really can’t beat it!

VERDICT: Keeping!

Ann Taylor Stitched Split Neck Sheath Dress (size 6) // Ann Taylor sent me this dress, and it’s still in their Preview section, so not included in their current promo, but it’s one to keep your eye on if you have some events coming up this summer.

I think this Parrot Green is so pretty and unexpected. It actually leans sort of preppy. It’s sleeveless with a split neck and inset waistband. I really like the trapunto stitching details, and how the sleeves are cut around the arms — no gaping or bra showing. Very sleek and classy!

also wearing: Stuart Weitzman NearlyNude sandals (my favorite strappy heels for spring and summer; on sale at Zappo’s!)

Try-Ons: Slippers & Sandals

Everlane The Day Crossover Sandal (size 8.5) // These sandals are the perfect marriage of comfort and minimalistic style. The footbed is flexible, and the straps are the softest leather, plus they’re double folded for added comfort. I also like the modern tapered square toe.

I do wish I’d requested these in a different color — I’m not sure why I chose cream. I think I’d prefer the caramel or light taupe, and the burnt sienna is really pretty too.

Anyway, if you like the styling, I think you will be very happy with the quality, fit, and feel. They do run small; I’m wearing the 8.5, and I need every bit of that.

Vince Hazen Flat Leather Sandals (more colors at Zappo’s; size 8) // I’m always a sucker for Vince shoes, and I was instantly drawn to this strappy flat sandal with a bit of a retro vibe.

They have a leather upper and a leather sole, and I love the cork look to the footbed. These are super comfortable right out o the box — the straps don’t have any rough spots, and I don’t anticipate any issue with blisters or breaking in. They’re just stretchy enough to move with you when you walk, but not so much that they get loose.

I would say these sandals are more suited to narrow feet. They run TTS; the 8 fits me perfectly.

I’ve also got the black on order, as I wasn’t sure which color I wanted… I will decide once they come in, but I’m thinking the brown will be more versatile for spring and summer.

I can actually see these replacing my Millers as my summer go-to. They look equally good with shorts, jeans, and dresses.

Oh, and they’re on sale too! The best deal is at Saks, where they’re already 30% off, plus an additional 15% off with code FORYOU. If you don’t have Shoprunner, use code FREESHIP for free shipping.

If they don’t have your preferred size and color combo at Saks, they’re also 30% off at Zappo’s, and you can get 25% off at Vince.com for signing up for their emails.

VERDICT: Keeping! (Just not sure if I’m keeping brown or black.)

UGG Cosette Genuine Shearling Slipper (size 8) // When I did my slipper roundup, I ordered a few to try, and they’re finally coming in.

These UGGs are every bit as soft and cozy as you would expect an UGG slipper to be, but the footbed is thick and not flexible at all. They’re really cute, though, and my experience with UGG slippers is that they break in and end up being very comfortable, even the ones with the thicker soles.

I got these on sale at Nordstrom, and I also found them at Zappo’s and Amazon. This color is the Soft Amethyst, which is mostly sold out, but the Oyster color is nice too and a little more neutral.

VERDICT: Returning… but only because I found another pair I liked better.

I also tried the Vionic Gracie, but they run wide and didn’t fit my foot very well. I guess I forgot to take pictures.

I’ll be doing a pajama roundup tomorrow, and also sharing my new Acorn Spa Thongs — the slippers I ended up keeping.

also wearing: Rag & Bone Cate skinnies with BR scoop neck tee and Daily Ritual cardigan

Birkenstock Madrid Big Buckle in Brandy Nubuck (also at Nordstrom; size 38) // Okay, so I went a little crazy ordering Birkenstocks last week. I was never a fan of the originals, but lately they’ve come out with some really cute new styles. I have finicky feet, so I’ve always thought these should be a nice option for me, but they never seem to work out.

Still, I’m persistent, so I ordered a couple pairs from their new Big Buckle collection. I really like how these look on the foot, and even though this color is warmer than I typically go for, I kind of like it. It’s a neutral that will go with everything.

As far as comfort goes, you can adjust the buckle, and they do stay on my foot when I walk, but a few of my longer toes hit the end of the shoe, and because of the molded footbed, they sort of rub on the edge, so I really need the size 39. Fortunately, I ordered those too!

These are all the narrow sizes, by the way. They’re recommended for both narrow and medium-width feet.

Birkenstock Madrid Big Buckle in Old Rose Nubuck (also at Nordstrom; size 39) // I like this color even better, although the rose gold buckles are a little garish. I prefer the yellow gold on the Brandy Nubuck. Still, it looks great against my skin tone, and with my nail polish, ha!

These are the right size, but my feet do kind of float around in them a bit. While they stay on my foot, I’m afraid I’ll find myself tripping on the carpet, or walking out of them if I try to wear them out of the house.

As cute as they are, they’re probably not for me. The Vince pair is far more flattering and better suited to my flat feet.

VERDICT: Returning… probably. I do really like them for something different.

FYI, these Birks were all on sale last week when I ordered them, so I don’t recommend paying full price.

Birkenstock Yao in Mineral Nubuck (size 38) // Knowing how Birks tend to swallow my flat, narrow feet, I thought I might prefer this strappier style, but I actually think the Madrid is more flattering.

Still, these are kind of fun, and this mineral color is really pretty. It’s almost a sage green. These also stay on my foot a lot better because there’s more strap to cover the top of the foot, and they anchor in two places rather than one.

Again, the 38 is just a tad too short on me, but the 39 is a little roomy.

This is going to sound silly, but if you have shorter toes, I would recommend sizing down. My younger daughter, who has a very different foot shape than I do, but wears the same size, fits in these just fine because she has shorter toes.

I, on the other hand, need the 39…

Birkenstock Yao in Copper Birko-Flor (also at Nordstrom; size 39) // This pair has a different material for the straps and footbed. They’re softer and more lightweight than the others, and I can definitely see how they would require less breaking in.

(The traditional Birk footbed does require some breaking in, and then it’s supposed to be the most comofrtable shoe ev-er, but I’ve never gotten that far with a pair of them.)

I like the rose gold a lot, but I’m not such a fan of the white bottom.

VERDICT: Undecided…  probably returning. I think I’m trying too hard to like them.

Vince Sarria Wedge Sandal (size 7.5) // I ordered these on a whim after one of you all mentioned them, and I saw they were 40% off. Now THIS is my kind of comfort sandal. It’s by Vince, of course.

What can I say? When you find a brand that works for you, it’s hard not to love all of them.

These definitely have a more refined style than the Birks, and they do not require any breaking in. They have a soft leather upper and lining, so they feel SO good on the foot. The quality is evident the second you pick them up, and I love the juxtaposition of the luxe leather sandal on the sporty striped wedge.

I was conflicted on color, but I went for the snake because I’m nothing if not predictable; but when they came in, I realized they are the exact same snake print as my Vince slip-on sneakers. #duh

Anyway, I do like these a lot, but I don’t want another pair of shoes in the exact same snake print, so I think they’re going back.

The tan is a great color, but I don’t see myself gravitating to those, so I think I’m going to pass on these altogether, but if you’re looking for a luxe comfort sandal at a great value (they’re 40% off), I HIGHLY recommend giving these a try.

They’re especially good for those of us with flat or narrow feet. Size down; I always do in Vince. The 7.5 is a perfect fit.

VERDICT: Sadly, returning, although I’m going to keep an eye on this Flax color. If it goes on sale, I may grab it.

Try-Ons: Tops & Cardigans

Daily Ritual Women’s Supersoft Terry Open Sweatshirt (size S) // This is the non-hooded version of the popular pink cardigan I wore a ton last spring.

These cardigans are made of a lightweight sweatshirt material, and they’re extremely soft and comfortable and have a really nice drape. They wash up really well too.

It has a fold over collar and lapel, and I like how the arms are fitted — one of my tips for choosing cardigans that aren’t frumpy. It also has pockets, and it’s overall very comfy and cozy… perfect for a chilly spring like we’re having this year.

I also use these cardigans throughout the summertime to throw on over my pajamas in the mornings, or with shorts on cooler evenings hanging out outside.

The price point is fantastic; it varies based on size and color, but the most you’ll pay is $30.50. For reference, I have the navy in a size small.

VERDICT: Keeping!

LOFT Shirttail Open Cardigan (size S) // I’ve shared this one before, but I wanted to remind you of it b/c right now, LOFT is doing 70% off one item, and free shipping over $25, AND free returns!

This cardigan is lightweight and so pretty, with the shirttail hem and ribbed texture. It comes in tons of colors — the lighter ones are my favorites.

VERDICT: Keeping!

also wearing: Chelsea28 tank with AG Farrah skinnies (40% off) and Everlane mules

BlankNYC Faux Suede Drape Front Jacket (size M) // I love this jacket; I’ve had it before in other colors, but I recently picked up this Chateau Grey because it’s such a nice, light neutral for spring, AND it’s 60% off!!! It also comes in dusty rose and a really nice taupe.

I showed it styled both with a plain ivory tank as well as with a floral blouse, to show you how versatile it is. Of course, you can also just throw it on over a t-shirt.

It’s a suuuuper poly/spandex blend that resembles suede, and it’s very comfortable against the skin. I recommend sizing up; i wear a M in all BlankNYC jackets.

VERDICT: Keeping!

also wearing: Chelsea28 tank with AG Farrah skinnies (now 40% off!!!) and Vince Camuto snake print wedges

Sanctuary Tiffany Top (size S) // I think this is such a pretty floral top for spring and summer — it’s nice with jeans, or you can dress it up with white or blush pants.

The v-neck is modest enough, and the flutter sleeves are pretty — not too froo-froo for my classic taste. My only issue is that it’s cut a little far in around the arms — it doesn’t show my bra, but it shows that flabby skin we all tend to get in that area. #keepingitreal

It’s a little longer than my ideal, but I still like it better untucked. Because it has a button-down front, the front tuck sticks out a bit weird with a front-tuck, unless it’s layered under a jacket (see above).

VERDICT: Keeping!

also wearing: AG Farrah skinnies (now 40% off!!!) and Tory Burch flats

LOFT Scoop Neck Outfit-Making Tank (size S) // I ordered these AGES ago, and they finally came in! I actually ordered it in 4 colors, because I’m ALWAYS looking for tanks to wear under cardigans. We discussed this a few weeks ago, when I tried the Caslon tanks, which I returned. They were too long and too tight.

This one, however, is perfect. It’s a better length (for me, anyway; I know some of you prefer longer) and it’s not super skin-tight. It’s nice and thick too, and I like how it’s higher in the back, rather than a double scoop neck as many tanks are.

VERDICT: Keeping!

also wearing: Goodthreads longline cardigan (TTS) with Agolde Toni straight crop jeans (TTS) and Elieen Fisher espadrilles (size up half; 40% off!)

Try-Ons: Athleta

When I placed my Athleta order, these were all 30% off, so take that into consideration. I’m not sure I would have kept it all had it been full price. Right now, they do have select items marked 25% off, so take a look if you’re in need of something!

Athleta Farallon Shorts (size 6) // These are nice for those looking for casual non-denim shorts. I feel like they’re fairly flattering, and they’re definitely comfortable.

They’re a nice length, and the material has some weight to it so it doesn’t seem like it would bag out in the rear, as some knit shorts do. They also come in taupe, black, and olive green.

VERDICT: Returning… I just don’t think I’d wear them much, but I do recommend them for those looking for something like this. I will probably regret not keeping them when we’re hiking in Maine this summer…

also wearing: Zella tee (old)

Athleta Farallon Jogger (size 6) // I had high hopes for these, but I’m not loving them. They do nothing for my rear view, for one thing, and I think they would look better if they were a couple inches shorter.

They’re made of the same weightier fabric as the shorts, and they do have nice seaming details on the side, but they’re not as soft and comfy as I was hoping. They also just don’t have that “cool factor” that I’m going for when I’m choosing joggers. They remind me too much of my high school gym teacher… not that there’s anything wrong with being a high school gym teacher!!! (No hate mail, please… it’s just not the look I’m going for.)

VERDICT: Returning.

Sundown Hoodie Sweatshirt (size S) // Now, this sweatshirt, I love. It’s made of a thin, soft fabric that feels really nice against the skin.

It runs a tad small, I’d say. I could maybe size up to a medium, but it fits well in the arms and shoulders, so I think it’s just supposed to be a little bit cropped and fitted through the mid-section.

I also really like this opal green for something different, but it also comes in a pretty pale pink, a bold blue, and a dark grey they call black. (But it looks grey to me!) And bonus, it’s 25% off at checkout!

VERDICT: Keeping!

Athleta Ultimate Stash Pocket Capri (size M) // These leggings are perfect — nice details, great fit and feel, with a super high, flat waistband. They come in grey heather (shown here) as well as navy and black.

I ordered the grey because all of my leggings are black, and also because they don’t have contrasting seams like so many grey leggings do.

I love these, but I do wish I’d sized down to a small. I’ve always worn medium in Athleta leggings, so that’s what I ordered, but they do sag a bit, and I think it’s because they’re too big. Oh, well. I yanked off the tags and wore them for a walk before I realized it, so they’re mine now.

VERDICT: Keeping!

Athleta Cloudlight Stratus Tee (size S) // I love, love, love this top! It’s thin and soft and lightweight and drapey, and while I’m not usually a fan of the curved hemline, I like how this one falls.

I feel like it’s cut in a flattering way, and I love that it covers both the front and the back without looking schlumpy.

I also like the scoop neck, the cap sleeves, and the seaming detail up the back; and I think the violet color is so pretty.

VERDICT: Keeping!

Athleta Essence Twist Tank (size S) // This is a cute top — very different for me with the twist-waist in front and scoop neck in the back. It’s a little shorter than I like, though. I’d probably like it better in a medium, but I have enough workout tops, so I decided to just return it.

VERDICT: Returning.

Athleta Pranayama Wrap (size S) // This is such a nice piece — super lightweight and soft and drapey. The second I put it on, I knew it was a keeper. It’s the kind of thing I like to throw on in the mornings over my pajamas, or wear with shorts in the evenings, and the white is so nice for summer.

It’s much better quality than the Daily Ritual one (above) — you can just feel it. That said, they’re both nice, and with this one being full price now, I’d recommend going with the Daily Ritual, if you’re trying to pick between the two.

VERDICT: Keeping!

  1. WAIT!! You can still return them! When I first discovered Athleta, I bought mediums and wore them for a couple months before mentioning to someone that they sagged a bit. They said to call the store. I did and they exchanged 2 pairs for small. No questions asked, no receipt.

  2. I don’t know if my last message posted but I can’t see it so I am saying it again because it’s important! I bought mediums when I first discovered Athleta and I mentioned to someone a couple months later that mine sagged. They told me to call the store. They exchanged for smalls with no questions asked! No receipt or tags. Their customer service is amazing.

    1. Thanks for the info. I do hate to return stuff I already wore, but I never even considered ordering a Small and I just assumed they fit until I realized they were sagging in that, ahem, area. I may send them back and see if they’ll send me the Small.

  3. I’m classy like you, too.  I love chips with wine, especially tortilla chips with salsa.  I love your posts. 🍷

  4. As an Athleta junkie, I encourage you to get the smaller size in the Capri legging! Athleta has the most generous return policy (think Nordstrom) and they don’t care if it’s tagged, worn or washed ten times. They’re that good. I will share the Farallon DOES bag. For sure! I have a few of the same shorts you featured here and they grow as worn. I no longer wear them and have put them in my consign closet.
I used to make fun of Birkenstock, pretty severely! Ha! Then I tried them. Got fitted at a local specialty retailer with the soft footbed and now am looking for my third pair! I really like the big buckle one you tried! I’m going to take a look! So all that to encourage you to keep looking for just the right one. I’m guessing they exist for you. Enjoy a LOVELY weekend!

    1. I forgot to also share on Birkenstock, I went to a narrow, which is still pretty generous. It’s actually recommended for a narrow or medium width foot. It helped my foot to feel more secure in the footbed.

  5. Good morning,Jo-Lynne! I always look forward to your posts. I think the Parrot Green Ann Taylor dress is great & looks awesome on you!  I realize that the Everlane long weekend dress is a different type of dress, but I can’t get onboard for that one. I don’t find it flattering at all because of the length (especially with flat sandals) and how baggy it looks, especially from the side. I do like the white joggers on you, but get that they aren’t quite your style.  I always appreciate the variety of options and explanations you provide, & like to see comments from others, too. It is interesting to see the different opinions. Best to you and your family–hope you all stay safe & healthy!

    1. I hear ya on the blue dress, Jan. It’s definitely not as flattering on me as the sheath style. And yeah, the white joggers didn’t quite do what I wanted them to do, haha! That’s ok tho. I have enough joggers!

  6. I do love a try-on haul! I have a couple of Athleta pieces and they last and look great forever. I don’t know why I didn’t buy anything during the sale. For anyone who isn’t a Birkenstock fan, try Mephisto. Still spendy, but I find they fit my feet better and don’t look quite so snowshoe like.I wear a 10 so that’s probably part of the issue! I have several pairs of Mephesto that look much like Birkenstocks. They are particularly nice if you’ve had issues with plantar fasciitis.

    Happy Friday!!

    1. Thanks for the tip on Mephisto. Also, I added the Vince wedges to this post after you commented. I ordered them after you recommended them. They’re very cute and super luxe!

  7. I love the green Ann Taylor dress on you! Such a beautiful color and it is so flattering. Re: Athleta, I’ve had my Athleta clothing for years and it all holds up so well. Don’t settle for a pair of ill-fitting leggings. Athleta has a very generous return policy.

  8. I love the green dress on you, I’m glad you’re keeping it! I actually don’t like the  Everlane dress on you. It looks too big like it just hangs on you and doesn’t flatter your cute figure but  It does look comfortable! I’ve never tried Birks and I’m still not convinced to try them after your try-on. I know lots of people love their Birkenstocks!
I agree that it’s nice to get a glimmer of better days ahead!

  9. I loved the try on outfits today… And the Daily Ritual Sweater in that blue is beautiful…I think Im going to order that….Jo Lynne thank you for all the hard work…I love your try on sessions…I was wondering if you could give me some suggestions about where I can find 7 inch shorts…I really don’t like my shorts any less than 7 inches.and seems like the ones that are longer just aren’t very stylish either…I love blue jeans shorts but sometimes I just like the casual ones I can walk in or work in the flower s outside in… I love those Vince sandals also, but I want to be able to try them on…I have such a hard time with shoes now and Have learned from the past to NOT order online because usually it just doesn’t work for me…. Have a wonderful day, and I m feeling a little more optimistic about our country being able to open up soon also… Bev Brown.

    1. I will see what I can find. I do think, generally speaking, 7″ shorts are never going to be super stylish, but they’re classic and they serve a purpose. Ya know? The best you can do is find a pair that’s flattering. My best tip is to make sure they aren’t too wide. If they fit closer to the leg (without being too tight) they will be more flattering.

      1. Jo Lynne ,  Thank you so much.   I found a couple I want to try.   Cute styles.   Now bring on the warm summer weather.

    2. I think longer shorts can look very classy.  They might not be “trendy” but to me, shorter shorts are more casual.  I’m 5’9” and pear shaped with heavier thighs.  Anything shorter than 7” looks horrible on me.  Madewell currently has some denim ones.  I got last years version and love them.  They’re also on a black.  https://www.madewell.com/high-rise-mid-length-denim-shorts-in-gosford-wash-AJ255.html

  10. Great try on haul… how long do you wait until you open your packages? And do you wash your items before trying them on? I agree with Jan  about the first dress I just can’t get on board with that one either… maybe it’s the shoe 🤔.. anyway great pieces . I didn’t know that Athleta was part of the Old Navy, Gap and Banana Republic family.. I guess I must be living under a rock. I’m curious to try their stuff now but will have to wait for a sale.. have a nice weekend.. We could get snow tomorrow.. can’t be🤦‍♀️

    1. I don’t wait anymore. I did at first. Now I just bring them in, open them, put them away, and wash my hands. I’ve read quite a few articles about it, and it sounds like it’s possible to contract the virus that way, but not very likely. I receive too many boxes to be high maintenance about it.

  11. You got some cute stuff and I’m laughing at your Birkenstock attempt as my daughter has been wearing them for years and has tried to get me to buy some but every time I’ve tried them, I didn’t like them and was never feeling the enthusiasm she did. Lol. But I am ordering one of the Amazon long cardigans. They look cute and love the variety of colors.

  12. I’ve tried Birks once and pretty much felt the same. If your feet are narrow, it’s really hard to get a good fit. I like the look of that Daily Ritual “cardigan”, and over jammies is exactly what I was thinking. Have a great weekend! XO

  13. Thanks for another great post! I have to agree with the comments about the shift dress…I think it’s hiding your beautiful shape and is too long…yes maybe it’s the shoes as mentioned. I just think you can do better! 😊
Are you wearing your usual size in the Loft tanks? Those look useful, and who doesn’t love this sale?!
    Hang in there everyone!

  14. That green dress looks like it was made for you! Fits perfectly! Like others have said, I’m not crazy about the blue shift dress. Since you showed the pix first and then the description, I was surprised when I read that you were keeping it. You’ve done such a good job of telling us what works/doesn’t work for you (and by extension for us), that I giggled at how surprised I was that my opinion didn’t match up with your opinion. Great job teaching us all!

  15. Hi Jo-Lynne!
I guess I’m the odd man out… I like the blue dress!! I think it’s perfect when you want to feel comfortable but want something different to wear. For me, I would wear it with wedges. Love the green dress also… my favorite shade of green. And loved the Vince snake print wedges! Love your blog!

    1. Thanks, Stacy. We are definitely in the minority on the blue dress. Haha! I agree, a wedge would be nice with it. The strappier Vince sandals actually looked good with it. I tried them on with it for my IG Story.

  16. Great post today Jo-Lynne! I like both those dresses. I can see the blue tee shirt dress with a cute belt on. Maybe a red one or cheetah print. I need new Nike tennis shoes.
My black ones are getting wore out. Love the gold logo on the ones in your post. Did not see where you bought them. Please let me know. Thanks.
Looking forward to seeing some joggers you like because I’m also looking for a pair with some personality.

  17. Oh MYYY! LOL. I did not read the other ladies comments until after I sent my comments.
I totally agree with all the blue dress comments as being negative. That’s why when I saw you were keeping it I suggested wearing a belt which would accentuate your waist.
Could we all be wrong? I’m just saying…..Ha ha ha ha. What does Paul think?

    1. LOL. I totally get all the comments about the blue dress. I know it’s not as flattering as a sheath… but sometimes you just don’t want to wear a sheath, ya know?

That’s why I hardly ever wear dresses, I guess! 🙂 The ones that look best on me are more structured and formal.

I can’t belt things, I’m too short waisted. But that would be cute on some ladies.

  18. I am so happy that you are keeping the pretty dress from Loft because you look so very nice in it!  That style definitely suits you to a tee!  Your comments about the Birkenstock’s are spot on for me.  I have several pair of sandals from Target, made like my Birkenstock’s and the ones from Target stay on my feet better and are much more comfortable, for not even 1/3 of the price.  Yes, we watched the update last night as well. It is cautiously encouraging.  Of course, all of us will have to make the decisions that are best for our family because not everyone is going to do as they should.  It saddens me that we will have to continue staying away from our neighbors since they don’t practice social distancing, but that’s just what we have to do.  Enjoy your Friday evening!

    1. That’s hard when friends don’t share your commitment to the social distancing. Ours have all been on the same page pretty much, but we don’t know our neighbors here like we did in our old ‘hood. We’ve taken to doing a Zoom happy hour about once a week. In fact, I’ll bet getting on to chat with them in about an hour!

  19. It’s the length of the blue dress with those flat sandals that doesn’t work. You are right they are like grandpa slippers. Just add a wedge sandal and  I think the dress would work much better. In fact, since you got so much feedback on this dress, could you try it with a neutral wedge and post it for us? Remember, If you like it that’s all that counts.

  20. Jolynne, Thank you for bringing some happiness to this crazy time. I love to read your posts and dream of days when I can shop and wear cute clothes again. I have always wanted to love Birkenstocks but I just can not. My friends all wear them and love them. I love them when others wear them, but I just do not like them on my feet (small and narrow) – too big and chunky! Great Athleta advice, too.

  21. I have say I was very surprised with your verdict on the long T-shirt dress. Frumpy all the way, starting with the length.  I think you can can so much better.

  22. I love the big buckle Birkenstock style but I have longer toes too. Ugh! I wish they would make a more round toe area to help us longer toe girls out. For this reason, I’ve never been able to wear them either.
