Try-On Haul + Evereve Sale Finds

Greetings, friends, it’s the first day of August, if you can believe it!

I’ve got a short try-on haul for you today, plus I rounded up some things I’ve worn lately that are on sale, and some Evereve Clearance sale picks.

First, I ordered a few summer pieces that I’ll show you.

Summer Try-On Haul

Madewell High-Rise Denim Shorts in Kerns Wash

I ordered these shorts because I realized I don’t have any grey or black denim shorts. I love my grey and black jeans, so I know I’ll enjoy having that option for shorts as well.

Plus, I thought they would look great with my new P448 sneaks, and they do!

These shorts were on sale when I got them, but unfortunately, not now.

I really like this off-black wash and the cuffed hem. The rise is higher than I prefer, at 12″, but it’s not a deal breaker.

The deal breaker is the rear view. The fit and pocket placement are okay, but they are a leeeetle short on me…

I think I’m getting too old for the 3″ inseam. (It says 4″ online but I think that is the un-cuffed measurement.)

I love how the off-black wash looks with this pink tie dye top.

(Pardon the laundry in the background… my daughter likes to use the banister as a drying rack.)

I also think these shorts look really good with this camo tee. FYI, these shorts run small. I’m wearing the 29.

VERDICT: Returning. I do really like them, but I think I’ll keep looking for a pair that gives me another inch or so in length, and preferably something closer to a 10″ rise.

Cordani Randie Platform Wedge Slingback Sandals

I ordered these sandals after seeing another blogger rave about them. They’re supposed to be very comfortable and supportive, and I thought the colors were so nice and versatile.

I’m getting tired of wearing flats all the time, and I thought maybe these would be comfortable enough for casual wear.

I was thrilled by how soft and supple the leather is. They feel wonderful against the foot. They also have a leather lined, padded footbed.

The back strap is adjustable, but unfortunately they are still a little big on my foot. I think they would fit someone with thicker or wider feet better.

Here’s how they look styled. I put them with these white crop straight jeans and navy striped dolman top.

These are GORGEOUS shoes. Such good quality, and on sale too!

They run true to size, but they are a little roomy on my feet so I recommend them to those with wider feet.

VERDICT: Returning, but I do recommend them. They’re just not great for me.

Good American Good Curve High Waist Denim Shorts

I don’t know why I ordered these shorts. I mean, I do. I kept seeing another blogger I follow talk about them, and they look so cute on her 32-year-old self. But on me, they feel a little try-hard.

See? Even bloggers fall into this trap!

I’m just showing you all the views with little commentary because I think the pictures speak for themselves.

I will say, the denim is very soft and comfortable. If you like them, I recommend sizing up. I’m in the 29, and they’re a little roomy, but I think they’re supposed to be.

VERDICT: Returning. They’re just not for me at this point in my life. But they’re comfortable and good quality. If you like them, they’re worth a try!

Frame Le Scoop T-Shirt

I ordered this tee when it was on sale, but it’s not now.

Frame makes such a nice quality tee. I know the price seems crazy for a t-shirt, but the material is gorgeous. It’s really a nice elevated tee to have in your closet, and it layers nicely too.

I really like the shape of the scoop neck and the sleeves.

FYI, I’m in the medium, and it’s none too big. I definitely recommend sizing up one from your normal.

VERDICT: Keeping. It’s hard to find a nice quality tee that fits this perfectly, and I did manage to snag this one at 40% off. I’ll let you know if I see it on sale again.

Daily Ritual Women’s Jersey Muscle Swing Dress

I’ve shared this dress already, but I wanted to show you more angles for those who asked about the armholes.

As you can see here, the armholes are cut a little big, but it doesn’t gape or show my bra.

Here’s a back view. I like how it has the swing dress style, but there’s still good shaping through the waist.

Such a cute, carefree dress. The material is smooth and soft, and while it’s thin, it’s not see-through. It runs true to size, and it’s a great price.

VERDICT: Keeping! I’ve already worn it twice.

Okay, that’s it for try-ons, but I do have a few things that I noticed just went on sale.

Weekend Sale Picks

R’s Madewell swing dress wasn’t a great fit for me, but it’s adorable on her. It’s marked down to $39.99 and then 30% off with code WHATADEAL.

For comparison, here is how it looked on me. A little too short, tight in the chest, and not as much shape through the waist as the Daily Ritual one.

It’s such a pretty color, but the fit was just a bit off. I like it a lot better on R.

My Everlane loafers and loafer mules are on sale. Sizes are going fast, and I hope this doesn’t mean they’re being discontinued, but they may be.

I have the mules in both caramel and cream.

These are such a nice, soft leather, and they feel really nice on the foot. I recommend sizing up at least a half size; I have the 8.5.

I have the loafers in cashew, but I like the caramel better. I think I’d wear them more in a different color.

They also run small; I have the 8.5 in these too.

The floral Sanctuary blouse that I like so much is finally on sale! I love to pair this with white jeans for church and date nights.

It runs TTS; I have the small.

And the Chelsea28 raw edge tank I’ve worn so much lately is also on sale now.

I also have the ivory; it makes a really nice layering piece. This tank runs TTS; I have the small.

Sizes are getting depleted on this one, but if you don’t mind spaghetti straps, this one is a good alternative.

The Kut from the Kloth Lauren jeans in the darker wash are 40% off. These are TTS, or size down if in between.

Incidentally, this is the Chelsea28 tank in a deep red. Yes, I have it in 3 colors. It is that good!

And then the Kut from the Kloth Catherine boyfriend shorts are on sale for $39 at Evereve.

Also, this stripe sweater finally went on sale! It’s very lightweight, and yes, a little bit see-through — the perfect beachy summer sweater to pair with shorts on mild evenings at home or, well, the beach!

And those toe ring sandals are on sale too!

Evereve Sale Picks

Evereve is having a big clearance sale, with free shipping on orders of $50+. The markdowns are insane, and they’re pretty well stocked!

I love this tie dye wrap. It could carry you right into fall.

How cute is this white eyelet ballet top?

These wedge sneakers are really cute and such an amazing price.

I’m tempted to try this jumpsuit. I like the jogger style.

This halter top is adorable. I hate strapless bras, but I might make the exception for this top.

Okay, last thing, but there’s so much good in here, so be sure to take a look through if you’re shopping this weekend.

Y’all know how I love python print. I think I need this tee.

Okay, that’s a wrap. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  1. As someone with (quite) a few years on you I didn’t think you could be “too old” for anything until I saw those Good American shorts on you. Yup, you’re too old for those. The Madewell’s look great, though. I think you can still rock the 3″ inseam and I’m proud of you for keeping it classy. Great post!

    1. Agree! The first pair looks great. The second just didn’t fit as well. “It’s not you, it’s them!” LOL. you look adorable too. Always!

  2. Go with what you’re comfortable with, but with your legs you can wear anything!
Lots of options here, thanks for detailing them for us

  3. Jo-Lynne,
Since I’ve been WFH (working from home) I’ve worn slippers or flats. My feet are thanking me too – so much more comfortable. Flats can feel ‘too flat’ i.e., i’m most comfortable in a lower heel. I have wide feet (C or W width). What are some booties or lower heels that don’t look matronly? I still want a professional but slightly rocker vibe to wear with premium denim. (“Someday” when I go back to the office I think I’ll be dressing differently! this may have revolutionized workwear.)

  4. I’d love for you to order and style the jogger style jumpsuit. It is really cute. Does their stuff run true to size? I would have no idea what size to order…. XS or SM. I’m 5’3” and like 120 lbs. I enjoyed your post this AM. Always nice to hear why items don’t work. Summer is going wayyyy too fast but I always look forward to Fall fashion. It’s my favorite season for everything. I love good jeans, cardigan and booties for sure. Oh and add a scarf. I Love scarves and hope they are still in.

  5. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the python T-shirt– a great tee for fall. I noticed, however, that it has a scooped hem. Sigh. Every shirt I’ve donated in the last 6 months has had that hem. If it’s slight, I find I can just front-tuck, but some of those look like bibs in the front and back. As my daughter says “First World Problems”. lol.

  6. Loved this post.

Loved the match between the P448 sneakers and the denim shorts. You may also add a cute dainty ankle bracelet. My daughter is currently obsessed with cute white fashion trainers and maxi dressers. Also agree with the sockless rule, definitely adds that chic and younger look.

    Keep it up.

    Kim

  7. I have been debating on the Daily Ritual swing dress, but unsure of size-I’m between a small and medium…..what size is yours?

  8. Another great post!  My fingers are crossed that the tank and the wrap are in my budget because I would really like to purchase them.  If not, that means I’m not supposed to spend the $$.  Oh, when Savannah photo boomed your pictures in a previous post, the only reason she was noticeable was her black pads on her paws.  She blends in with the carpet.  I hope you are having a nice Saturday!

  9. Jo-Lynne, on your “Fall Wardrobe Checklist” (which is wonderful BTW!) you mentioned a quilted jacket. Would a utility jacket meet the same criteria? Does the color of jacket change the look/feel of this?

  10. Hi Jo-Lynne, Loved this post, especially the denim shorts try-ons. I got a good 😆 from your comment about following a younger blogger – been there! Would love to see any longer denim shorts you find.  I can never find any that are long but not frumpy! I’ve just added the Daily Ritual dress to my cart – I’m always skeptical of dresses at that price but love how it looks on you! Thank you and have a lovely Sunday! Xo Nipa

  11. I am really looking for a cute big puffed sleeve top. Bigger than the white eyelet sleeves you showed. I saw one in red from NY & Co. What do you think? Please let me know. I have a BD coming up and I want to look puffy in the sleeves! Thanks, Anne

  12. Why do you think the Amazon swing dress works for you but the Madewell dress that looks so cute on Becca doesn’t? Curious because they seem like the cut is similar on both.

I just bought the Amazon dress in navy. Keeping in but I think I would like it better if it had a v-neck. I also have two of the Madewell dresses but haven’t worn them this summer.

    1. I don’t know, it just didn’t fit right – tight in the chest. I will see if I can find the pictures and add them to this post. Oh, and also, it’s a lot shorter than the Amazon one.
