Try-On Haul: Loft, J.Crew, Everlane, Madewell, AG Jeans + More

Try On Haul: Loft, J.Crew, Everlane, Madewell, AG Jeans, Mother Denim, 3x1 Denim BlankNYC Denim

Hello, hello! I’ve got another try-on haul for you today!

As usual, product descriptions are beneath the pictures. For reference, I’m 5’5″ and between 135-140 lbs; and I typically wear small in tops, 8 in dresses, and 6 or 8 (28 or 29) in pants and jeans.

Okay, then! Now that all the fine print is out of the way…

Try-Ons: Nordstrom/Shopbop/Saks

Pardon my stringy hair in some of these pictures. I made a bad choice… as I used to teach my kids to say, haha! I tried to short-cut my get-ready routine and didn’t wash my hair after having it in a ponytail two days in a row. I thought if I blew it out and curled it, it would be fine. #notsomuch

I guess only girls with long hair can get away with those shenanigans. I’m always seeing other bloggers talk about going a week without washing their hair. This does not compute for me. No amount of dry shampoo is going to fix this.

Anyway! Thankfully y’all are here for the clothes…

Treasure & Bond Stripe V-Neck Sweater // I had this sweater in the grey/black for winter, and I liked it but I always felt it was a tad small on me so I didn’t wear it much. When I saw this cheery neon and ivory version, I promptly ordered it in the next size up — a medium. I hear neon is going to be having a moment this spring, and this is a great way to dip your toe in the trend. I’m much happier with the way the medium fits me, so if in doubt, I recommend sizing up.

also wearing: AG The Legging Ripped Ankle Jeans (if you’re a size 32, you’re in luck! They’re marked down to $89!!!) and Veja Esplar sneakers (size down)

Jo-Lynne Shane wearing Madewell Colorblock Catalina Pullover with AG The Legging Ankle Jeans and J.Crew Suede Smoking Slippers

Jo-Lynne Shane wearing Madewell Colorblock Catalina Pullover with AG The Legging Ankle Jeans and J.Crew Suede Smoking Slippers

Madewell Colorblock Catalina Pullover // This color block pullover caught my eye on Shopbop, and it’s on sale so I ordered it. It seems like such a great piece for transitioning from winter to spring. It’s lightweight with a great relaxed vibe, and it has a flattering scoop neck. The colors are dark for springtime, but I love the color blocking so… I’m undecided. For reference, I’m wearing the small.

I must have really liked this sweater because I also ordered it in two solid colors… 🙈

Madewell Kimball Sweater // I didn’t even realize they were basically the same sweater until they all arrived within a day of each other. When this version of the sweater caught my eye on Nordstrom’s website, I thought it looked like a nice basic to carry me into spring, and I ordered both the black and grey — to see which I like better. Incidentally, it also comes in red, rose, and “kale”.

Although it’s probably basic enough to justify keeping both, I try not to buy duplicates. I prefer for each piece in my closet to feel unique, so I decided to keep the grey because I think it’s such a great shade for spring. I can see it with white jeans, black jeans, blue jeans… it’s so versatile. I’m wearing the small in the solids as well.

Here’s the black version of the sweater, along with a new pair of jeans I’m trying out…

Jo-Lynne Shane wearing Madewell Kimball Sweater with Mother Tomcat High-Rise Straight-Leg Ankle Jeans and R Minkoff Mika Mules

Mother Tomcat High-Rise Straight-Leg Ankle Jeans // So… I’m still trying straight cropped jeans, and these come highly recommended. I wish I’d tried them with some other shoes, but I didn’t have a ton of time. I’m going to keep them for a week or two and play around with them, as they seem better than most of the others I’ve tried. Cuffing definitely helps. For reference, these are a size 29, and they fit a little snug in the waist, but I think it’s the right size. I expect them to give some with wear.

also wearing: Madewell Kimball Sweater with R Minkoff Mika Mules

Also, I don’t care for the black version of this sweater much at all. The grey shows the pretty ribbed texture and contrasting cuffs so much better (see below).

Okay, get ready to be blinded… next time I decide to try on shorts, I’ll slather on some self-tanner!

Jo-Lynne Shane wearing Madewell Kimball Sweater with BlankNYC Denim Cuffed Distressed Shorts and Soludos Slotted Thong Sandals

BlankNYC Denim Cuffed Distressed Shorts in Weekend Warrior // These shorts were an impulse purchase after I saw another blogger raving about how she wore them all the time last year. I thought they had potential because they’re not QUITE as short as some.

I realize some of you will hate these, but I think this is a case of “know your audience.” I wouldn’t wear these to a church picnic or to the mall, for example, but I would wear them around the house in the summertime and to host friends by the pool and to visit my neighbors and hang out on the patio. Where I live, and for those purposes, these aren’t totally ridiculous, and there’s something about the destructed casual vibe that I love… they work for my personal style aesthetic.

Go ahead and tell me I’m a fashion victim, I will plug my ears and say, nananana… I can’t HEAR you!!!!

I’m wearing the 29, for reference.

also wearing: Madewell Kimball Sweater with Soludos Slotted Thong Sandals (see below)

Soludos Slotted Thong Sandals

Soludos Slotted Thong Sandals // I’m really excited to share these sandals with you! I’ve been ordering a bunch of sandals, and I’m planning another review post much like my sneaker reviews. I like these a) because they’re different. I don’t expect to see them on every other blogger. And also b) because they stay on my feet!!!

Slides are trending, but besides the fact that they remind me of shower flip flops, they aren’t very practical for doing much walking.

These really stay on your feet because of the design, but I also think they’re flattering in an unconventional way. I dunno… you be the judge. But I think I’m keeping them. Also, I thought the thong would aggravate my feet, but I wore them around for 10 minutes and they already seemed to be softening up. I will just be sure to break them in easily, a few hours at a time.

For size reference, I ordered the 7.5 because I often need to size down in sandals because of my flat, bony feet, lol! They just barely fit, so I would say they’re true to size. Most people would not need to size down.

Jo-Lynne Shane wearing Madewell Kent Cardigan with J.Crew 9" high-rise skinny jeans, Caslon rounded U-Neck Tee, and R Minkoff Mika Mules

Madewell Kent Cardigan // I had this in blue, loved the color, but thought I wanted a smaller size. I decided to order the pink so I could try out a different color, but I like the blue much better. This is probably the better size, though.

also wearing: J.Crew 9″ high-rise skinny jean with button fly (see below) with Caslon rounded U-Neck Tee and R Minkoff Mika Mules

Try Ons: J.Crew

Jo-Lynne Shane wearing J.Crew Factory Printed Boatneck Top with AG The Legging Ripped Ankle Jeans and J.Crew Suede Smoking Slippers

J.Crew Factory Printed Boatneck Top // You may have seen this in yesterday’s Galentine’s outfit post, but I thought I’d go ahead and show you these pictures as well because I dressed it down with blue jeans and navy suede smoking slippers. This top is really cute and so versatile. Highly recommend! I’m wearing a small, for reference.

also wearing: AG The Legging Ripped Ankle Jeans (if you’re a size 32, you’re in luck!) and J.Crew Suede Smoking Slippers

J.Crew 9″ high-rise skinny jean with button fly // These jeans were also featured in yesterday’s post, and you probably can’t see them any better here, but I took the pictures so I’m sharing them.

I’m really impressed with the fit and feel of these jeans. They were comfortable from the get-go, and I wore them for a few hours and they didn’t stretch out too much. They did start to get slightly baggy around the knees, but I think they just needed to be pulled down. For the price, I think they’re an excellent value.

For reference, I have the size 29.

Jo-Lynne Shane wearing J.Crew Factory Printed long-sleeve fitted dress with white Sam Edelman Hazel Pumps

Jo-Lynne Shane wearing J.Crew Factory Printed long-sleeve fitted dress with white Sam Edelman Hazel Pumps

J.Crew Factory Printed long-sleeve fitted dress // This is another J.Crew Factory piece, and I ordered it on a whim. It’s not my typical style, but I love navy and white for spring, and I thought it might be a good work wear piece for some of you. I would not call it fitted, although it has an elastic waist, so that gives it some shape. It’s pretty blousy and I feel it adds some unwanted volume, but it’s still really cute. It’s also fully lined and seems to be well made. Definitely worthy of your consideration if you need something like this!

J.Crew Contrast Ringer T-shirt with Rag & Bone Raw Hem Ankle Skinny Jeans

J.Crew Contrast Ringer T-shirt with Rag & Bone  Raw Hem Ankle Skinny Jeans and Converse Shorelines

J.Crew Contrast Ringer T-shirt // The bright colors and casual styling of this long-sleeve tee caught my eye, and I think it will be great for transitioning into springtime. It’s a little chilly to wear it right now, but I’m holding onto it in hopes that the groundhog was right. This is a small, for reference.

also wearing: Rag & Bone  Raw Hem Ankle Skinny Jeans (see below) with Converse Shoreline kicks

Try Ons: Everlane

Okay, get ready for a grey sweater parade! I wanted to compare Everlane’s cashmere crew and v-neck, and I also found a cute ballet neck sweater I ordered as well.

Everlane is known for quality basics at reasonable prices, and they source all their products from ethical factories around the world, which they visit regularly. I love supporting companies like that, so I’ve been trying to order more from them recently.

Everlane The Cashmere Crew with Mother Tomcat High-Rise Straight-Leg Ankle Jeans

Everlane The Cashmere Crew with Mother Tomcat High-Rise Straight-Leg Ankle Jeans

Everlane The Cashmere Crew // I know crewnecks aren’t the most flattering, but sometimes they’re nice to have as layering pieces. I really like the fit and feel of this sweater. It’s a classic cut, and very flattering — the perfect layering piece.

also wearing: Mother Tomcat High-Rise Straight-Leg Ankle Jeans with R Minkoff Mika Mules

Everlane The Cashmere V-Neck with Mother Tomcat High-Rise Straight-Leg Ankle Jeans and R Minkoff Mika Mules

Everlane The Cashmere V-Neck with Mother Tomcat High-Rise Straight-Leg Ankle Jeans

Everlane The Cashmere V-Neck with Mother Tomcat High-Rise Straight-Leg Ankle Jeans

Everlane The Cashmere V-Neck // For some reason, the v-neck fits a little looser, and while I typically love a classic v-neck sweater, I wish they shape of the V was a little wider. I don’t know, I’m on the fence about this one.

also wearing: Mother Tomcat High-Rise Straight-Leg Ankle Jeans with R Minkoff Mika Mules

Everlane The Cashmere Ballerina Raglan with Mother Tomcat High-Rise Straight-Leg Ankle Jeans and R Minkoff Mika Mules

Everlane The Cashmere Ballerina Raglan with Mother Tomcat High-Rise Straight-Leg Ankle Jeans and R Minkoff Mika Mules

Everlane The Cashmere Ballerina Raglan with Mother Tomcat High-Rise Straight-Leg Ankle Jeans

Everlane The Cashmere Ballerina Raglan // This one, I love. The more open neckline is super flattering, and the 3/4 sleeves make it a great transition piece. It is a cropped fit, which I suppose is going to be good for wearing with higher rise jeans, but I wonder if I want to order in the medium for a looser fit.

For reference, I’m wearing a small in all three of the Everlane sweaters.

also wearing: Mother Tomcat High-Rise Straight-Leg Ankle Jeans with R Minkoff Mika Mules

To get a better feel for this sweater with my normal jeans, I threw on my AG legging ankle jeans and took a few more shots… I still think I might try sizing up.

LOFT Spacedye Textured Hoodie Top with AG The Legging Ripped Ankle Jeans, and Veja Esplar sneakers

LOFT Spacedye Textured Hoodie Top (wearing small) // This lightweight textured tunic with the relaxed hood and deep slit sides is really fun for casual wear. This is exactly how I would wear it — with jeans and sneakers. Very comfy and cute and a great transition piece for spring.

Topshop Mini Adele Faux Leather Top Handle Bag // This bag sold out in the yellow, but it also comes in black and green. It’s cute and on trend, and priced right at $40.

also wearing: AG The Legging Ripped Ankle Jeans (if you’re a size 32, you’re in luck! They’re marked down to $89!!!) and Veja Esplar sneakers (size down)

LOFT Striped Turtleneck Poncho Sweater with AG The Legging Ripped Ankle Jeans and Vince Milo Loafers

LOFT Striped Turtleneck Poncho Sweater // This is a cute poncho option for those of us who are cold natured and like to be cozy. There are no armholes, but it stays in place well despite that. It’s a nice, soft knit, and it’s TTS. I’m wearing the XS/S.

also wearing: AG The Legging Ripped Ankle Jeans (if you’re a size 32, you’re in luck! They’re marked down to $89!!!) and Vince Milo Loafers (still available in a smattering of colors and sizes, seriously one of my best footwear investments ever)

LOFT Knit Pocket Blazer with Banana Republic Leopard Print Pleated Drapey Tank, AG The Legging Ankle Jeans and nude Via Spiga pumps

LOFT Knit Pocket Blazer with Banana Republic Leopard Print Pleated Drapey Tank, AG The Legging Ankle Jeans and nude Via Spiga pumps

LOFT Knit Pocket Blazer // I have a knit blazer that I like, but the quality isn’t the best, so I thought I’d try this. It’s very comfortable, and the quality is there, but the styling is a little too conservative/businessy for my purposes.

If you need conservative work wear, though, this is a great piece because it looks very classic with the length and the gold buttons, but it’s a knit material so it’s verrry comfortable. It has a back vent, and it’s fully lined. For size reference, I’m wearing the 6.

also wearing: Banana Republic Leopard Print Pleated Drapey Tank with AG The Legging Ripped Ankle Jeans and similar pumps

LOFT Modern Trench with with Banana Republic Leopard Print Pleated Drapey Tank, AG The Legging Ankle Jeans, and nude Via Spiga pumps

LOFT Modern Trench with with Banana Republic Leopard Print Pleated Drapey Tank, AG The Legging Ankle Jeans, and nude Via Spiga pumps

LOFT Modern Trench Coat // If you need to update your trench coat for spring, this is a great choice. I love the light “pearl” color, the feminine puffed shoulders, and the gathered yoke in the back. It is 100% cotton, so it tends to wrinkle, but it’s still a really cute coat.

also wearing: AG The Legging Ripped Ankle Jeans (if you’re a size 32, you’re in luck! They’re marked down to $89!!!) and similar pumps

LOFT Destructed Straight Leg Jeans in Authentic Mid Indigo Wash

LOFT Destructed Straight Leg Jeans in Authentic Mid Indigo Wash // I actually rather like these, for a straight cropped style. I think I styled a pair last year, actually. They’re soft and comfortable, and for the price, the wash is pretty good, although I don’t care for that frayed hem. I’m in the 28/6 and they feel like they could get baggy. I don’t know if I could zip up the 27/4 or not, but it may be worth a try.

LOFT Boyfriend Cardigan in Golden Grass // Can you all believe they brought this back? For my newer followers, one of my most popular outfits of all time was this one, featuring a mustard yellow boyfriend sweater with tortoiseshell buttons from Loft. When I saw this sweater at Loft, I ordered it right away so I could recreate the look.

LOFT Boyfriend Cardigan in Nocturne Navy // Here’s the sweater in navy. It’s lightweight and perfect for springtime. For size reference, I have the small in both.

Sam Edelman Linnie Leather Mules // I tried these last week in another color, and I ordered this white pair for possible inclusion in a sponsored post. I think I like the nude color better, though. Definitely size down in these. I ordered the 8, and I need the 7.5.

LOFT Melange Mock Neck Dress // How fun is this dress? I expected to hate it, but I kind of like it. It would probably look better with tights, as shown on the model… at least until I apply some self tanner! Anyway, it fits well, doesn’t cling, and I think it would make a nice work wear piece. Wearing a small, for reference.

also wearing: Club Monaco booties (this year’s version)

Try Ons: Denim

So I realize I kind of went out of order here. I should have included the Mother denim and Loft jeans in this section. Oh, well.. I guess at this point, I’ll just keep chugging along!

Jo-Lynne Shane wearing J.Crew Contrast Ringer T-shirt with Rag & Bone  Raw Hem Ankle Skinny Jeans and Converse Shorelines

Rag & Bone Raw Hem Ankle Skinny Jeans with Converse Shorelines

Rag & Bone Raw Hem Ankle Skinny Jeans with Converse Shorelines

Rag & Bone Raw Hem Ankle Skinny Jeans // So this is a brand I’ve dabbled with. I do have the black raw hem pair from the #NSale that I kept and wear occasionally, but I admit, they annoy me in that they tend to slide down.

I ordered these because I liked the slightly shorter length and the darker wash. The rear pocket placement and size is perfect for me, and the wash on these is outstanding. So gorgeous. Also, they feel fabulous to the touch — verrrry soft but also a little thicker than my AG.

They do feel like they may slide down with wear, though. I don’t know if I should try to size down to the 28, or if that’s just the way this brand fits, or what. I have a Frame pair that does the same thing. They never bag out of look big on, but they slide down and drive me bonkers.

I want to love these, also because the 27″ inseam is slightly shorter than my usual 28″ or 29″ and is perfect for going into spring and summer, but I’m on the fence because of the sliding issue. I guess I’ll take my own advice and keep the tags on and wear them for an hour or so and see how they feel.

The price is also way up there, so I should also take my own advice on that point as well and wait for a sale.

AG Angel Flare Jeans (also on Amazon) // This is another pair I’ve had my eye on and finally decided to bite the  bullet and order them. As usual, AG comes through for me! First of all, the wash is amazing, and these jeans are sooo soft. They also fit like they were custom made for me.

also wearing: Madewell Inland Turtleneck Sweater with Sam Edelman Hazel Pumps (another option; lower heel option)

I also styled these with jeans the Madewell Kimball Sweater to show how I might wear them going into spring. I absolutely love them, but I’d rather get them on sale so I may send them back and wait.

Next up… a few more budget-friendly options!

Sam Edelman Brazil Kitten Ankle Jeans // These jeans are just okay to me. The material is a little funky — kind of a sateen. They keyhole hem is a fun detail, but maybe a little try-hard. I dunno… let me know what you think! They do fit well, and they’re not see-through.

also wearing: Splendid Nima Mules and Madewell Whisper Cotton V-Neck Pocket Tee (size medium)

BlankNYC Classique Skinny Jeans // For jeans under $100, BlankNYC is one of my favorite brands. They have a nice fit and feel, and they’re flattering, and the wash looks pretty good.

That said, the distressing is obviously where they can’t keep up with the premium brands. For some reason, the distressing on the BlankNYC shorts above look better than these. Even my daughter mentioned the distressed details looked weird to her, but I’m picky about such matters, and I know not everyone cares. In all other aspects, I think they look and fit great.

These are currently on sale for $52.80 with code LOVE, which is a great price. I’m wearing the 29, for reference.

BlankNYC Classic Stretch Jeans // I like this pair a lot better. For one thing, they’re about an inch shorter. I was planning to cut off the other pair if I kept them. These are a great option for those who want a casual wash with no distressing. They’re flattering, and they feel good on too. These are on sale for $54.88 with code LOVE, and I’m wearing the 29.

WHEW!!! I really rushed through some of these to get this post finished, so if you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments.

  1. Some cute things! I had to laugh at the “grey sweater parade” comment. I love grey! And probably have way too much of it in my closet! 😉 I noticed that the Madewell Kimball sweater has wool in it, which I have a very low tolerance for. Is it at all scratchy?

And I like the Mother Tomcat cropped straights. With the cuff, they almost give off a boyfriend jean vibe, and I love boyfriend jeans. After skinnies, they’re my favorite. I like the way the AG bootcut look on you as well, and I’m tempted, but I have two pairs of bootcut jeans that I rarely pull out of my closet. 🙁 Love your try-on sessions!

  2. The yellow cardigan – could you give me the link? I love the look of the t-shirt, cardigan and bootcut jeans. Thanks, Arna

  3. I really like the white jeans and the pair of jeans that you are wearing the cream mules. Can you please give the details on those?  Always looking for the perfect white jeans.
    Thank you, Susan

  4. My favorites are the shorts outfit and the sandals… I think you can and should wear those anywhere you want because they look so good on you! I also loved the red striped top and I liked both Rag & Bone and Loft Jean’s you styled with the top… the Loft ones are the best cropped straight legs I’ve seen on you… IMO! And, of course, I loved the mustard yellow cardigan
with the scarf… just beautiful! Great try-on session! Thank you so much!

  5. Love these try on sessions: they are my favorite! Very helpful. We have similar body types so I learn a great deal of what suits me. Have to slather on the self tanner too for our “get the heck outa winter” vacay….. My legs are as white as sour cream!😂
Enjoy a relaxing Sat with your girls.

    1. It doesn’t help that the filter I use on my pictures makes everything look even whiter and brighter, haha! I’m definitely going to start putting self tanner back into my morning routine.

  6. And I also really like the BlankNYC in the lighter wash on you… the description wasn’t up yet when I commented earlier!! 😀

  7. Loved this post especially the striped j crew ringer tee.  Such a fun color!  Looks great on you.  I had to laugh when I read your comments about the BlankNYC distressed shorts.  I too recently purchase the same pair based on the advice of a blogger that raved about them.  Mine are sitting in a box as I keep going back and forth about whether to keep them!  They are not something I would wear anyplace important yet I do like them for some reason.  My question is about your necklace.  I purchased the star necklace and I noticed that you had it on with a shorter necklace.  Would you happen to have a link on that necklace?  Thank you so much!  Love your blog! Thanks for all your great ideas!

    1. Yeah, I think they’re fun, and I can see getting a lot of wear out of them here at home and in the neighborhood. I have a hard time finding shorts that fit that aren’t AG prices, so I’m happy to find these.

I meant to go back and link my jewelry. Here is that smaller necklace – https://shopstyle.it/l/Zmzd

  8. I’ve had two pairs of Rag & Bone jeans and they always slid down on me, too! I was happy to hear I wasn’t the only one. Such great material and when they were “up” they looked great, but not worth pulling them up all the time. AG jeans all the way. 🙂 I actually have the AG Isabelle with an exposed button fly like the black pair you tried on and I wore at Christmas with my family. My sister at the end of one evening told me never to wear them again because she can’t stop staring at my crotch. I was so embarrassed that I haven’t been able to wear them since. I’m hoping as the style becomes more mainstream it draw so much attention to itself because the thought of everyone staring at my crotch is not very appealing to me. 🙂 Do you ever try trends that you just don’t feel comfortable in? Does that ever change as it becomes more mainstream? Wondering if I should just sell them now. 🙂

    1. So that’s just what R&B does? What a shame. The fit and wash and pockets and length and well, everything on those is perfection… except for the sliding issue. Boo.

As for the crotch, that is too funny. My daughter wears the Madewell ones like that a lot, and I have a friend who wore a pair when we went shopping together — both tuck their tops all the way in like the fashion bloggers do, lol. (Both are thinner than I am.)

ANYWAY, I don’t think it looks weird at all, but I’m used to seeing those jeans on Instagram. I wouldn’t get rid of them. They’re AG, for goodness sake! If you like the fit, hold onto them and see if you get more comfortable in them.

      1. Thanks for the reply. I think you are right, it is just a matter of whether you are used to seeing them. I love the look but I also lived through the 90s so it’s kind of fun for me. I think maybe I’ll ease back into them with some untucked looks. Thanks for the therapy, ha!

  9. I have those denim shorts or very similar ones from BlankNYC. I wear them allllll the time down the shore. To the beach, for ice cream. I’ve even dressed them up it’s a crisp while shirt, fun belt and wedges to go out to dinner in Avalon. They are some of my favorites.

  10. Loved this post! Lots of things to try. Thanks for taking the time to put it together! I think the knit blazer would be great for my business casual office. Wish the distressed AGs were available in more sizes – haven’t done distressed in the past but reading your post about contrast in outfits makes me think I should try some.

  11. Another great try in session:) I’ve never seen so many grey sweaters it was hard to pick a favorite. The trench coat is sooo cute. And the striped top and sandals where also a favorite. I didn’t see anything wrong with the white jeans and thought the bottom was a little different. May just need getting used to. These are great ideas for transitioning. I’m really getting tired of the winter stuff but it’s still so cold:( so time for some brighter sweaters.
    Have a great weekend 😀

  12. Love these try on posts, my favorite is the yellow cardigan outfit!
I wanted to mention, ever since I updated my email address with your site a few weeks ago, I am not receiving Saturday emails anymore. All other days come through just fine, just not Saturdays. It’s not in the spam folder either….

      1. It’s really strange. I used to get them every day when I was signed up with yahoo, but received too much junk mail in general, so I switched to gmail. Hope I’ll receive one next Saturday, if not, then I might switch back to yahoo again. Or maybe I’ll unsubscribe and re-subscribe. Thanks for looking into it too! I always enjoy reading your emails + blog.

        1. Gmail is better, but it takes it a while to figure out what you want to see. That said, you may have unsubscribed from the weekly newsletter… although I didn’t know that was possible, lol. And I don’t see anything amiss on my end. Let me know if you have any more issues.

  13. Love these try-on posts so much! It’s great to see a real person wearing different clothes and your comments are helpful as well. I have a question about your white t-shirts. Do you find either the Calson or the Madewell T to be less see through? I’m always on the lookout for a good white T, and I will wear a nude bra underneath. I’ll probably wear a cardigan too, but it’s nice to know that nothing will show through. J Crew Factory makes a great round neck white T that’s not see-through at all but I’d like another neck style.

  14. The AG Angel Flare jeans are super flattering on you – long, lean & sexy. Pair them with heels, cami & black leather jacket for date night. Pair them with booties and your tan suede jacket for daytime casual. You’ve got to keep them! Sorry about the bossy attitude!

  15. Fun read! Distressed and regular denim shorts are a summer staple for me. Comfortable and perfect for my lifestyle. I have three pair of dressier shorts for dining out and such, but once I’m back home the denim comes back on.
I’m also on board with the Rag and Bone denim sliding down (and I have a blush pair of Current/Elliott that I fight as well, but the color coordinates really well with the top pieces so I use them). Kind of frustrating though.
And I noticed your mini yellow handbag. Read where that’s an upcoming trend. Handbag space is like prized real estate for me so I definitely won’t be on the mark there. I don’t mind sitting that one out though!
Enjoy you day and thanks for sharing!

  16. Love the Try- On Haul. You still look stunning in the yellow cardigan and leopard print scarf.
Just absolutely love that. I know that you don’t wear dresses very often but you look great in them. Thank you for all the great ideas.

  17. I’m curious – when you mentioned you would have cut off the longer jeans, would you have had them tailored to keep the hem or cut them off yourself for a raw hem? I’ve been wanting to try the latter but am nervous it will fray too much if I do a DYI. If you’ve done it successfully, would love to hear tips. Thanks!

    1. The BlankNYC jeans I would have just cut off and left raw b/c they are already distressed and they aren’t terribly expensive. The AG flares I may need to have hemmed properly… they are BARELY too long, so I’m going to wash them first and see how they look with my platform wedges this spring and then decide.

  18. Some excellent choices for transition weather dressing. And I love all the jeans, although my aging knees don’t look so hot in the ripped styles anymore. You look fantastic in the flare and bootcut jean style; they are perfect for your body! Hey Jennifer Aniston is frequently photographed wearing that style of jean instead of skinny leg jeans, and she’s one of the most stylish women around! Great post!

  19. Love the Treasure and Bond V neck sweater.  Yellow is such a fun color for spring but I can’t wear it near my face so this looks like a cute compromise!  When you say the color is “neon” is it really that bright (like highlighter yellow) or is it a more muted lemon yellow?  It doesn’t look too outlandishly bright on my screen.

  20. Hi Jo-Lynne!
Question about the Loft Hoodie – on the website those side slits look like they come up really high…does it seem like you’d have to worry about exposing your waist/waistband at all?

(Side note: I do love the AG boot cut jeans, but the thing I hate about them is the inseam – 35″ ??  Even if I wore them exclusively with heels, I would still have to hem them – which adds to the cost and also requires two errands to get it done 🙁   )

    thanks, Lynn

    1. I hear ya but it’s worth it when you pay that much for jeans to have them hemmed properly to the right length. That said, the AG are 34″ inseam, I think. And yeah, still a tad too long for me. My 7FAM bootcuts came in 33″ and they’re perfect.

  21. You picked out so many really cute things for this post–wow! I adore the Loft gray dress and the Soludos sandals. (I am like you in that my shoes have to feel secure on my feet while walking!) The Angel Flare jeans are to absolutely die for. As for the white jeans, I think they are not really too try-hard, but I think maybe they’re just too long on you. They are ankle jeans, but they come alllll the way down onto your ankles and the little opening is bunched up a little bit. It’s hard to say for sure, but I think where that hits might be why it may or may not look just right. You said you might size up in the Everlane ballerina sweater, but it looks really right in the pictures, unless it just doesn’t feel good or it’s just too short. To my eye, the proportion looks really good with those cropped jeans. Fun post today!

  22. I love the J. Crew striped tee and R&B jeans outfit on you! I also thought the LOFT blue hoodie was super cute and the AG flare jeans are very flattering on you. I’m not a fan of the Mother Tomcat jeans on you, I think the LOFT straight leg frayed jeans look better. The Mother jeans remind me of mom jeans with the long butt & crotch. Have you tried AG ex-boyfriend jeans? I love those for a loose casual look.

  23. Oh boy!  So many fun outfits!  I love that you recreated that mustard yellow cardigan and leopard scarf outfit.  It still looks amazing on you.  I’m so happy I ordered it and can’t wait to wear it!  As for your distressed shorts….they look great on you.  Enjoy them! They may not be for everyone, but you do you! 😊

  24. Loved this try on session!  Thank you for options in jeans….I’m a bit older (probably 10 years!) but I really like what you choose.  I am not a fan of the frayed hems so having choices really helps.

  25. Love the Loft poncho and the mustard sweater. I just ordered some BlankNYC jeans to try. I have one pair that I really love. There were lots of good things in this try on. Hope you’re having a great weekend.

  26. Well, I’ve had one heck of a time with this post, so I have finally given up.  After the Loft portion, things started jumping around and none of the denim pictures are visible on my iPad.  I do love the striped top.  I hope you had a great day!

  27. I have followed you for a while now and don’t think I have ever seen a blog on shapewear. Did I miss it?
    thanks Alice

  28. I love when you try on a lot of things like this one. So fun to see the lighter colors for spring. Do you know of any apple shaped bloggers I could follow too?

    1. It’s hard for me to pinpoint other bloggers’ body types, so no one comes to mind right off the bat.☺️ Maybe try clicking on some of the blogs in my Fashion Friday linkup to see if anyone resonates.

  29. I love the J Crew Contrast Ringer T-Shirt. The J Crew website says it’s red but it looks more orange than red in your pictures and on the J Crew website. Do you think it looks more red or orange? Thanks!

  30. I totally remember the yellow sweater with the leopard scarf look from before – you should do a #TBT post with the “old” and new looks sided by side! I do like the newer sweater and the jeans you have on in the try on post better! I really have to take the plunge this time and get that yellow sweater! Thanks for all the comments and the large try-on session – I think all readers appreciate how much work this is!

  31. What size did you get in the jcrew “fitted” although it’s not fitted navy and white dress?? I’m trying to order the same one right away as it’s on Sale but am torn on size
