Try-On Haul: LOFT, Trunk Club, Old Navy, Banana Republic, Target, Amazon, Tory Burch & Everlane

Greetings! I hope y’all are having a nice weekend and managing to stay warm. It’s still in the single digits here in Philly. I can’t wait for Monday because it’s supposed to warm up.

Today I’ve got another try-on haul for you. I got my monthly Trunk Club delivery this week, and my stylist sent me a bunch of jeans and mules to try. I also received a Loft order that I placed during their 50% off sale last weekend, and then there are a few other random things from Old Navy, Banana Republic, Target, Amazon, Tory Burch and Everlane. It’s a doozie!

For size reference, I’m 5’5″ and 135–140 pounds, depending on how many times we had takeout this week, and I’m short waisted with an hourglass figure. Thanks to today’s vanity sizing, I typically wear an 8 in dresses, a small in tops, and a 6 or 8 in pants (28 or 29 in jeans.)

Okay, let’s get started!

Try Ons: Trunk Club

If you’re not familiar with Trunk Club, it’s a subscription service sourced by Nordstrom. You’re assigned a stylist, and she selects 8–10 items for you each month based on a survey you fill out online. I don’t know if they still do this or not, but I actually had an initial phone call with my stylist, and we talked about my style, my needs, and my wardrobe challenges. It’s hit or miss at first, but she gets to know you over time and gets better at selecting things for you. She will also mind your budget, so you can let her know your preferred price points.

I like to get a mix because I’m always looking for things for my personal wardrobe as well as the blog. I sometimes splurge on luxury items when I have Trunk Club credits to spend, and I also like to see what trendy options are available at the lower price points. My stylist helps keep me current, and in turn, I share things with you that I might not have discovered on my own!

This month I requested jeans and beige mules, and I told her I’m interested in trying more straight cropped styles.

All of my thoughts and product links are below the pictures.

BP. Distressed High Waist Crop Flare Jeans // As we discussed in my Q&A on Thursday, BP. is both the Nordstrom junior’s department and a Nordstrom-exclusive brand. These jeans are the BP. brand, and they’re priced accordingly at $65.

I actually found these jeans to be quite comfortable, but the wash and distressed details are a little rough. I’m not seeing as much of the cropped flares as I am the lighter wash cropped straight styles on the more hip fashion blogs, but these definitely have a more modern vibe than my usual skinnies. I guess I’m still waiting for my eyes to adjust; I’m not quite loving this look.

These jeans are TTS, or size down if in between. I’m wearing the 28.

Caslon Luke Knotted Mule // Another Nordstrom-exclusive brand, Caslon makes good quality styles at accessible prices. These mules are surprisingly comfortable, and while I didn’t initially think I cared for the styling, they are actually kind of growing on me, the more I look at these pictures. I like the color because they aren’t too yellowy. Maybe I should try them on with some of my other jeans and see how I feel about them. They’re TTS; I’m wearing my usual 8.

AQUA Boatneck Sweater // I’ve shared this one before, but I really like it so I thought I’d mention it again for those who missed it. I put it on with these jeans because I thought the cropped, boxy style would work well with the style of jeans. It’s a great transition piece you can start wearing now if you’re in an area with milder winters, and it will carry me well into spring.

1822 Denim Ankle Straight Leg Jeans // Another BP. department brand is 1822 Denim, and most of these jeans are less than $50!

I’m actually tempted to keep this pair and try to work with them as the weather warms up. At $45, they’re a great price for a trendy style I may or many not wear a lot, and the material is lightweight and stretchy — perfect for spring and summer. The lighter wash seems to be more on trend for this style than the darker ones above.

These definitely run big; I’m wearing the 28 and wonder if I should even size down to 27, as I anticipate them stretching out a bit with wear.

J.CREW Pointed Toe Slide Sandal // These shoes are really cute and actually more walkable than you might expect — but since they’re velvet, I don’t see myself getting much wear out of them in our climate. It’s too cold to wear them now, and by the time the weather warms up around here, they will look too wintery. They run true to size; I’m wearing the 8.

Sam Edelman Laurna Mules // I really like these but they’re a half-size too big so I’m exchanging them for the 8. They have that Princetown Mule vibe but with a much more palatable price tag, and I always find Sam Edelman shoes to be comfortable and fit well.

Something Navy Cigarette Jeans // Something Navy is a NYC fashion blog, and these jeans are part of her collaboration with Nordstrom.

These jeans are more in line with the style I’m noticing on the urban-focused fashion blogs. I like that they don’t flare — in fact, they almost taper. They’re also a heavier, stiffer denim, which tends to go hand in hand with this style of jean.

At $89, they aren’t a huge investment if I don’t end up liking them, but I think it’s a good option for this style. I like them better than most others I’ve tried, although I still can’t stop thinking about those 3×1 straight crop jeans from my try-on haul last week.

Here they are, for comparison’s sake:

jeans // sweater // shoes

For size reference, I’m wearing the 28 in the Something Navy Cigarette Jeans, and they’re snug, but I think they are the right size. Even though they’re stiff, I think they’ll give some with wear. I can’t remember the size I was wearing in the 3×1 straight crop jeans. I ordered both the 28 and 29, and I didn’t make a mention of the size I tried on. #ooops

also wearing: Caslon rounded v-neck tee (top) and AQUA Boatneck Sweater (bottom)

NYDJ Sheri High Waist Slim Jeans // Sorry these pictures are so grainy! It was getting dark outside. These are nice-fitting jeans if you’re looking for a classic straight cut pair of black jeans. They’re not what I was looking for, so they’re going back. These run TTS or size down if in between; I’m wearing the 6.

also wearing: Caslon rounded v-neck tee and R Minkoff Mika mules

Madewell Kent Cardigan Sweater // This cardigan is really soft and comfortable and cozy, and I love the relaxed pockets. I think it would actually look better if I sized down to an XS. I had a Kent cardigan in a color block pattern in the fall, and I sized down to the XS and was very happy with it. I think cardigans look frumpy if they’re too voluminous.

The heather raindrop marled blue is gorgeous, and it also comes in gold, black, and a gorgeous light pink called Heather Carnation. See even more color options in the Madewell Kent cardigans.

also wearing: NYDJ Sheri jeans with R Minkoff Mika mules (top) and Something Navy cigarette jeans with Sam Edelman Laurna mules (bottom)

Try Ons: Loft

Okay, moving on to Loft! I ordered a few things back when they were having their 50% off sale, which is what I’m sharing here.

They’re running a 40% off sale this weekend, so I placed a large order yesterday for store pickup, but unfortunately we got some unexpected snow, and the roads iced up because of the super cold temperatures. I tried to go out, not realizing it was accumulating (this snow was not in the weather forecast!) and almost wrecked my car. I spun out but somehow managed to stay on the road. At that point, I was only 5 minutes into my 25-mile drive to the LOFT store that had my order so I decided to turn around and come home.

SALE ALERT >> Take 40% off full-price styles at Loft with code LOVE.

All that to say, I don’t have as many Loft styles to show you as I’d hoped, but I did update my Loft Favorites in The Shop if you want to see what I ordered. I’m hoping to get over there today to pick it up and maybe I’ll put them on my Insta Story or even add them to this post later today. The sale goes through Monday, I believe.

LOFT Textured Tunic Sweater // This is a pretty sweater and it has some nice details. It’s longer than I prefer and tends to cut me in half rather than creating the 1/3 to 2/3 ratio that is most flattering, so I sent it back, but if this length works for you, it’s a great transition piece going into springtime.

Good American Good Legs High Waist Skinny Jeans // I’ve shared these before, but in case you missed it, they’re a good classic dark wash skinny jean. The material feels a little rougher to the touch than my beloved AGs, and they don’t fit quite as tight to the calf, which can be a good thing — it just depends on what else you’re wearing with them. I like them with pumps, loafers, and ballet flats; notsomuch with boots.

These jeans have an 11″ front rise, so they’re definitely high rise. I like that for wearing with sweaters that are more fitted and unforgiving if you have any lumps and bumps; these jeans keep everything smooth underneath.

also wearing: Sam Edelman Felicia flats (I have had these for years, and they’re still going strong! They feel like slippers, and I like the classic styling. They remind me of the Chanel ballet flats.)

LOFT Piped Button Trim Raglan Sweater // This is such a cute sweater for spring! I mean, you could start wearing it now, but it really says “Spring!” to me with the subtle nautical vibe. It also comes in a really pretty Rosebud Pink.

also wearing: Good American Good Legs High Waist Skinny Jeans and Sam Edelman Felicia flats

LOFT Skinny Slit Cuff Pants in Marisa Fit // Loft is killing it with their pants right now. These are made of the same super soft stretch sateen as the sailor skinny pants above, and they have the same flattering cut. No buttons on these, but the slit cuff is a nice detail. I also think the mustard yellow is a really fun color for spring, and they say yellow is trending again this season. They’re also TTS, and I’m in the 6.

also wearing: LOFT piped button trim raglan sweater and J.Crew smoking slippers in navy

LOFT Skinny Slit Cuff Pants in Marisa Fit // I also ordered these pants in the black cherry, and I styled them two ways. Obviously you could layer it up with a black leather jacket, or top them off with a tee and cardigan combo. There are endless styling possibilities with these pants. They’re great for casual work environments.

also wearing: LOFT piped button trim raglan sweater with J.Crew smoking slippers in navy (top) and similar grey pullover with grey Vince Milo loafers (bottom)

LOFT Skinny Sailor Skinny Pants // These pants are super cute on — flattering, comfortable, and I love the seaming detail on the sides as well as the buttons.

They’re TTS for Loft; I’m wearing the 6. They do feel like they’ll stretch, so definitely size down if in between.

I love these pants so much, I tried a few different ways to style them.

LOFT Skinny Sailor Skinny Pants // AQUA boatneck sweater // R Minkoff Mika mules

Madewell Inland rolled turtleneck // black leather jackets // R Minkoff Mika mules // Gorjana necklace

similar grey pullover // Veja Esplar sneakers // D Yurman necklace

Try Ons: Old Navy, Banana Republic, Target, Amazon, Tory Burch & Everlane

So the rest is a mish-mosh of orders I’ve placed in the last few weeks, and it’s all over the place — pants, jeans, loafers, blouses, handbags, earrings… Hopefully something will resonate with you!

Old Navy Plush-Knit Long-Line Open-Front Sweater // This cardigan is very similar to the Madewell one above, but priced much lower. The quality certainly isn’t as nice, but it’s still a good value for a pretty sweater. I love this Icelandic Mineral color, but it also comes in a classic black as well as mushroom and a white/grey marl. This is a small, and it’s the right fit.

also wearing: NYDJ Sheri jeans with R Minkoff Mika mules

Old Navy Cozy Marled V-Neck Sweater // This sweater is really cute and the perfect color for this time of year. It also comes in a pretty periwinkle blue. The material is soft and comfortable on, and there are some pretty details in the knit that elevate it above a simple v-neck. The material is primarily cotton and polyester, and I’d say the quality is on par for Old Navy. It’s definitely a cutie!

SALE ALERT >> Get 20% off your Old Navy order with code SWEET.

Everlane The Cheeky Straight Jean // I’ve been wanting to try Everlane jeans, so I ordered these. They’re very similar to the Something Navy Cigarette Jeans above, but the rise is about an inch and a half longer. The shorter rise definitely looks better on me, as I’m only 5’5″. I guess I should haver ordered the ankle length version.

The price is great, and Everlane is all about using ethical factories and responsible retail practices, so you can feel good about supporting the brand.

Free People At Ease Loafer Mule // I ordered these mules, as I’m still on the hunt for a comfortable pair of neutral loafer mules for spring. These are comfortable to walk in, but the color is awfully yellow. Because of my coloring, I wear mostly cool tones, so I think I need to find a pair in a cooler neutral — more of a taupe.

I think the Sam Edelman Laurna Mules are going to work a little better, although they look kind of yellow too — it could be that trying to photograph them on this carpet is throwing the color off a bit.

also wearing: Old Navy Cozy Marled V-Neck Sweater

K-Swiss Women’s Court Frasco Sneaker // Yep, still ordering sneakers! Haha! I am keeping the Vejas, but I wanted to try these for you guys because they are quite similar. The quality difference is evident — these feel much cheaper to the touch, but I had just been wearing my Vejas when I tried these on, so that was particularly noticeable to me. For the price, these are a really cute sneaker. They are wider and bulkier than the Vejas, but I like the styling a lot, and I also like that they don’t have metal eyelets where they lace up.

That is actually something I noticed when trying on all the sneakers. The “cool” ones did not have metal eyelets, whereas the ones I would consider a little more stodgy, for lack of a better word, did. It’s a cleaner look and somehow seems to up the style quotient a bit.

also wearing: Zella Taryn Ultrasoft Recycled Jogger Pants (size up if in between; I have a small and wish I had the medium)

FURLA Metropolis Mini Cross Body // I’ve been wanting to add a red crossbody to my closet, so when I saw this bag on Amazon, I ordered it. Furla is a mid-price contemporary label that I haven’t explored much, but I’m definitely impressed with this bag. It’s great quality and the styling is really cute. Unfortunately it’s smaller than I realized, and it doesn’t hold my phone. Womp, womp… I guess the words “mini crossbody” should have tipped me off. Haha!

also wearing: Nordstrom Signature Cashmere Pullover and AG legging ankle jeans with MOLOCH Acrylic Tortoise Shell Hoop Earrings, Gorjana Super Star NecklaceGorjana Chloe Charm Necklace, and SHASHI Warrior Double Pendant Necklace

MOLOCH Acrylic Tortoise Shell Hoop Earrings // Another Amazon Fashion find, these tortoiseshell earrings are super fun. I wore them yesterday with this exact outfit, and even my daughter commented on how much she liked them on me. They’re only $8, and that’s about right for the quality, but they’re fun for a season.

also wearing: Nordstrom Signature Cashmere Pullover with AG legging ankle jeans

Tory Burch Ines Wedge Slides in Perfect Navy / Gold // Oh, how I wanted to love these!!! I’m a sucker for Tory Burch sandals — I have a pair of TB nude wedge sandals I’ve had for 3 or 4 years, and I get excited every spring when I pull them out again. I’ve had my eye on these Ines wedge slides for a while, and now that I’m planning my Scottsdale trip in a few weeks, I decided to order them.

They are gorgeous, as one would expect, but I can’t walk in them. As you can see, they’re cut fairly narrow, which is good for me, and initially I thought I could keep them on my feet. However, as I walked around on the carpet, I almost twisted my ankle at one point, and I walked right out of them at another point.

That is when I knew I can’t possibly keep them. I suppose it was partially because I was cold, and when my feet expand a bit in warmer weather, they might work, but it’s not worth the risk. At this price point, they need to be a sure thing. Sadly, they’re going back.

also wearing: Everlane The Cheeky Straight Jeans with Old Navy Cozy Marled V-Neck Sweater

Tory Burch Ines Wedge Slides in Tan / Spark Gold // Yes, I ordered the tan too. I was curious to see them both, but it’s the navy that stole my heart. Ahhhh… so sad. I hate to send them back, but it must be done.

also wearing: Leith Ruched Long Sleeve Dress with MOLOCH Acrylic Tortoise Shell Hoop Earrings, Gorjana Super Star Necklace, and Gorjana Chloe Charm Necklace

When I was at Target last weekend, I decided to check out their handbag department because I heard they have really upped their game. I would have to agree with that! As you may know, I’m a bit of a bag snob and I prefer leather or a good quality coated canvas, however, if you’re a budget bag kinda girl, these are really good.

A New Day Small Reversible Tote Handbag // This tote is HUGE, and yes, it is reversible. Definitely gives you a lot of bang for your buck. It’s very simple, but that’s what I tend to gravitate towards. It looks and feels nice for faux leather, and for $29.99, you can’t beat it.

Universal Thread Kamden Crossbody Bag // This is a really cute crossbody, it’s a great size for everyday, and the quality belies the price point. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly crossbody, this is a good one! It also comes in a few other colors.

also wearing: Nordstrom Signature Cashmere PulloverAG legging ankle jeans, and Veja Esplar sneakers with MOLOCH Acrylic Tortoise Shell Hoop Earrings, Gorjana Super Star NecklaceGorjana Chloe Charm Necklace, and SHASHI Warrior Double Pendant Necklace

Okay guys, we’re in the home stretch!

Leopard Print Pleated Drapey Tank // I ordered this leopard print blouse from Banana Republic because I’ve been wanting a cami or a fun blouse to wear under my knit blazer and possibly with my leather jacket when it gets warmer. I tried it front-tucked and untucked, and then with the knit blazer that I wanted it for. As you can see, it could be nipped in at the waist to be ultra-flattering, but when I add the structured jacket on top… vavavoom!

I probably won’t ever wear it without a jacket, however, I like that it’s modest enough that I can take off my jacket if I need to. It’s TTS; for reference, I have the small.

also wearing: WHBM Effortless Slim Bootcut Pants with Sam Edelman Hazel Pumps and Caslon One Button Knit Blazer (stripe versionsimilar solid black options)

  1. Love the try-on sessions! 🙂 I have to admit that I’m still not loving the straight cropped look. The 3×1 jeans are still my favorite of the ones you’ve tried, but for me, I just can’t see spending that kind of money on jeans that I’m not sure I’ll love. And when I got to the pics where you’re wearing your skinnies, imo, they’re so much more flattering. 🙂 Actually I really love that outfit with the navy cashmere sweater, the skinnies, and the white sneakers. I really think I need to try the Uggs. Off to see if they have metal eyelets or not, lol.

    1. Yep, I agree on the jeans, although I can’t stop thinking about those 3×1 ones, but maybe that’s just because they’re the lesser of all the evils, haha! The UGGs did have the metal eyelets, but they’re still really cute and the leather insides are super comfy and luxe. They’re probably my next favorites after the Vejas and Greats.

  2. This was fun!  I like seeing various price points on the different pieces.  As much as I love the wedge sandals, like you, I’d end up twisting my ankle, so they don’t need to be added to my closet.  I have the reversible tote from Target in a grey/bright yellow combo.  You’re right, it is a big tote.  I’m so glad you nor your vehicle were hurt from your spin out, and that you went back home.  Enjoy the birthday celebration today!

    1. Sorry! The Saturday email is always a recap of the week, but I always have a new post on the blog too. The subject may have been misleading. I’ll remember that for next week. 🙂

  3. I love the try on sessions – thanks for all the hard work!! The black dress is stunning on you. Its funny, I think the blue Loft sweater is very flattering on you.
Thanks for checking out Target. The crossbody purse is just what I’m looking for. The leopard sleeveless top with fitted blazer is a winner – vavavoom indeed!
Day #2 of polar vortex so cleaning, cooking and hunkering down waiting out the deep freeze. We have a week of this crazy hard weather to endure: – 5F ain’t much fun!!

    1. Ugh, stay warm! Today is our last day of it, I think. Tomorrow is a balmy 25 degrees when we wake up, so I’m hoping to run outside. I skipped the treadmill today since I went yesterday, and two days in a row on the treadmill make me want to cry.

I’m glad you like the crossbody! And yeah, the sweater is flattering from that side view, but front-on, it kind of cuts me in half. It’s a pretty sweater, though.

  4. Hi Jo Lynne, I noticed your tortoise shell earrings you wore with the navy cashmere sweater. I clicked on the link you gave and your earrings look more like the leopard than the tortoise. Just wanted to verify the color as sometimes items are a slightly different color in the on line pictures….
    Thank you!

    1. Okay, so this is weird. I looked at my order and they are called “Bohemia Tortoise” I think, but it’s hard to tell from my order. At any rate, I’m not seeing my exact pair right now on the Amazon site. I do think the Leopard looks most like the ones I have, but mine are the shape of the D-Tortoiseshell. I would get the Leopard, if I were you. There is also these in beige leopard – https://shopstyle.it/l/Y3Lt.

  5. I really wanted to like a pair of the cropped jeans but it’s still a no. I wonder if they flared more, would it look more intentional, less like cut too short jeans?  I’ll keep looking as I think they would be cute with sandals.
I still don’t like slides. They make ones feet look very long. I had hoped that trend passed.
The loft pants are cute! I really liked them styled with your Veja sneakers.
My favourite piece is the leopard tank. It’s a great way to add some pattern to an otherwise neutral outfit. A very versatile piece.
This was a fun way to see what’s out there while sitting here in my comfy bathrobe with coffee in hand.

    1. The first ones I tried were flared and I think that looks worse. I like a bit of a taper, because it follows the line of the leg. Still, at the end of the day, I’m team legging ankle jeans forever! I know my eye will eventually adjust to wider styles, but aside from the $$$ 3×1 pair, none of these really excite me.

      1. I agree! I’m keeping my skinnies! Although, I will keep trying on to see if my eye adjusts. It took me awhile to cotton on to skinny jeans.

  6. I scored the K-Swiss sneakers for $25.70 on Amazon! How is that possible? Still waiting for them to email me saying it’s a mistake. The try-on posts are my favorite (and always seem to find something I can’t live without), thank you for doing them, I’m sure it’s a lot of work. I wish the Tory Burch wedges had worked for you – they are darling!

  7. Hi Jo-Lynne,
First, so glad to hear you (and your car!) are safe and, second, that you did not twist or sprain your ankle on the slide shoes! Pretty much everything you showed today looked great on you- agree that the black dress and the sleeveless top look especially nice. This post was so much fun- I just loved it over coffee and I sure appreciate the hours of work that had to go into a post this varied- thank you! I even ordered a couple of the items to try! I look forward to your blog every day- you’re the best!

  8. Great post!  It’s nice to start thinking about spring and warmer weather!  I am wondering if you can repost some information about the 1/3 – 2/3 rule.  I’m longwaisted and I’ve forgotten how the rules apply for that. A refresher would be great! Thanks for all of your information!

  9. What a haul! I was tired just thinking about all the changing you did. LOL Too bad about the TB sandals. Yes, for a hefty price they need to be AWESOME. I actually had ordered some UGG slip on slippers that I adored, but they had a good inch platform and I turned quickly and fell off and could only see a broken ankle in my future. No time for that, so returned. 😢

  10. The leopard sleeveless blouse is my favorite. I think the blue Loft tunic sweater is very flattering on you. It is pretty and not boxy like the white sweater. Not loving the cropped jeans, unless they are cuffed.

  11. I finally ordered those earrings! I was convinced I needed them after seeing your IG story yesterday. So cute.
I can’t get over how much I love that navy cashmere, ugh. It’s not in my budget, but I definitely think it was a great decision to keep for you 😊. Looks great with the sneakers!
I’m loving those sailor pants too, especially with the grey top and sneakers -definitely how I would wear them. Currently in my cart, along with too many other things, waiting on your try on later to see if I need anything else, lol. I got that textured tunic in the gold color last week and agree it’s an odd length. A little too short for leggings and a tad too long with jeans for me. Not sure if I’m keeping or not.

    1. They earrings are so cute, right??? And the blue sweater is a little ridic, but I couldn’t part with it.🙈 I’ve been wearing it 2 or 3 times a week since I got it, lol! If I had known it was coming, I wouldn’t have kept the color block one. Although I like it too, I tend to grab for this one more.

Don’t wait on me. I didn’t get to Loft. I hope to pick up my order on the way to visit the in-laws, and I may get to do try-ons tomorrow after church. This always seems to happen. I hate store pickups, lol! It would have been so perfect if it had worked out yesterday.

  12. What a fun post!  Such a great variety of outfits and pieces.  I like the idea of the straight crops, but I have such short legs that I’m afraid I will have to pass on that trend.  Ha ha  I envy those of you with longer legs!  Thanks for the try on session.  It gave me lots of ideas.  Stay warm!

  13. My favorites on you were the 1822 cropped jeans and the pink marled sweater from Old Navy… love the super casual look. Didn’t like the way the Loft pants wrinkled at the seams. Not a fan of the mules or any kind of flats for me… they make me feel frumpy!! I prefer some kind of heel or wedge! The loafer style mules always look so good on you. Although, you could wear a paper bag and look good!! Love your style!!

  14. I really love these try on posts, you look good in everything!  I especially love those LOFT sailor pants.  I live in Canada so I can’t always easily get everything you try on or feature in your blog but happily there are a few LOFT stores in Canada.  I am seeing a shopping trip in my not too distant future. I enjoy your blog very much and I feel inspired every time I read it!

  15. Great try-on post (as usual!). There is just something about the cropped straight jeans that isn’t quite right. I like the 3X1 version the best but yikes they are costly for a trendy style you’re not sure you like that well. As a few others said, I really like the light blue LOFT sweater on you. I didn’t think the proportions looked off at all. And I LOVE the LOFT wine color pants and the sailor pants. Unfortunately, I need the Julie fit and the sailor ones only appear to be available in the Marisa fit. Bummer. Although I have my doubts that those buttons would do good things for my hips so maybe it’s for the best.

I’m glad you and your car survived that scary incident! Icy roads terrify me.

  16. Love that outfit with the leopard top!  The top is super cute!  I think it looks great without the jacket!  And the wide leg pants with pointy toes make you look taller and slimmer!  (Reminds me of Stacy and Clinton rules back in the day!)
Hate to be a naysayer but I think the lighter wash jeans look like the “mom jeans” that my mom wore back in the 90s!  Don’t know if that’s the look you’re going for?  If not I might return them!
    Otherwise great try on haul!

  17. Hello ! I was wondering if you have tried the Lolita crop from Lucky Brand ? I am also your height and they hit me just right and look super cute with white tennis shoes.

  18. I bought a top similar to the Piped Button trim Sweater and matched it with black pants of course, but after seeing the mustard yellow and black cherry pants I have pants that are similar in color so going to match the top with them, one top three different color panits.
Love the leopard print blouse outfit so going to look into the blouse

  19. Wow, so many cute things! JoLynne, I really like that first pair of jeans on you! I’m not sure what you’ve decided, but the wash is cute and I think the distressing is fine…not sure what you meant by rough. I recently bought some Free People jeans that are super distressed–it’s the “chewed up mid-rise straight” in the vintage wash. I wasn’t sure if I would keep them, since they are sooo distressed! They’re a little wider in the legs than they look on the model, definitely need a semi-tuck. I don’t know about you, but I was craving something really different!!

Love the mules in the first 2! Can you wear the velvet mules at home when you have a dinner party? Thanks for your fab blog!

    1. When I said rough, I guess I meant it looks sorta cheap to me. 🙂 I like the lighter ones better. I could wear the velvet mules at home, but I’m not sure I’d get the cost per wear out of them. 🙂

  20. I am exhausted just scrolling through this. Thanks so much for taking the time to do this. I LOVE the black cherry pants – those would be great for Valentines Day (or any other day). My mission this spring is new jeans, so I really appreciate all the pants you have tried on lately. It’s given me a lot of great information!

  21. I was wondering if you were going to keep the black dress? I saw a similar look on another bloggers site with white kicks and jean jacket. When I showed the pic to my daughter along with my lbd her response was the blogger had great legs and looked about 20 something.  She thinks I might be a little too old (50 and some ) to be sporting the look. The pic u posted looked good to me. I was also concerned about getting the opportunity to wear the dress w my casual life  style.  Thoughts ? And your plans for dress?

    1. I think the dress is quite casual. I can see wearing a lot of places – mainly out to dinner for more casual date nights or with girlfriends or lunch with girlfriends. I mean, really, you could wear it around town to run errands, with sneakers and the denim jacket. It’s not that dressy, but because it’s so body-con, it does feel a little much for certain venues.

  22. Hey, Jo-Lynne! I’m trying to get caught up with your blog, since I’m a few weeks behind (today is Feb. 21), and I just had to comment… 😊 This was such a great haul of try-ons! I loved everything Loft! I’m pretty sure I pinned all those outfits to my Pinterest board… lol. Also, the leopard print tank, knit blazer, and black pants make a sharp outfit! I definitely need to incorporate animal print into my wardrobe. ☺ Thank goodness your spin-out wasn’t too extreme! Sounded scary, though! At the moment, we’re in flood conditions in my part of KY, enough to where our school district and surrounding counties cancelled school, thus far, 3 of 4 days this week. An additional 2-4 inches of rain is expected overnight, so doubtful if we’ll be in session tomorrow. Anywho, thanks for all the hard work and helpful info you provide on your blog. It’s greatly appreciated!
