Try-On Haul: Amazon Fashion & Target Style

Happy weekend, friends! I prepped this post earlier in the week, and I’m pressing the PUBLISH button from Maine! I arrived yesterday for a quick weekend visit, and it’s absolutely beautiful on the lake this morning.

Today I’ve got another try on haul for you! This is a budget-friendly fashion haul, for the most part. I have a few pairs of premium denim at the end, but most of what I tried this week came from Amazon and Target, and there are some cute transition pieces in here for those of you who are done with winter shopping. I hope it’s helpful!

Late January Try On Haul

All descriptions are beneath the pictures, and for reference, I’m 5’5″ and weigh 135-140 depending on how much pizza I consumed this week. I usually wear a small or size 6 in tops, a small or size 8 in dresses, and a 6 or 8 (28 or 29) in pants and jeans. I’m short-waisted with a slightly hourglass figure (#shortwaistedcurvy for any Adore Your Wardrobe alums out there) and I have a cool skin tone so I tend to gravitate to cooler colors and neutrals.

Daily Ritual Women’s Supersoft Terry Long-Sleeve Deep V-Neck Shirt // I saw Kelly wearing this top on her last Adore Live, and I thought it was so cute, I ordered it on the spot — right on my phone. It’s really soft and comfortable, thin enough to carry you into springtime, but not so thin you can’t start wearing it now. It’s TTS; for reference, I’m wearing a small.

Jo-Lynne Shane wearing Amazon Fashion Liny Xin Crew Neck Long Sleeve Pullover

Liny Xin Crew Neck Long Sleeve Pullover // This chunky pullover is one size fits all, which is really weird, and I almost didn’t order it for that reason, but I was too curious not to. Ha! It comes in a gazillion colors, and it says it’s made of an Inner Mongolia 2-ply cashmere and wool blend, but it retails for $39, so I dunno what to tell you there. (According to the comments, it’s 70% wool and 30% cashmere?) It doesn’t feel like cashmere or wool, really. I would have said it was an acrylic blend if I had to guess. The details in the knit are pretty, but it’s a little long on me, and the waistband is rather tight, so I’ll be sending it back.

REAL TALK: This review begs the question… do you all want me to show the clear misses, or just the styles I vet and think some of you might like? Sometimes if something doesn’t work for me, I think it will work for someone else, so I still share it, but in this case… I would not recommend this sweater. I’m curious what you all would rather see… a highly curated list of recommendations? Or the entire try-on haul with the good, the bad, and the ugly?

BLENCOT Chunky Cable Knit Pullover // So apparently this is a dress. Who knew!?! I think it might be cute with black jeans and black sock booties — I wish I’d tried that. It’s cute and flattering and feels good on. For reference, it’s a small.

Jo-Lynne Shane wearing Amazon Fashion Daily Ritual Women's Cocoon Open-Front Cardigan Sweater

Daily Ritual Women’s Cocoon Open-Front Cardigan Sweater // Of all the Amazon Fashion I’ve tried, I think their Daily Ritual brand is my favorite. This cardigan is sooo soft and cozy. Note the 3/4 sleeves, though. It’s really more of a transition sweater than a cozy cold weather cardigan, even though it is cozy. I’d be cold wearing it right now because of the sleeve length. If you live in an area with milder winters, it’s a great piece for that! For reference, I’m wearing a small.

I Just Want to Drink Wine and Pet My Dog Puppy Lover T-Shirt // These tees run really small (I’m wearing a large, for reference) but they’re soft and comfy, and you know what a sucker I am for a graphic tee. I think this pink color would be cute with grey or black jeans and a blue jean jacket, but it comes in other colors as well. Just be sure to size up 2 sizes!

Jo-Lynne Shane wearing Amazon Fashion Meraki Chunky Wool-Blend Turtleneck Sweater

Meraki Chunky Wool-Blend Turtleneck Sweater // This sweater is really cute on, feels good, and comes in several colors. I think this would make some ladies a nice work wear piece. I recommend sizing up if in between; I’m wearing the medium.

Jo-Lynne Shane wearing Amazon Fashion Meraki Chunky Wool-Blend Turtleneck Sweater with Vigoss Jagger Ripped Skinny Jeans and Golden Goose White Glitter Tab Superstar Sneakers

Meraki Women’s Chunky Turtle Sweater // This is the same sweater in black, and I like it as much in black as I do in ivory! It’s a classic black mockneck sweater with a little extra something due to that diagonal knit detail. It’s wool and acrylic, in case that matters to you. It’s not a super high quality piece, but I think it’s a good value for $43.

Vigoss Jagger Ripped Skinny Jeans // I’m really excited to share these jeans with you! If you love the AG legging ankle jeans I wear all the time, but not the price tag, these are a fabulous substitute for $68. They’re true to size, and they do stretch some with wear, so buy them snug. I’m wearing the 28, which is the same size I wear in AG and Loft jeans.

Golden Goose White Glitter Tab Superstar Sneakers // Haha! Yes, I had to. I love these shoes with this outfit. They’re already on their way back to SSense, but I had them in the house when I was doing these try-ons, so I put them on with this outfit to show you one way I might style them if I had decided to keep them.

Eytino Asymmetric Buttoned Collar Sweater Dress // Well, don’t I feel like a dork! I couldn’t figure out what to do with the neck of this dress. It came buttoned all the way up, but when I turned it down, it covered the buttons, and obviously it isn’t meant to be left up. Well, when I went to write this post, I saw the picture on Amazon. D’oh! I didn’t feel like going back up and putting it on again, so here we are.

It’s obviously VERY short and very tight, and it’s at least one size too small for me (I ordered a small) but I’m not sure it would fit right in the shoulder area if it were much bigger. It feels nice on, isn’t scratchy, and is a fairly thick knit. If you’re in the market for as sweater dress, I’d say this one is worth a try. Pardon my winter white legs. I probably should have pulled on some tights before taking these pictures.

Cable Stitch Women’s Mock Neck Cozy Sweater // Okay, this is just all kinds of wrong. I mean, I can appreciate the cozy, oversized look for cold winter days, but this gives a new meaning to oversized. It’s the small, in case you’re wondering! It is really cozy, though, and I love the neckline, so if you like it, size down like 2 sizes.

A New Day Striped Long Sleeve Knit Hoodie // This was a Target find, and I think it’s such a cute transition piece. It’s comfy, it’s cute, the quality is decent, and the price is right! For reference, I got the small.

Jo-Lynne Shane wearing Universal Thread Freeborn Denim Jacket with Universal Thread Mid-Rise Raw Hem With Side Slit Skinny Jeans and Universal Thread Monterey Pocket V-Neck Short Sleeve T-Shirt in Camo Print

Universal Thread Monterey Pocket V-Neck Short Sleeve T-Shirt in Camo Print // I bought these Target items in store, and I can’t find this tee online. I’ve spent like 20 minutes on it, so I’m going to have to move on. Maybe it’s new and they’ll put it online soon. It’s cute, and it runs a little big. I’m wearing a small and it’s roomy, but I suspect it might shrink so it’s probably about right.

Universal Thread Mid-Rise Raw Hem With Side Slit Skinny Jeans // I like these in theory, but the fit is a little weird. I just don’t feel they’re flattering through the thighs and hips. Maybe it’s the color? They’re cute tho! I am wearing a size 6, for reference. I also bought the 8 to try, and they’re definitely too big, so I recommend sizing down if you’re in between.

Universal Thread Freeborn Denim Jacket // This is a great closet basic at a great price. I bought the medium, but I think I would prefer the small.

also wearing: Veja Esplar Sneakers

This is another sweater that I can’t find online, and it’s a shame because it’s so cute. I love the cut, the knit pattern, the slightly rolled neckline and cuffs… adorable! And the color is perfect for spring. It also comes in ivory and a few other colors. My 13-year-old actually got one in the ivory. For size reference, I’m wearing the medium.

3×1 Women’s W3 Straight Authentic Crop Jeans // Okay, so here are the premium denim I mentioned, and they are pricey, but I was curious about this brand, so I ordered them. I’d still like to find some slim straight cropped jeans I like going into spring, and I like how these read almost as a skinny — well, on the model anyway! I could see how my eye might start to adjust to this style — it’s really just a looser fit skinny jean. It helps that they taper a bit towards the ankle. I didn’t keep these this time, but I’m going to remember them. I’d love to find them on sale at some point.

SHASHI Women’s Warrior Double Pendant Necklace // I also picked this up on a whim; it’s really cute on crewneck sweaters. I like the length. It isn’t adjustable at all, doesn’t even have a clasp so you can’t use an extender, so you have to like this mid-length (it’s 24.5″ long.) I kind of like it — not as long as the ones we’ve been wearing for the past few years, but not so short as to fit in a v-neckline either.

UGG Milo Sneakers

UGG Milo Sneakers

UGG Milo Sneakers // Just when you thought the sneaker reviews were over… bwahaha!!! I ordered these after they were recommended by a couple of you because they looked really cute, and I’m a huge fan of UGGs.

These are leather lined and have a lot of cushion in the footbed and some light arch support. They are VERY comfortable, and the styling is nice too. I like the metallic heel pop, but I’m not such a fan of the metal piece on the laces. The shape if the shoe is cute, but overall I prefer the more streamlined look of the Veja Esplar. These UGGs are definitely more comfortable out of the box, though.

To sum it up, if you like the styling, I highly recommend giving them a try.

Veja Esplar Sneakers, Black Logo // It was SO hard to find these in my size! I finally snagged them at Nordstrom, and now they’re all sold out. I had already decided on the Veja Esplars as my final choice for my fashion sneaker quest, but I thought I would like the black logo version better than the plain white (see below).

After trying them both on, I decided to stick with the plain white pair because the ones with the black logo seem more casual to me somehow. I think the white are more versatile and will look as good with sweaters and jeans as they do with sweatshirts and joggers.

Veja Esplar Sneakers, Extra White // Yes, the jury is back and the verdict is in. These are the keepers. Of all the sneakers I tried, they seem to be the best marriage of style and quality and price point. They aren’t as comfortable as some that I tried, but I hear they break in fairly quickly, and I’m already finding them more comfortable after wearing them around the house. I saw another blogger recommend not putting the laces in the last hole, and that helped a ton. I didn’t bring them with me to Maine because I knew it would be too cold for them up here this weekend, but I can’t wait to get home and start wearing them.

  1. Love those Veja sneakers! I read some reviews that say the tongue is long and stiff, do you find that to be true or have they softened up a bit (even though you just got them lol)?

    1. It is true, but I also heard so many people say they soften up. Then I saw the advice to not tie them in the last hole, and that really solved the issue for me. I’m hoping that once they loosen up some, I can put the laces into the last hole b/c they are a little loose now, but I wore them around the house for a few hours after I decided to keep them, and they were already feeling more comfortable. I think I’ll also wear no show socks with them the first time I wear them out and about, to make sure I don’t get blisters. These are the socks I like with my Converse — hoping they work well with these too: https://shopstyle.it/l/YI2y

      1. Thank you for your quick response! It was very helpful. I think I’ll give them a shot, once they come back in stock in the black-and-white color combination. Looks like you decided to keep yours! Congrats 🙂

    1. Yes, it’s a small. I love it. I know the style isn’t as flattering as more fitted shapes, and the crewneck is not my ideal, but there’s just something about the casual relaxed vibe it gives off that I love, and the quality is amazing. It is so luxe.

    2. I am sorry!!! It is a medium. I forgot… I do take a M in that brand, for some reason. Although I never tried a small and it’s a loose fit so… if that is the only size they have, I’d give it a try since returns are free.

  2. I really like the good, bad, and ugly version of your try on sessions! If you only showed the keepers it would take some of the fun out of “shopping”along with you 😀

  3. Great post this morning, Jo-Lynne. I like seeing the good, the bad, and the ugly. I think seeing what you go through to find clothing you like that fits well reminds us that it takes thought and spending time in front of a mirror saying “Oh, my. Just no.”. LOL. And as you said, what might be a miss for you, might be a hit for someone else. What size did you buy for the Target striped hoodie? I was wondering if I should go up a size. Looks like a cute top for running errands on Saturday mornings. Happy Saturday!

    1. It is perfect for that! I think I have the small, but I’m not at home so I can’t double check. I may have picked up the medium… I’m sorry! I thought I had all my sizing notes in the post before I left town. Maybe I can get one of my daughters to look at it for me. 🙂 I’ll see if anyone is up.

  4. I really enjoy these “try on haul” posts. When you show the “clear misses”, it really helps me understand what I should look for as far as fit when I try on clothes. For me, before following your blog, I did not always know what to look for. I also appreciate when you show more affordable options. Thanks!

  5. I like the good the bad and the ugly! I like to see how stuff fits since your shape is different than mine so I can find some cute stuff that works 🙂  Thanks for the variety of price points and styles!! I’m always hesitant to try amazon, but maybe it’s a good idea!

  6. I like seeing both the hits & misses.  My favorite above is the black turtleneck, jeans & GG sneakers but I totally understand not keeping those 🙂

  7. I also like seeing the good, the bad, and the ugly. I think it’s helpful. I really like the way those 3×1 jeans look, but since I just bought the AG jeans (at an amazing price), I will pass for now. They look like they’re a heavier denim. Are they? That’s one thing I’ve found with the few straight cropped jeans that I’ve tried, is that they tend to be a heavier denim, which I think just doesn’t look as flattering on me. I have a pair of Vigoss jeans that I got from Stitch Fix a couple of years ago, and I like them a lot. They are in my regular rotation. And I think if I was ever going to pay $500 (or close to it) for shoes, it would be for those GG sneakers. Love them! I’ve started a Prime Wardrobe list and the Ugg Milo sneakers have been added. 😉

  8. It really does help me when you show the misses and explain why it’s a miss and like you mentioned, the miss might work for someone else! I love these posts!

  9. Definitely…the good and the bad, though I’ve yet to see anything look ugly on you. We learn so much from your misses and your explanations of why they miss.

  10. Try on posts are so much fun! Please keep sharing the good, bad and ugly. This really helps me edit my wardrobe and has increased my understanding about how something can look fabulous on someone else when I can’t make it work at all for me.
Hope you are enjoying your weekend!

  11. You know, it’s probably a very good thing we are on a clothes buying freeze because there are numerous pieces you shared that I would be ordering.  I really don’t need any more clothes in my closet any way.  I really appreciate you showing so manynlower priced items!  And I like you showing the good, the bad, and the ugly because our body shapes, style preferences, etc., etc., are all different.  I’m so glad you had an uneventful flight to Maine and that your grandfather seems to be doing good.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  12. I like the top with the rolled neckline that you said you couldn’t find online. Did you say that’s from Target?

      1. Yep, I’m off to see if I can find this one….we’ll see. I’m in Texas so they may not have ordered it. But it is supposed to be “cold” tomorrow (high is in the 50s)….see why we don’t do many sweaters?

  13. Thanks for sharing all these outfits with us. I appreciate that you show the hits and misses to us. I have to say that I love you in the brighter colored sweaters rather than the lighter colored tops at the end. The bright colors just looked great on you. Enjoy your trip and visit with your Mom and Granpa.

  14. Showing us the hits & misses is my preference too! It’s helpful to see it all & read your thoughts on why you consider something a good fit or not. Plus, with Amazon fashion, there’s still quite a bit of guess work involved in knowing what sizes to try. I have ordered 2 of their Amazon Essentials sweaters this season & love them ($20!!). They are thin, but that’s more than ok for me because I’m in the South. Hope you have a great weekend with your mom & grandfather!

  15. Please keep including all of your comments/reviews on everything you try. I learn so much as to why something works or doesn’t work for you.

  16. Please share hits and misses! Love hearing what doesn’t work for you because you often say who a
piece would work for. I have the Target striped hoodie and love it!! You really are a bad influence for a girl with a stripe addiction😉. Love that Daily Ritual shirt! Also, I have the drink wine/pet dog saying on a wooden sign in our kitchen. Both favs of mine!

  17. Great Post!  Give it all to us-good bad and ugly . I know you like the higher end clothing but enjoy seeing more local stores for those days when I have the shopping bug and can’t get to a mall.
What’s your take on the Great American Good Legs brand? I have the 20$ pair up to the 200$ pair. If they fit me and I look good in them , I buy.  LOL
    Aa always, thanks for posts!

  18. I also purchased the Daily Ritual top after seeing on Kelly’s live last week.  I happen to be wearing it today and it’s perfect for a six hour car ride.
Thanks for sharing both your hits and your misses.  It’s helpful.
Enjoy every minute of your visit this weekend.

  19. As always, love these kind of posts!  And, I think it’s kind of fun to see the “bad” along with the “good”.  It has definitely helped me to understand what/why/how things look better on your body type than mine.  I’m currently an AYW student and am understanding why I need different styles than you in some items!  #shortwaistedpear

  20. Yes, please show clear misses too! A good example why…I’ve had that Amazon “cashmere” sweater in my cart for a couple weeks, but now I have a much better idea of how it would fit me after seeing it on you. I never know what to make of Amazon reviews and rarely trust them.
And, yay on finally narrowing down the sneaker winner! Those were my favorites on you from the beginning, and they look like they’ll be really versatile. My Milos will be here Tuesday, and I’m even more excited now after reading your thoughts on them. The metal piece wasn’t exactly something I liked about them, but it doesn’t seem like it’ll bother me either. I wonder if it can be removed from the laces? It’s hard to tell from pics.

  21. I love try on hauls! It’s great to see what others are finding, loving, hating😂 and buying. I’d love to see the misses too, but if you’re like me, you usually can’t get them off fast enough. HA! Enjoy your time with your family!

  22. I say bring on the good, the bad and the ugly.  There could be something you absolutely hate that someone else loves!  😊

Ok … that Blencot sweater dress?  I have no idea how that could be a dress – tunic yes – dress? no!  Lol.

I’m glad you got to see your grandfather while he is doing good.  Enjoy your time there!

    Blessings…

  23. I agree with the others: bring on the good, bad and the ugly! I have a similiar body shape to you so I learn from both the hits and the misses. You highlight my challenges with online shopping: the sizes are so inconsistent! Drives me batty. A large in a graphic tshirt but a small in sweaters? Oy yoy……we don’t get free shipping to Canada so I am reluctant to buy online because often its a headache and more expensive with shipping. Thanks for letting me vent!😂
Have a wonderful visit with your Mom and Grandpa. Safe travels home!

  24. Great post! And I’m with all the others….I like that you show us both the hits and the misses.  It’s good to see what works and if it doesn’t, it might work for someone else. I’ve put a freeze on any more sweaters for this season, but the striped sweatshirt has been calling to me since you showed it on Instagram.  I finally ordered it through your link just now.  😊  I haven’t found much at Target in recent years, but now that they have these new brands, I have had more success.  Yay for finding your sneakers!  They look good on you.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  25. I love when you try on a “haul” including the good, the bad, and the ugly. It’s like going shopping without leaving the house or having to waste time. Thanks!

  26. I always like to see the whole try-on haul — because I value your thoughts and recommendations. And you are right … not every body is similar and not everyone had the same likes and dislikes. I know that means its a lot of picture and content … but I look at it all and find it very helpful.

  27. Wow, you were busy. I like seeing “the good, the bad and the ugly” during your try-on sessions. It helps me get a better understanding of fit and style combinations. Thanks again for sharing.

  28. I really like the look of the Veja Esplar sneaks – you should buy BOTH pairs imo as you’d probably get good wear from both. I think I might try to find the ones with the black on the sides- I could use those as I already have 2 diff pairs of all white sneaks. Nordstrom is all sold out in my size ☹️
Just FYI – the past week I’ve really  been noticing (on purpose) the shoes women are wearing out and about. Seems like everyone is wearing sneakers with jeans/sweaters/tees & even blazers!  I love the look and I feel so comfortable too. Yesterday I wore my white Superga sneaks with gray skinny jeans and a white w/ thin navy stripes sweater 😍

Enjoy Maine- it really does look beautiful and peaceful!  I loved your pics on your insta stories. 💙
We are so enjoying our winter in So Cal right now – it’s 73 and the puppies are loving it & we’re drinking our coffee outside…..😇☀️#sorryeastcoast
I’m sure YOU are going to really enjoy your get-away to Arizona next month! It’s bern awhile since I’ve been out there but Sedona is such a wonderful place.

    1. Haha, I probably could get good wear out of both. But I think if I were going to keep 2 pairs, I’d keep the Greats and then the Veja with the black logo… just for variety’s sake. But I am going to stick with the white Vejas for now and see how much I wear them.

Your Superga outfit sounds super cute! Interesting that you’re noticing the fashion sneakers trending in real life. I think your area is ahead of mine. I don’t really see it here, at least not out where I am. I’ll pay attn when I go to the mall next time. I see more variety there b/c it’s closer to Philly.

  29. I love seeing the hit and misses! Looking for some skinny jeans so I’m going to try the Vigoss. Love some of the tops but I will say for me, the drop shoulder is not flattering. Makes me look like a linebacker! lol!!

  30. Great try-on! Thank you! You know, all the cool kids are wearing their sweaters over-sized now! I think the “too big sweater look” is very nice on you and a nice contrast with the skinny jeans! Fashion is weird, is it not? 🙂 I was in AEO a few days ago with my teen girls and it was chunky, oversized-sweater city! Maybe it’s just for the younger kids, though. 😉

  31. Thanks so much for this try-on haul – one of my favorite features!! To answer your question: “do you all want me to show the clear misses, or just the styles I vet and think some of you might like?” Yes, yes, please show the entire try-on haul with the good, the bad, and the ugly. That’s what we see when we’re in the fitting room ourselves, so it’s good to see your experiences. And I appreciate your honest comments. You can’t love everything.

  32. I really like the stripe shirt you started with and the striped hoodie from Target (I’m a sucker for stripes) and they’re great for transitioning. Plus that  sweater from target is so cute. I love the color. Thanks for showing some lower priced items. Have fun in Maine. If all goes well I’ll be there in April:)

  33. Wow – that was a lot!  LOL about the pizza; I’m the same way with Indian food.  Anyway.  I like seeing hits and misses.  Reading why you think something missed, and seeing it, helps me figure out why something might or might not work for me.  Loved the striped v-neck.  What’s up with a “OSFA” sweater?!  Just no.  Loved the 3X1 jeans on you (seriously), but not so much the Frame ones (had to laugh at myself though, was thinking about writing how great the blue sweater looked – just like the cashmere one from Nordstrom!  Heh).  I loved both the cream and black turtles – not sure if they look as good in real life as in the photo, but they look great.  I agree with going with the sneakers in all white.  If you’re still pining for the Golden Goose though (they are cute), look at Off Fifth.  Still pricey, but less expensive and they do have a decent selection.  I am a massive cheapskate, but sometimes it’s better to go ahead and splurge on the one thing you really want, instead of buying ten versions of the thing you almost want (says the person who used to do that all the time with lululemon workout stuff).  Have a great weekend!!

    1. I am thinking that those 3X1 jeans could be a good transition piece from skinnies to the cropped straight. I just wish they would go on sale. My AG jeans have a similar price tag, but I think I’ve bought all of them on sale. I keep meaning to look at the GG on Off Fifth for curiosity sake, but I still don’t think they really suit me. I think I can pull them off, and I’d probably get used to them if I wore them some, but I’m more comfortable with the Vejas. Of course, they’re different and both probably could have a place in my closet… but I’m also thinking about a new spring handbag. I’d rather spend that kind of $$ on that. 🙂

  34. Some cute things. Not a lot that stands out. I don’t say that in a mean way.  All the pieces you liked look great on you but a lot of basic type items, not special. Really like the Ugg sneakers and both Vejas. Also like the 3×1 jeans on you. A cute and somewhat different look!  Thanks for sharing!

    1. Yep, I feel the same. I didn’t get terribly excited about much — but I’m really loving that striped Target hoodie and the pink sweater. For some reason, I never think to shop for clothes at Target, but I really like those.

  35. Thank you again for doing all the hard work and finding the perfect fashion sneakers for me!! Love the choice you made and agree it fits with your style and aesthetic which lucky for me, matches mine:) Can I just say you are smokin hot in that grey sweater dress but totally get the too tight/too short but you pull it off well. Also, love how you styled those Golden Goose shoes but agree that overall they weren’t your style and you wouldn’t get the wear out of them for the price (which I think is crazy and would rather have a nice purse at that price point!!). Once again, thank you so much for doing so much of my clothes shopping for me.

    1. LOL, those grey dress pix were deceiving b/c of the camera angle. And of course I was sucking in my mom belly for all it’s worth. Ha! But I think if it were the next size up with tights (and the collar unbuttoned and folded down, lol) that it would be really cute on. I agree with the purse comment — and that is exactly what I was thinking when I was considering them. So many other places I’d rather put $500. But it was fun to try them. They are cute!

  36. I like when you show things that don’t necessarily work for you because they might work for myself or someone else. Plus it’s nice to know what you think of the fits and all that. ☺️

  37. Yes, I want to see the clear misses. I learn lots from that. I starting laughing as soon as I saw the golden goose. Photo memories!  You need to be practical and $500 sneakers aren’t in many of our budgets either. The gray dress with the challenging collar, wrong size but I love the dress. I still have lots of winter and could use it!  Too bad I don’t rally need it. oh Self control can be so hard!

    1. Yeah, I really can’t justify them — I would rather put that $500 (or the $380 that’s left, lol) towards a great pair of boots or a luxury handbag I would keep forever. But they were fun to try. I do see why they’re becoming such a hot trend.

  38. I agree with everyone else,  I like the good bad and ugly!  It’s real life!  And it’s a very good point that what doesn’t work for you (either bc it doesn’t fit/flatter or just isn’t your taste) might be a win for someone else!   However I think if there’s something you simply can’t recommend bc it’s bad quality or just really weird proportions that wouldn’t work on anybody,  I’m ok with you leaving it out.  Or at least a disclaimer that you don’t recommend it, like with that red sweater!
I really appreciate you focusing on budget friendly fashion!  It’s a great help for people on a fixed income,  or for specific items that just aren’t worth a splurge!   Keep the affordable fashion coming!

    1. Definitely! I do try to keep a healthy mix, but I know sometimes I get carried away with the pricey stuff b/c I love it so much. Haha! I’ll definitely try more Target fashion. I was impressed with what I found.

  39. Jo-Lynn,
I like when you show both the hits and misses!! I love that you let us know why you think they are one or the other. As you often say a miss on you may be a hit on someone else due to age or body shape. Please keep it real….that”s what we love about you!!!

  40. Hi Jolynne! I’m responding to your Real Talk question. I like it when you show the losers along with the winners! Your comments about why you DON’T like certain items brings style, fit, color, and fabric issues to my attention that I might otherwise overlook. I’ve learned so much about paying attention to the details from your blog. It’s helped me to realize it’s totally okay to try on ten things and only like one. Previously, I would get so discouraged from trying and trying! After two years of following your posts, I think I’m finally getting it Lol! So, thank you!

  41. Yes please continue to show the ones that don’t work.  I learn a lot from your analysis, and it’s actually kind of fun for me to guess if it’ll be a keeper or not before reading your comments.

  42. This is the second or third of your try-on posts I’ve seen. I personally like when you share everything, even things that didn’t work for you.

  43. I like the good, bad and ugly version. It shows us that you have things you don’t like either. Do you think the Good American jeans are worth the pricetag?

  44. Thank you for sharing. I would like all – the GOOD/BAD/UGLY – because you do such a wonderful job pointing out why items do not fit your body type that they could be just perfect for someone else.

  45. I like to see all the hits and misses, but don’t know if that works for your schedule or not. I love the sweater dresses, but wish they would make them a bit longer! 🙂
