Turning off the ‘Puter

I’m turning in early tonight.  The car is packed and ready to go.  We plan to get up at 3AM (yes, THREE) and set out to Maine.  We’ll be gone for two full weeks.  My grandfather has a summer home on a lake, and that will be our home base.  My parents are already there with my older kids, and my brother and his fiance will be coming for a long weekend while we’re there.  I have relatives to see and favorite haunts to visit and lots of lobtah to eat!  I. CAN’T. WAIT.

You won’t miss me too much because we’re bringing my husband’s trusty laptop, so I’ll be around.  Everyone always pokes fun at me for posting from vacation, but y’all — if you sent me away for two weeks without a computer, I’d consider that a severe form of punishment.  I’m pretty sure I’d wither away without my internet fix.  So I will be posting, just not as frequently.  And I have some fabulous guest posts lined up as well.

And with that, I’m shutting down.  Praying for good weather and safe travels.  Ta-ta for now!

** I’m a dork. I just got home from running errands and found that this posted already.  It was supposed to be in draft mode.  I think that’s what they call "user error".  Any-WHO.  The winners of the Bloggy Giveaway Carnival have been posted on the giveaway posts.  Congrats!

  1. Have fun! Send us lots of pictures! When I read the first paragraph, I though, “wow! She’s going computer free for TWO WHOLE WEEKS?” I’m glad you’re not thinking of doing anything crazy like that. 😉

  2. I am cracking up… I read this earlier and was totally thinking “Wait, but I thought she was running errands, and if Jo-Lynne is turning off the computer THIS early in the day… just, WOW.” So is the car really packed and ready to go, or was this just written in anticipation of that great event? 😉

  3. Ashleigh – It was TOTALLY written in anticipation! I was going to go back and edit the post after we were packed and ready. That was just a quick first draft. There were a couple of major typos. Which I fixed when I discovered it. And I figured I’d have stuff to add. WHICH I did. It was QUITE an eventful afternoon, and not necessarily in a good way. But we are NOW officially packed and ready. But I won’t be turning the ‘puter off until I go to bed, which is after I watch some What Not To Wear and check email and twitter one last time. 🙂

  4. We just went to Europe for 2 weeks and I thought I was going to just wither away to nothing without my computer to keep me warm and cozy — not to mention that we had to PAY a ridiculous amount to use the internet there. Needless to say, I didn’t post nearly as much as I had wanted to but I made it home without feeling too deprived.

Enjoy your vacation. I’ve never been to Maine. It sounds absolutely lovely.

  5. Have a blast. Your parents are the best for taking the older two in the car for a long drive. Wish I was in Maine.

  6. Have a good time. Glad you are having a good time with just one child. I really enjoy the times I get to have one by themselves. I think they really enjoy it too. Not so sure how much I would enjoy it if it meant leaving at 3 a.m. though.

  7. Hi friend, here’s hoping you have a wonderful time on your vacation…and looking at that photo I did have twangs of jealousy pop up…ooohhhh….how beautiful that is! Can he be my grandfather, too?!

  8. Have a great time!! I believe when I first started reading you a couple years ago you were on your Maine vacation. Oh the memories!! I can’t wait to see the pictures. They’re always my favorite!!
