Under Armour for Back-to-School

I’m so not ready for summer to end, but I can’t stop time, and the first day of school is fast approaching!

This will be the second year in a row that I have three kids in three different schools, each with different back-to-school needs. While their supply lists are all a bit different, one thing is the same: they all need new clothes, and quality activewear is a must.

D is headed back to college in a few weeks, where he will be a sophomore. He pretty much lives in activewear, and Under Armour has long been a go-to brand we can rely on to look good and perform well for him.

In fact, it’s a running joke among family and friends that you can find him wearing sweatpants on all but the hottest days.

Fortunately, these sportstyle joggers are made of a super soft knit that is moisture-wicking. They also have a handy internal phone pocket as well as a back left pocket and traditional hand pockets for keys and wallet.

For size reference, D is 5’11”, and he’s wearing the large. I also bought the medium for him to try and compare, and he said they both fit, but he liked the large better.

I also picked up a few of these HeatGear short sleeve shirts for him. I like the extra details and how they set it slightly above your typical tee; plus it has all the features an active guy needs — moisture-wicking fabric, breathable mesh panels, and anti-odor technology.

These shirts look great with both pants and shorts, and he will wear them all winter long layered under his sweatshirts.

We also got him a new pair of sneakers — these UA HOVR Rise trainers in the Royal / Halo Gray. His favorite color is blue, can you tell?

D wears his clothes all day at school and then straight to marching band practice or to play basketball with friends, so he needs clothing that really performs, and Under Armour never disappoints.

He has worn this entire outfit twice since we shot these pictures, so he obviously approves!

Finally, the Under Armour UA Hustle 4.0 Backpack is perfect for a college student because it has tons of compartments, including a soft-lined laptop sleeve that fits his 15″ Lenovo Yoga 730 perfectly.

C will be a junior in high school this year, and she’s enrolled in a cyber charter school that enables her to attend class from home.

While she favors jeans and dresses, she needs activewear for gym class, and she does a lot of walking in the neighborhood. She styled her entire outfit around these coral UA HOVR Infinite Mojave running shoes. #achildaftermyownheart

I may have to borrow them or get a pair of my own because I think they’re super cute, plus they’re designed for neutral runners who need flexibility, cushioning & versatility. Hi, that’s me!

C is more likely to wear them to walk the dog (or to look pretty while doing schoolwork on the deck) but they’re also a supportive and stylish sneaker for anyone looking for a neutral running shoe.

She also picked out running shorts and a racer back tank top. These shorts have a 3″ inseam, anti-odor technology, and convenient side pockets.

I particularly like the flattering curved hem and the anti-pill/anti-pick finish.

And this HeatGear Armour Racer is great for the gym, yoga, or whatever your activity of choice.

The pinhole mesh makes it breathable without sacrificing modesty, and the close fit is flattering. C is wearing her usual XS, but you could size up for a more relaxed fit.

R is my middle-schooler, and she’s a huge fan of activewear for everyday use. Plus, she always wears athletic clothing on gym days and to marching band practice.

She is in love with this hooded sweatshirt and told me she hated to take it off because it’s so soft inside.

The colorblock sleeve panels are a fun detail, and it has a kangaroo pocket and a relaxed fit that’s perfect for layering.

I was a little surprised when she picked out these Armour Shine Ankle Crop leggings, but I’m glad she did because I think they’re really cute on her. I like the different panels and the cropped fit.

For size reference, R is about 5’5″ and she’s wearing the XS in both the sweatshirt and leggings.

Her sneakers are the HOVR Sonic 2 running shoes, and she was really pleased with their comfort as well as the style.

She likes her sneakers fairly plain and tends to go with black and white so they go with everything, and she’s really happy with these.

But Under Armour does more than just clothes and shoes — they also have a nice selection of backpacks and lunchboxes this year.

This lunchbox is manufactured by Thermos, and it has a sturdy Flex-A-Guard liner as well as foam insulation to keep hot foods hot and cold foods cold.

Plus the exterior zipper pocket and interior mesh pocket provide extra storage and organization. The side clip makes it easy to attach to a backpack, and the color choices are really fun.

R also picked out a Hustle 4.0 Backpack, and she likes how it expands to hold all of her large binders. Plus she always carries a water bottle to school, and it has two side pockets that are perfect for that.

Thanks to Under Armour, we have a good headstart on our back-to-school shopping, and I have some nice pictures of all three kids all pretending to like each other.

Since they’re never together anymore on the first day of school (even though, ironically, all three of their schools start on the same day) you may be seeing this picture again on my Instagram in a few weeks!

  1. What a fun post. While I no longer have children to dress for school, I have grandchildren! Those who attend wear uniforms (thank goodness) but now that they’re older, they need clothing for activities like soccer and swim team. And my oldest grandson who is about to turn 9 just made a travel ball team. Under Armour consistently makes great clothing for adults and children.I was planning to order the 9-yr-old a new hoodie, but I might get him a pair of sweatpants, too. Thanks for sharing on this beautiful Monday morning, Jo-Lynne.

  2. These clothes are really nice.  I’ll have to remember Under Armor for myself!  Your kids are growing up so fast and they are all really nice looking!

  3. What a fun post!  Isn’t it funny how siblings act like they don’t really like each other, but when it comes down to it, they will have each other’s back.  David is very handsome, and I love the blue that he likes.  Caroline and a Becca are really cute teens!  Caroline looks like a natural in front of the camera.  I would have never thought that she would have gym class in a cyber school.  That’s the one class I always hated.  Enjoy the last couple of weeks with all of the kids at home.  And enjoy your appointment free day.

  4. Great post! I like seeing options for other members of the family. Let’s face it, we don’t always shop for ourselves. Of my two boys, (both in college) one practically lives in sweats and shorts. The other is a little more adventurous and also likes jeans. Good luck with school starting soon! This was my first year in forever with nobody starting K-12 school and boy it is weird! (School started last week here;)

  5. What a fun post! Thank you for sharing your beautiful family with us and these ideas for teens. Best wishes for a fabulous school year for all three!

  6. My boys live in activewear as well. We love Under Armour for football and outdoor soccer, as the cold gear comes in pretty handy in our Canadian climate! 🙂 Love the picture of your kids together, it is a reminder that we need to get some updated family pictures this year.

  7. Love this post!  So fun to see your kids all together.  They picked out some great Under Armour outfits!  Hoping they all have a great school year.  Enjoy your day!

  8. My husband only wears Under Armour tees and golf shirts. They breath better than any other sport shirt and are cooler. No wet pits,! 😑

I don’t have any children at home but I remember the first day of school pictures. As they got older, it was harder to coral them for a picture. A lot of “Oh Mom!”

  9. Love the post Jolynne! Under Armour has always been our Go To also. Although my Son is in his 40s he will always say if you get me anything make it Under Armour. He always knows it’s Under Armour when he gets a gift or if just buy him something. All three if my Granddaughters love it and my 4 and 7 year olds always ask. My 7 year old does wear the shirts and shoes. They are so smart looking. You have a Great Day and thanks for the post.

  10. Great post! Our family loves Under Armour. My husband lives in their gear.
Super helpful to find all this stuff in one place. I love one stop shopping experiences 😊

  11. What a fun post!  It’s great to see styles on the teens of all ages.  I have teens to buy for and it’s helpful to see the clothing on real young people instead of just the online pics.

Good whole family effort on this post!!

  12. what a great post getting to have your kids model for you, I am going to look into some Under Armor clothes for myself.

  13. This was a great post! I have twin 15 year old boys and all they wear is sportswear. Under Armour is one of their favorites. This was very helpful! Thank you so much!

  14. How fun that your kiddos shared their favorites with us. I have a tall son like your David, and finding pants is always our struggle. We will give the UA a try. Thanks for sharing!

  15. What a fun post! Your kids look great and I love their clothes. My son – also a Sophomore this year typically wears sweatpants and did not own a pair of jeans until this past spring. He requested to go shopping for jeans one time we were visiting him at school so he got a pair at Old Navy. They looked so funny on him! He likes them but still, it’s mostly sweatpants and athletic shorts. Also, don’t you think it’s funny that boys have these big baggy pants and girls wear skin tight stretchy jeans? Thanks for sharing your kids with us!
