Update From the Air

Well, I do believe we’re going to make it.

I’ve posted updates on our situation on Instagram and Facebook, but I know not everyone sees those, and I don’t post the same thing everywhere so I thought I’d update the blog while I have a few hours to kill on the plane.

Yes, we are on our way home.

I’m using my iPad so the process is a bit clunky. Forgive me for keeping it short and sweet.

In a nutshell, we are extremely grateful that no one else got sick, and my son has improved enough to travel home today. While we had some enjoyable moments and loved the resort and the Scottsdale area, it’s been an incredibly stressful and disappointing experience. It’s hard to believe all those months of excitement and planning ended up like this.

We tried to make the most of it, and I know that we have much to be thankful for, but right now we can’t wait to be home.

Thanks for all of your prayers and encouragement. It means so much.

  1. What a bummer! I’m so sorry. Glad your son is on the mend, though, and no one else got sick. Perhaps you’ll look back on this and laugh (?) one day. Maybe not. But you’ll sure remember this one.

    1. Yeah…. I’m not quite ready to laugh at this one. But I also know that this kind of thing happens and we can only make the best of it and be thankful it wasn’t worse. It is soooo good to be home.

  2. I’m so sorry your time here in AZ wasn’t exactly what you had planned. But at least the weather was good. 🙂 Glad you are back home safe and sound and your son is feeling better!

  3. Happy to hear that you all made it back safe and sound. It was so nice to meet you in AZ…sorry it wasn’t a better trip for your fam! Our daughter caught a head cold that just seemed to worsen each day, so while we were planning on staying in Sedona 2 nights before heading straight to the airport the final morning, we ended up only staying one night in Sedona. This led to the dreaded 3rd hotel of the trip and a 3 1/2 hour drive from the Grand Canyon straight back to Phoenix. However, all in all, it was a wise decision as opposed to waking a semi-ill child at 4 AM for a drive back to the airport. We had a daytime drive to see the scenery and didn’t have to worry about missing our flight due to traffic, etc. The best laid plans always seem to change don’t they…..and us moms are the ones who end up juggling. 🙂 I was amazed at how clean everything looked while in AZ…even the drive to Sedona and the G.C. When we got back home, everything just seemed so dingy and dark! However, in the 5 days we were gone the grass has come in, daffodils have bloomed and all the trees are budding. Spring has sprung!

    1. I’m so sorry that your daughter got sick. No fun. It has been dingy and dark here too. Quite depressing. But that’s spring in the Northeast for ya! LOL.

Paul and I said the same thing about how clean everything seemed. We keep trying to figure out how we can move out there. Ha! It was so much fun to meet you. 🙂
