Snow Day Style #FashionFriday

So maybe “style” and “snow day” don’t really go together, but work with me here.

This winter has been one for the record books. It seems like it hasn’t stopped snowing since Halloween. This last storm was more ice than snow and it has paralyzed our region. Last I heard, 86% of my county was without electricity. We are some of the lucky ones. We were only without power for about 12 hours, and that was 10pm – 10am so we were sleeping for most of it. But many (most) of my friends are without power going on 48 hours and it is taking its toll. Not only are the kids going stir crazy, but it is cold here, yo!

As for me, I’m not complaining. I’m one of those annoying people who truly loves the snow! I took this picture out my car window the other day. Isn’t it breathtaking??

But snow days are definitely not conducive to high style.

I prefer to sit inside and watch the snow, and there’s really no need for high heels and fitted blazers when your at home baking and playing games by the fireplace. What you DO need is some cozy, stylish loungewear. Here is my version of cozy snow day style at two different price points.

Snow Day Style

INDULGENT: I have heard FABULOUS THINGS about the Chic Lite Wrap (Nordstrom, $90). Wear that over a long tank such as the James Perse Long Jersey Tank (Nordstrom, $50) or the Eileen Fisher Long U-Neck Organic Linen Tank (Nordstrom, $59) with the HUE Ultra Wide Waistband Leggings (Nordstrom, $36). Then pull on your Cardy Classic Knit Boots (Zappos, $160) and you will be the epitome of cozy chic!

BUDGET: Merona Layering Jacket (Target, $24.99) or the Jennifer Lopez Lurex Open-Front Cardigan over the Mossimo Long & Lean Tank (Target, $9) with Simply Vera Vera Wang Solid Leggings (Kohl’s, $19.50) and the Myra Short Boot (Payless, $40).

Both looks combine my favorite winter clothing pieces: leggings, tank, drapey sweater and cozy boots. You can’t go wrong!

How about you? How do you do Snow Day Style???

  1. Gad you finally got your power back. Even though we had quiet a few inches, our power stayed on- thankfully. My snow day style definitely involves a wrap and comfortable/warm boots.

  2. You can buy those boots at Payless? Oh you are so awesome. I love your budget recommendations, thanks so much. We are going shopping at the mall tomorrow, and there just happens to be a Payless there. Yeah!

    Have a great weekend!

  3. Nothing to keep me warm like my onesie 🙂 Here in England though we’re getting lots and LOTS of rain (so a great excuse to splurge on some Hunter wellies!), but no sign of any snow yet surprisingly! Love your suggested outfit, very cosy – and more stylish than my onesie!

  4. Love snow days, but, we don’t get that many here on the west coast. Our days our mostly “rain days”. But, saying that today we are expecting a few flurries. The only thing about snow days is that now that my kids are driving and need to get to there jobs and schools… I’m terrified because they lack the experience in driving yet they are out there in it sometimes. This makes such a huge difference! If everyone is home safe and sound I’m great with the snow! My style… anything warm and cozy!
