Weekend Sale Roundup

Happy Saturday, friends. I debated sharing more fall outfit inspo from the #NSale today; I actually have that post partially put together already. But I’m sensing a weariness of all things #NSale, or maybe that’s just me…

So anyway, I thought I’d go back to a more traditional weekend sale roundup. I singled out my top recommendations for each retailer, and I pulled up pictures of things I’ve worn that are on sale.

And for those who are NOT over the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale just yet, I also put together a shopping widget with my #NSale faves that are still in stock.

Best Weekend Sales

I actually do this in my weekly newsletter that goes out every Saturday, so if you like this portion of today’s post, be sure you’re signed up to receive my weekly digest email.

ANN TAYLOR //Extra 65% off sale styles, 60% off full-price dresses, and 50% off full-price pants and denim.

GAP // 50% off shorts with code SHORTS, 40% off the rest of your purchase with code SOGOOD.

J.CREW // Extra 70% off sale items, and 25% off select full-price items with code EPIC.

LOFT //40% off your purchase with code LOVEIT, or 50% off your purchase when you use your ALL Rewards credit.

NORDSTROM // The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is live to all cardholders, and their clearance sale section has some great finds too. See all my #NSale Coverage HERE.

Here are my top picks from the summer clearance section. I rounded up my #NSale picks still in stock in a separate section below.

OLD NAVY // 50% off rockstar jeans with code FAVE, 30% off your order, no code needed.

SEPHORA // Take $15 off your purchase of $75, or take $20 off your purchase of $100 with code WELCOMEBACK. (Must be an Insider; it’s free to join.)

SOMA // All bras are $29, and you get a free panty.

I recommend the bras in the Vanishing 360 collection — they all have seamless edges, wider back straps, and front-adjustable straps for a smooth appearance all over.

I’m also a huge fan of their Vanishing edge panties — they’re designed to completely disappear under clothing and stay in place.

TALBOTS // 30% off all T by Talbots, plus select summer tees are $9.99+, shorts $14.99+, and dresses $29.99+.

VICTORIA EMERSON // Get up to 45% off during the Summer Sale.

Also, I finally got the leather Vince boots in the mail, and now I have a decision to make. Here are the leather…

And the suede.

Both are gorgeous and so comfortable, but I wonder if the leather looks plasticky. It doesn’t at all when you get up close, but I think because rain boots are often made in this Chelsea boot style, they can almost come across that way at first glance.

That said, I’m sure the leather will be more durable. Even though the suede is weather resistant, I’m not sure I’ll want to wear them out in messy conditions.

I could keep going, but I think that hits the highlights! If you’re looking for anything in particular, let me know in the comments, and I’ll see if I can help.

  1. Thanks for this post….there are so many items I like!  I prefer the leather boots over the suede ones, particularly if you are wanting something to wear in all winter weather.  I love suede too but I also have multiple leather options to cover all bad weather.

  2. Lots of good sales!  While I like the look of the suede booties better, it sounds like you would get more wear out of the leather ones.  Decisions, decisions, decisions!

  3. On the Vince Boots,,,,Suede,,,hands down the best. The leather looks cheap and more like a rain boot. Also can you share a link for the camisole that you are wearing under the Nordstrom Signature Cashmere Cardigan in Beige Humus Heather. It goes perfect with that color cardigan and would look good with black pants for office wear.

  4. Hi Jolynne,   Your NSale updates have been great!  Question about the Sam Edelman Moto lambskin jacket you show today in the luggage brown.  I’m thinking of getting both colors (surprised it’s still in stock).  Would you say TTS?   I’m between xs and s for tops, but usually always s in jackets (blank nyc jackets are all small for me).  Stay true to jacket size?  Thanks!

  5. I tried the Chelsea28 V-neck sweater on in the store and was surprised how much I liked it considering the fact that it is not made from natural fibers. It’s listed as over-sized and it definitely is. I often wear a Lg in a sweater and I ended up bringing home a S. I liked it so much, I ordered one in black. I am trying not to buy the same item in different colors, but I liked it that much.

  6. I love anything Vince, and the black leather Vince Henderson boots were my No. 1 “must have” purchase from the NSale. I placed an expedited online order just to make sure I would receive them quickly!  (I was concerned that they would sell out.)
Later that day, I found the black suede version in store (my store didn’t carry the leather version).  The suede was absolutely gorgeous, so I purchased them too, figuring I would decide between the leather and suede once the leather boots arrived.
My “must have” leather boots arrived, but I have to say, I was underwhelmed. The leather is high quality, but for some reason, the boots look a little cheap, which is very unusual for Vince.  Jo-Lynne, you stated that they have a “plasticky” look to them, and I would have to agree. I wanted to love them, but something is off.  Sadly, I will be returning them.
I’m so glad I grabbed the black suede boots while I was in the store!  They’re beautiful, and since Vince suede is weather resistant, I think they’ll handle most weather conditions. If it snows, I’ll pull out my snow boots!  😀

    1. I did the same. Ordered the leather first thing b/c it wasn’t in my store, found the suede in store and bought them just in case, and then now that the leather is here, I like the suede better.

  7. While I have enjoyed your NSale reviews I am disappointed about the way Nordstrom structured this sale.  I have been a cardholder for 25 years and in this time spent lots of money at Nordstrom’s but was penalized for not spending enough this past year.  Everything I wanted to purchase was sold out when it was my turn to shop and I don’t have the time to keep checking the website for pop backs & there is no Nordstrom where I live.  I no longer see any value having a Nordstrom credit card.  I apologize for venting as I know you don’t have any control but it’s very frustrating.

    1. I get your frustration and sympathize with how annoying it must be to see everything sell out while waiting to shop. I’m sure there will be lots of returns and restocks, once everyone gets their orders and makes up their minds on what to keep and what to send back, but I agree that doing this in tiers based on spending seems really unfair, especially as that is not how this sale used to work. Having the card used to get you access, no matter what your level of spending. But the last few years, they couldn’t handle the onslaught of sales the first day, so this way the computers have been better able to handle that. So I don’t know the answer. I’m glad I’m not the one in charge of figuring it out! 🙂

It’s frustrating to us bloggers too. I can’t make commissions on things that can’t be purchased, and I met with my photographer this week and shot a bunch of fall looks, only to find many of those items are now sold out. So yeah, complaining to us is like preaching to the choir. 🙂 I recommend calling customer service or filling out a survey and letting them know your thoughts on the way it was run this year and the value of the Nordstrom card. They are listening.

      1. Thanks so much for your reply.  As you suggested I have contacted Customer Service and filled out surveys letting Nordstrom know my feelings about how this sale has been structured.
