Well That’s Three Hours Of My Life I Can Never Recover

My son continues to struggle with these nasty stomach aches. We finally made an appointment with the pediatrician, and after sitting in his office for over an hour, going through the hoopla of getting an x-ray, and going back to the ped’s office to wait for results, we have discovered that there is absolutely no logical explanation for my son’s distress.

Joy.

I guess this is why they call it practicing medicine, eh?

So that took up the better part of my day.

In other news, is anyone watching Dancing with the Stars this season? It started last night, in case you didn’t know. If you’ve been around here for a while, you’ll know I got hooked on the show mid-season last year, after my rather dubious introduction by way of the first two results shows. It’s much better getting in on the ground level, I’ll say that. I enjoyed getting the background on the contestants and the dancers last night.

Last night was all about the men. And I have to say, it’s not looking like a very promising season as far as the male stars are concerned. I suppose they may improve, but I’m not holding my breath.

Tonight the women perform at the same time as American Idol is on. So the big question here is, which do I watch in real time, and which do I record on my DVR for my future enjoyment?

Such weighty decisions with which I struggle.

And also. I found out another blogger who is going to Disney! I can’t say just yet, as she hasn’t announced on her blog. But it’s so much fun to find out who else is going to be joining Steph and me!!

One of these days I might come up with an actual post. For now, I’m lucky to peck out a few coherent sentences about my daily grind. Thanks for bearing with me.

  1. Dh is a Dancing with the Stars fan. I have to say it doesn’t thrill me, and I cannot let my kids watch it at all! *yikes*

So, obviously, being an AI junkie, you’d know what I would pick! haha

  2. LOVE Dancing with the Stars. It is the only show the Princess and I both love to watch. Can’t wait to see how the girl’s do tonight. I am thinking Kristi Yamaguchi is going to be good, just she has some grace and the ability to follow a routine.

  3. I’ve never watched Dancing With the Stars. I say American Idol trumps it no matter what. You probably want to record Idol just so you can write the proper recap… just thinking in blogging terms, of course!

    Steph

  4. I used to be a HUGE DWS fan, but I think it’s gotten rather silly. It “jumped the shark” a season or so ago for me!

Drat! I didn’t get the call to go to Disney, so it’s not me! Can’t wait to hear all about it!

  5. I know! I decided to go with AI.

My daughter had the same kind of stomachaches. Her doctor had us try OTC Zantac and it has helped.

    Happy TV Watching!!

  6. Love, love, love DWTS! I’ve been hooked on it for awhile. It is always amazing to me how much some of these celebrities improve and of course I’m absolutely curious how the deaf star will dance when she can’t hear the music. Riveting television I tell ya!

  7. No dilemma about what to watch here, we were watching Its the Easter Beagle (Charlie Brown) when the two shows came on and now I am trying to catch up on AI.

  8. The hubs and I are all over DWTS! The dancing, the drama, the judges, the spray on bronzer–it’s ALL good. I was so excited to have the season start again. I agree the men have their work cut out for them, the women did a great job tonight. Too early to pick faves though, but perky Marissa stole a piece of my heart!!

  9. granted i’m a day late here, but in the future, i’d totally suggest DVR’ing AI and watching DWS.

because even though i am home and awake when AI is on, i cannot bring myself to watch it in real time – DVR’ing allows me to fast forward through the lousy performances and judge talk. lol.

  10. Glad to hear it’s actually nothing! Hope he gets feeling better. Don’t you just hate that, you get them all the way to the doctor and your torn between thinking “whew! It’s nothing!” and “Geez, can’t it just be something little so I don’t seem like a crazy mom?” Not that you’d want them to be sick, but you know what I mean?

I took my yougest in one time when she was about 8 months old because she’d been screaming inconsolably for about 2 hours and as soon as we got to the doctor’s she was fine. But, you’re already there, so what do you do? They checked her from top to bottom and couldn’t find a thing, which really was a relief. As they struggled to find something to put for the reason code for insurance, I just resolved myself to the fact that I had a very obstinate child…then mentally tried to prepare myself for the terrible twos!

  11. My daughter just got diagnosed with Celiac so of course I think everyone has it now. They can check with a simple blood test. You might want to check it out.

  12. I found your site via a link from the website: http://www.sosiouxme.com. Anyway, I highly recommend locating a good, board certified acupuncturist in your area for your son. My acupuncturist uses the Japanese style needles that are whisker-thin and do not hurt. My 7-year-old daughter gets acupuncture for her asthma and LOVES it! She’s on less medicine and her asthma numbers (Flow meter readings) are better thanks to acupuncture. If you find an acupuncturist anything like mine, you can pick his/her brain for tips on digestive issues. There may be foods that your son is allergic or sensitive to. You may wish to keep a symptom log to try to establish a pattern of his symptoms. In any event, I cannot recommend acupuncture highly enough for so many conditions. Gastrointestinal issues are very responsive to acupuncture. I have been getting regular acupuncture for 7 years now. Due to numerous chronic illnesses, I must see many specialists. My acupuncturist has helped me more than all my other docs put together. That’s no disrespect to my other docs. The beauty of Chinese Medicine is that the acupuncturist uses it to treat the whole person… not just a body part or organ/system. It’s awesome!!!

  13. Please please don’t mention too much about Disney. I was just getting rid of that last bit of green in my eyes…

    Seriously. ECSTATICALLY happy for you.
