WHAT a day.

Today was one of those days that I didn’t even have time to breathe, much less blog.  It went about like this:

Woke up at 0-dark-hundred to meet a friend at the gym.  (Last spring, I fell off the exercise wagon and got left eating dust.  I’ve missed my workouts and have been planning to start up again this fall so when a friend suggested meeting at the gym this morning at 7AM, I took her up on it.)

Walked the treadmill for 30 minutes and then did a round of weights.  (I’ll probably need crutches to get out of bed in the morning, but it sure did feel good at the time.)

Stopped into Target for the THIRD (yes, 3rd) time this week.  (I needed a bed rail because we had been planning to move the baby from a crib to a “big girl bed” today.  Yes, we are officially retiring the crib.  Yet another vestige of babyhood bites the dust.  It will be stored in our attic for our grandchildren.  I’m still trying to wrap my brain around THAT one.)

Came home, showered, and took girls to a birthday party.  Killed time downtown with the baby and my neighbor and her little one while older ones partied.  Meanwhile, Paul took down crib and removed top bunk from D’s bed.  Room looks twice as big now.

Back home, piled the fam in pickup truck; rode out to furniture outlet.  After much hemming and hawing, purchased a precious white twin-sized sleigh bed and matching chest of drawers and nightstand for baby R.

After much tying on of ropes and biting my fingernails as my new purchases were loaded in the back of the pickup, carefully drove home trying not to leave new furniture on the road behind us.

Unloaded furniture and set up R’s new room.  (Did I mention I was sore and tired from working out this morning?  Heaving 2-ton dresser up the stairs did not help.)

Neighbor Kim arrived for dinner; I cooked while Paul put bed together.

Ate.  Supervised children.  Loud, noisy, fun.

After dinner, Kim helped rearrange big girl’s bedroom to maximize space.  Paul declared her a genius.  THANKS, KIM!!

Ate dessert, said good-bye, sat down to blog.

My favorite part of the day: When tucking R into her new bed, she looked up at me and said, “I wub my new bed.”

  1. Your day sounds much like mine – run, run & run! Last week I put 350 miles on my car in 4 days just running my girls from one place to the next. I’m exhausted tonight :}

    Hugs!

  2. Lands three times to Tarjay! Woo Hoo. I need to go but I want to wait until their school stuff goes on sale. 🙂

    Gotta see pics of the big girl room. 🙂

  3. Remember when we took our crib down for the last time with thoughts of using it again for grandchildren…until we had a HUGE garage sale and I told my husband to dig it up and put it on the front yard and sold it for $25.00. He thought I had lost my mind when I told him we would get something newer for the grandchildren…and that they would probably find something wrong with our crib when the time came and we’d have to throw it away and get a new anyway, so we might as well get some money for it while we’re waiting…looking forward to seeing some pictures!

  4. Congrats on the “big girl bed”. We just moved our youngest son to his “big boy bed” last week. He justs loves it!! No more cribs in this house. We sold ours on Craigslist.
