Greetings, friends, and happy hump day! It’s time for another edition of What I Wore Lately. This is a roundup of my daily looks from the past week.
There’ve been a few “grace days” as of late, but I went ahead and took pictures anyway. Just trying to keep it real over here.
SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and 135 pounds, with a slight hourglass shape. Unless I say otherwise, I’m wearing a 6/28 in pants/jeans, a small in tops, a 6 in dresses/jumpsuits, and size 8 shoe.
WHAT I WORE LATELY
Speaking of grace days, last Wednesday was one of those. I threw on my running shorts and this old Zella tee for my morning walk, and then I wore that with my Birks until it was time to change into my swimsuit.

That afternoon, I hosted a friend and her daughter for a pool date, and I threw this casual tank dress on over my swimsuit.

The next day, I got showered and dressed to work from home. Because I was in the A/C all day, I could get away with a thin summer sweater.
This linen tie dye sweater is 50% off and selling fast. It’s true to size; I have the small. Nevermind the canine photo bomber in the background. Love her!

Friday was a dreary, rainy day, and I had to take one of my daughters to an appointment. I’m always chilly in the doctor’s office, plus it was rainy, so I went with jeans and another lightweight sweater.
This stripe sweater is FINALLY on sale and fully stocked. It’s TTS, or size up for a slouchier fit; I’m in the small. This sweater is super thin and lightweight, so you do need a cami or tank under. The one I have is part of the #NSale this year.
Also, I love Rag & Bone Cate skinnies, and this pair is a really good price. Sizes are pretty depleted, but you may get lucky. Otherwise, hold on because there’s a pair in a darker wash that’s part of the #NSale.

I spent most of the next day at home. My dad was here, and I eventually got in the pool, but this is what I wore before and after.

On Sunday, I wore this swing dress to church. I tried a few different combinations of sandals and jewelry before landing on what now seems like the most obvious choice.
I first tried this charm necklace and my gold Steve Madden slides.
That certainly works, but I wanted to see what it would look like with these brown toe ring sandals. I also decided to try this Kendra Scott layer necklace instead of the pendant.
I like brown with navy, but these sandals were more casual than what I wanted for church. Incidentally, they’re on sale and a really good price for leather sandals. They have a padded footbed, and I find them very comfortable.
I switched into my Miller sandals in Makeup for more of a cohesive look on the bottom, and definitely like these best. The brown, and even the gold break up the line of the leg, but the skin color sandals elongate the leg and leave the focus on the dress.
However, the necklace was too short and close to the neckline for my liking, so I went looking for something longer. I wanted to wear my new Kendra Scott station necklace, but I couldn’t find it. (Happily, it was located last night!)
Fortunately, I also have this one from LOFT, and it works. (It has since sold out, so I can’t link it. Sorry!)
I think this looks much better. It helps draw the eye down and in towards the waist, and it just elongates the entire look and fills the large expanse of navy blue.
I tried to get a close-up of these earrings. They’re Kendra Scott too, and I really like them. This bracelet set is also from LOFT, and my ring is Lagos.
I really like the final look. The first one was fine too, but I think this combination of jewelry along with the skin-colored sandals complement the simple dress in the best possible way.

That brings us to Monday, and I had a workout in the morning and PT in the afternoon, so I just put this on and kept it on all day. (I wore sneakers to work out, obviously.)

And this was yesterday. I don’t think I left the house all day, but I was hot and sweaty from an early morning walk/run, so I showered and did the whole hair & makeup thing.
Because I was at home, I could get away with jeans. I sort of forget about these Levi’s, but they’re really comfortable, and I like the raw hem and ripped knee for casual looks.
I noticed that they’re on sale, so I threw them on so I could give you a heads-up! The best price is at Shopbop, but there are more sizes at Levis.com. FYI, Levi’s run small; I have the size 29.
The striped dolman top I’m wearing here is from LOFT, and these are another pair of Marc Fisher studded sandals.
I bought these back in the springtime, and I tend to forget about them, but they’re very comfortable and the styling is super cute. They run true to size, and they’re 30% off at Zappo’s.

Jo-Lynne. My condolences on the passing of your grandfather. Death is hard to bare but even worse with COVID-19. I know you would want to be with your family at this time and would be there if it wasn’t for this virus. My father just passed away and we are in the process of quarantining my mom (they live in Florida) so we can have a small family funeral here back in western New York. It is so, so difficult. My prayers to you and your family.

Jo-Lynn, I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of your grandfather. What an amazing life he lived and I’m sure you will miss him. I always loved reading your stories about him. I know your decision regarding attending his funeral was not easy, but I think you made the wise choice. We have close family friends that came together for the passing and funeral of their grandmother, and now every single one of them, down to the littlest child is suffering with Co-vid. One family member is hospitalized and receiving plasma. Know that you and your family are in my prayers today.

I just ordered the swing dress in navy for my sister. She is a teacher at a private school and they are going back to school at the previously scheduled time. In fact, it is looking like they may have more students than last year. Many parents just can’t do online or possibly delayed school and pediatricians are supportive of school opening at least in her city. She has orientation next week to prepare and implement the plans for social distance, intensive cleaning, masks etc. that will be required.
My deepest condolences. May your memories of him fill you with love during this difficult time. It is even more difficult due to Covid and not being able to travel to be with your family.

I’m so sorry for your loss, Jo-Lynne. It’s so hard to lose a family member. It’s as if we lose a bit of ourselves. But I take comfort in the thought that we’ll always carry a bit of them inside us. It must have been so hard to decide whether or not to attend the funeral. I think you made a wise decision. My condolences to you and your entire family.

I understand your feelings of wishing you could attend his service, but not wanting to take that chance. There have been a few super spreader events related to funerals here too in Canada. As if grieving isn’t enough, now the stress of contracting COVD. You can’t go to funeral without hugging or touching each other for support. Perhaps you and your immediate family can spend some time reminiscing about your Grandpa, sharing stories and memories. You are certainly blessed to have your grandfather for 48 years! Wow, that’s incredible. So much to learn from our elders. My last grandparent passed when I was 14 and then a parent 5 years later. I cherish the wisdom they shared with me. I’m sure you do the same. God bless.

My sincerest condolences on the passing of your grandfather. I know it was difficult for you to make the decision to not attend the funeral, but please know it was the right one. Funerals are for the living, and you will be able to get together with your family at some point and have a celebration of your grandfather’s life. My husband passed away 3 1/2 years ago after a 3 year battle with cancer. Even though we knew he was dying, the actual funeral was a blur. It is really in the days and months after,. that support is needed. You will all be able to be there for each other – even if it’s a phone call or FaceTime until we have a better handle on the COVID situation.
I so enjoy checking in with you each day. Know that your honesty about everything from diet and clothing to kids, family, work, and furniture is refreshing.

I’m so sorry about your grandfather. It’s always hard to lose someone we love, but the times we’re living in make it so much harder I think. Gathering with family can be such a comfort, grieving and reminiscing and laughing together, but definitely wiser not to.

Wow!!! A 103. I’m so sorry for the lose of your grandfather. I can tell he was a wonderful man by the way you’ve talked about him over the years and just now. No matter how long we’ve had with loved ones, its never easy to let them go, but I’m happy to hear he knew the LORD. Your family has had its share of difficulties during this Covid time for sure. Hi Jo-Lynne! First let me say how sorry I am that you lost your grandfather. How fortunate for you to have him in your life for 48 years! I list all of my grandparents by the time I was 17 and I so miss them.
Second, I’m interested in the Paige Hoxton jeans in the NSale. I did a search on your website and saw that you bought them in white in a size 30. Is that because they are white? And I know you’re thinner now, so what size would you buy now in a dark denim? I’m typically the same size as you. I’ve never bought Paige jeans before. Thank you!
Yes, I would order a 29 now. And I might also try a 28. I have a 28 in the Verdugo style. I think they’re pretty true to size, and 28 is my true size currently.

All these outfits are so cute. Right now my wardrobe consists of hospital gowns – I had my knee replacement surgery Thursday morning. I’m doing good, feeling pretty good & each day is a step forward. Literally!! I’ve had some pain, of course, but I did have my knee cut open & parts taken & new parts coming in.
