What I Wore Lately Vol. 34

Well, friends, we are halfway through another week! Today’s the day I usually share my daily outfits from the past week or two.

As I loaded my pictures into this post, I realized that a lot has happened in the past week, although my outfits are quite redundant. I guess that’s just how it goes sometimes. I’m either dressed to go somewhere fun, or I’m in loungewear. Anyway, here’s what I’ve got.

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and 135 pounds, with an hourglass shape. Unless I say otherwise, I’m wearing a 6/28 in pants/jeans, a small in tops, a 6 in dresses/jumpsuits, and size 8 shoe.

What I Wore Lately

Last Wednesday, you may recall, I was in Massachusetts with my daughter on a college visit. (She received her acceptance letter yesterday, by the way!)

It was unseasonably warm for November in Massachusetts, so I wore a short-sleeved tee and black jeans with a denim jacket on top and my favorite mules.

C took this picture for the ‘gram, so I’ll share it as well. This is an outfit I’ve worn many times before, so nothing new here, but at least it proves that I do wear my outfits more than once!

denim jacket // ATM cheetah tee (size M; similar for less) // Good American jeans (more sizes here) // Everlane mules (size 8.5) // Michael Kors crossbody // Yurman earrings // Lagos bracelets // Gucci sunnies // SLIP silk mask

The next day, I dressed comfy and cozy for our ride home. It cooled off a bit, and it was rainy for most of the way.

Zella hoodie // Splendid tee (size M) // Vuori joggers (also at Nordstrom; size M) // P448 sneaks // Lagos earrings // LV tote

I don’t have any pix from Friday. It was rainy and cold, and I was tired from my long drive home the day before. I was supposed to have a photo shoot, but we had to reschedule due to rain, so I worked all day in loungewear and no makeup.

On Saturday morning, the weather had cleared, and I was up and out early for that photo shoot. I came back home and did a bunch of try-ons, and then I threw on my grey jeans with this white Vince sweater and my P448s to run a few errands, but for some reason, I didn’t get a picture.

That night, I had plans to celebrate a friend’s 50th birthday, so I switched into a dressier sweater and my snake print pumps. I love the combination of neutrals in this look.

I added blingy earrings, but they’re old, and this is the only picture I got of them, and I was trying on a different sweater.

Unfortunately, the Naadam that I ended up wearing is no longer available. I snagged it on a clearance sale early last spring.

The color of the Halogen is really close to the color of one I ended up wearing, but I went with the Naadam because I liked the denser knit and the slightly darker shade of oatmeal.

I almost wore this plaid coat, but I felt like it was a bit much. It’s not quite cold enough for that yet.

I also tried the Vince faux fur, but again, it’s just a lot. I actually ended up returning this coat yesterday. As much as I love it, I don’t see myself wearing it. It just doesn’t suit my lifestyle — not at the moment, anyway. It does look amazing with these shoes, though, doesn’t it?

I decided to stick with my comfort zone, and I threw on my taupe suede moto to finish off the look. I took it off at the restaurant, though.

BlankNYC suede moto // Naadam sweater (last year; similar here) // Frame jeans // Sam Edelman pumps // YSL crossbody // old Stella & Dot chandelier earrings // station necklace

We stayed home on Sunday. I was still feeling tired, and after being out of town and out to dinner, I wanted to lay low for a bit, just in case I picked up anything along the way. I’ve been keeping it low-key this week.

I wore my cozy sherpa and leggings, but I did put on makeup and jewelry, just for the heck of it.

Abercrombie sherpa // Beyond Yoga leggings (size M) // UGG boots (size 9; also at Nordstrom) // Pandora necklace

And this is downright embarrassing. I can’t believe I’m posting this… or that I went out looking this way.

I had to run to the grocery store to pick up a couple things for dinner, so I threw on this quilted vest over my running clothes… I didn’t run far, and it was cold enough that I barely broke a sweat, so I didn’t bother to shower and change. I know, gross.

I snapped a picture b/c I actually liked how the vest made my running clothes look decent for going out… but I wish I’d at least taken time to re-do my ponytail and throw on some minimal makeup.

Zella performance t-shirt // Andrew Marc vest // old Lululemon running tights (like 10 years old, seriously!) // Saucony Guide

And that brings us to yesterday… This time, I did shower and wash my hair after running!

But I knew I wasn’t going anywhere, so instead of styling my hair, I threw it up in a pinch clip. Hey, at least it was clean!

I pulled on this super cozy fleece pullover with jeans because I was tired of living in leggings, but my ambition to get fully dressed ended there. I almost put on my P448 sneakers for the picture, but I decided to keep it real and just shoot the look in my slippers, since that’s what I wore the rest of the day.

Zella pullover // Good American jeans (more sizes here) // UGG slippers

And that’s all I’ve got to show for myself this week. It’s hard to get motivated to get dressed and made up when you aren’t going anywhere, but man, I sure feel better on the days that I do.

  1. Congratulations to Caroline!  Do you think she will look into other colleges?  I honestly appreciate you keeping it true and very real with showing us what you wear.  Larry would tell you that it’s not a beauty contest, so don’t feel like you always have to apply makeup.  I do love wearing my cozy tops when the temp stays below 60, which isn’t often enough for me.  Make it a great day!

    1. She says she’s not interested. If she doesn’t go through with this, she’ll probably do community college for a year or two until she figures out her major. And Larry is right. That is so funny, sounds like my dad. No one cares, really.

  2. We love you because you DO throw a vest over your running clothes and run an quick errand. No one recognized you behind your mask anyway.  More times than I care to admit I run to the grocery store after my gym workout. It’s on the travel path. I figure this guarantees me the Covid 6 ft of social distancing. Besides — I see other women wandering the aisles similarly attired. We are not alone ❤️

  3. I totally agree with what Kathy said on all fronts. I love that you keep it real and I’m guilty of going to the grocery store after I attend a workout class. I live in the country and the grocery store is a few blocks away from the gym so it makes sense. Congratulations to Caroline!
    Thanks, Jo-Lynne!

    1. Yeah, it’s funny. I don’t think twice on going on the way home from a workout, but something leaving the house like this seems wrong, lol. I don’t mind wearing workout clothes out and about, I just wish I’d taken some time to at least make my hair look a little more presentable. Maybe a swipe of mascara. 🙂

  4. Congratulations to your daughter! I have a senior and a freshman in college. Both remote (not by choice) this semester. Love the Zella pullover. I bought it in the camo and wear it all the time. And get compliments on it as well…warm and cozy! I have been enjoying your blog! Happy Hump Day!

    1. Ugh, my son is a junior and he’s also remote (not by choice.) It is so hard on these kids. They’re missing so much, but then I think that kids in other generations were going off to war at this age, and I realize they don’t have it so bad. I encouraged him to take next semester off since it’s already been decided it will be remote, but he wants to continue on.

  5. Way to go Caroline! Congratulations. Love all of your looks, warm and comfortable, but with style. I got the Talbots top you posted recently. Thank you for sharing!

  6. Give yourself some grace! ❤ I think so many of us are right there with ya! I felt amazing getting “dressed up” for a Dr. appointment last week & had to laugh at myself, because it was just a cute sweater & jeans! This too shall pass. We’ll eventually get back to the way things used to be…but honestly, for now I’m trying to enjoy these days of pure comfort! I love the outfit you wore to travel home in- that sweatshirt is so so cute!

  7. I love your “gross” grocery store outfit!  You’re right, the vest levels up the workout gear.  Case in point, I put a cute sweatshirt over my workout clothes and went straight from the gym to the grocery store this morning!

  8. I use to put make up on everyday no matter what I was or wasn’t doing. Covid has ruined me. I haven’t been wearing make up when home and I don’t feel as well but I’m sure it’s much better for my face.
I’m very tired of leggings but jeans just aren’t comfortable if home lounging. Good to see what you really wear. I’m finding the new things I’ve bought for going out and about aren’t getting worn. We just got put on new restrictions today for Oregon for 2 weeks. One county 4 weeks. They want us staying home basically. 😩 congrats to Caroline for her acceptance. That was fast. Does she plan to accept?
