What I Wore This Week

Hey guys, I hope your weekend is treating you well! I’ve got a few outfits to share with you, although to be honest, it’s been slim pickin’s this week. I spent a couple days in my workout clothes because I got busy and never changed. I almost skipped this post today and just lumped these pictures in with next week, but I’ll just use this shorter post as an opportunity to share some of what’s going on behind the scenes.

But first… here’s what I wore this week!

I haven’t had a chance to wear this outfit yet, but I shared this really cute 3/4 sleeve ruffle sleeve stripe top last Saturday on Instagram and Facebook. It’s from CS Gems, a new retailer that I’m working with.

The material is a really nice rayon blend — lightweight and soft and comfy — and the sleeves are super cute. It’s a little long so I did a front-tuck. I paired it with black jeans and added my leopard mules for a fun pattern mixing. In case you’re wondering, I would carry a black or cognac bag with this, or maybe even a red one!

Last Saturday night, Paul and I decided at the last minute to go out to our favorite local bar for their Happy Hour. I threw on this black sweater and jeans along with my new black suede sock booties and grabbed a red bag.

I’ve been experimenting with different types of higher shaft booties, and with the sock booties, I find I can wear my skinny jeans over top for a nice, sleek look. Mine sold out (I think I snagged the last pair!) but these are similar.

These are the Paige high rise jeans I recently purchased. I love them — SO comfortable. I hate that they’re almost sold out. The bag is super old; I found it the J.Crew Factory outlet several years ago.

It was starting to snow when we left the house, so I added my leather jacket and this cozy leopard scarf. I didn’t want to contend with a heavy coat in the bar area, and I knew I didn’t have far to walk since the restaurant we were going to has a small parking lot, so the leather jacket worked fine and I felt like it looked nicer than a coat.

I’m excited to discover this scarf is still available. I didn’t realize it was. I got it on sale a few months ago, and it’s back on sale now, but only if you buy 4+ items from J.Crew. It’s very thick and luxe and not super long, which I like.

This is what I wore to church on Sunday. You’ve seen variations of this outfit many times. I wore my favorite tunic sweater with black skinny jeans and black suede booties.

This tunic is a really nice fabric, and it’s light enough for those of you in colder climates to wear for a couple more months. They have some lighter colors that would be nice for spring.

As I said above, I’ve been experimenting with different types of higher shaft booties, and these have a wide shaft so I wore them over my black jeans. I tried to lighten up the shadows on this picture so you can see the booties and jeans, but it’s still not great. I need to do a real photo shoot with these booties, I guess!

I shared this outfit in yesterday’s post, but we had a couple of really mild spring-like days this week, and this is what I wore on Wednesday. This utility jacket is a really nice alternative to the more traditional style we see so much this time of year.

And that’s all I’ve got for outfits this week! I spent Thursday in workout gear. I came right home from my workout appointment and dove into an office organization project. My friend Darla came over and put her SORT and SUCCEED method into action, and we totally overhauled my office.

It was getting overwhelming in here, but in a matter of three hours…  okay so maybe it was closer to four… she had whipped this space into shape.

That ugly blue chair in the bottom right is finally going away. All it does is collect piles of clutter, so we also ordered a shelf for that wall, and I’m going to use it to display some of my favorite handbags, which I think will be fun, plus it will make them easy to grab and go when I’m walking out the door.

Darla is all about practical but pretty solutions that work for your habits and lifestyle. In the past few years, she has helped me overhaul my pantry, my kitchen, and my laundry room. Her new book lays out the method she uses. If you struggle with organization, I highly recommend it.

Yesterday was another chaotic day. I planned to get myself fixed up and go to the mall, but I ended up working all day and I didn’t even go running until almost 2PM. Once I showered and got dressed, it was too dark to get a decent picture, so I skipped it. Plus it’s just been rainy and icky for the past couple of days, and I wasn’t feeling terribly inspired.

All that to say, this week’s outfits were few, but hopefully I’ll have more to show you next week. We’re actually going to Nashville at the end of next week, so I’ll definitely be more on my game!

  1. The outfit with the striped top, black jeans and Leopard print mules is so Cute! Simple and up-to-date stylish…thanks for the GREAT idea!

  2. Thanks for the great dinner idea with the black sweater, jeans and leather jacket … we are going out tonight to our favorite spot and now my outfit is set !! Also,  I just received my BLANKNYC midnight toker jacket and I love it !!! I love your posts and how “real “ you keep your clothing …. thank you !!

  3. I like the new format!  It will take me just a little time to get used to it, but it works!  I have signed up for the CS Gems online store, & have put the black striped 3/4 sleeve top on my wish list.  I really like the outfit you wore for your and Paul’s spur of the moment night out.  And your office, looks great!  I drive Larry crazy with the way I like to have EVERYTHING organized.  In my mind everything has its place, and that’s where it needs to be when not in use.  That is one of the reasons this painting the whole interior of our home project is driving me crazy – the house is in chaos!  We are having a springlike pollen day, ahead of the rain and storms moving in tomorrow.  Have a blessed day!

    1. Oh so you’re one of those… haha! I love to be organized but don’t really have the ability to create workable solutions. Once someone shows me a good method, I can usually keep up with it. 🙂

      1. Yep, I’m one of those.  I love using baskets, containers, etc., for storing and organizing.  I even keep and repurpose the plastic bags that bedding comes in.  They work great for storing blankets, sleeping & throw pillows, and sheets in the linen closets or up in the attic.

  4. I like the new email format. I’m the person who asked about the round straw bag. Can you believe that it sold out (as of yesterday). I found one at Mango online. It’s a crossbody similar in every other way to the one you ordered. We will see.

  5. I love the new email format!  I look forward to your emails every morning and this is just more to enjoy.  And that striped top has been, and still is, calling my name!  I may have to answer!

  6. I love the new updated look. It will make it easier to find a past post and shop your favs.
I’ve been looking into jeans. It seems it’s getting harder to find skinnies or even straight leg that are not cropped. It’s not really a good look on me. I hope this is another passing trend.
Looking forward to your Spring series. I’m so ready to shed some layers.

  7. I bought the black and white striped top from CS Gems last Saturday and it already arrived. It’s a great top – love it! Thanks for the recommendation!

  8. I do get tons of emails, but yours are my favorite.  I really like the new format and ideas.  I think I’ll order that reversible dress from WHBM.  I’ve been looking at those for quite awhile.  I’m looking forward to the Spring series!

  9. Wow! Such a helpful post! I clicked the link to the laundry room organization post (don’t know how I missed the original post), and you’ve inspired me to redo my laundry room.  I especially love the fun elements.  Also, I ordered two tops from the CS Gems site.  It looks like a fun store.  I have trouble finding tops with details (doing the AYW course and now know that’s the style of top I need), and they had several different ones.  Great post! Enjoy your weekend!

  10. I’m curious how you can change purses so easily.  Do you keep all your stuff in zipper pouches?  I find it’s such a hassle that I hardly ever change.

  11. Love the new blog look! Also, maybe a discussion question for FB live or something but how do you switch out your purses all the time? I have a big zipper wallet and it doesn’t fit into some of my smaller cross body bags so I usually drag my coach tote everywhere which isn’t great for going somewhere at night. Help!
