Mom Style: What I Wore This Week 10.05.11

I’m linking up with the What I Wore Wednesday blog carnival again this week. Lindsey created this carnival as an accountability tool for stay-at-home/work-at-home moms, to encourage us to get out of our yoga pants and put ourselves together a little bit. Here’s what I came up with this week. It’s been CRAZY weather-wise. You’ll see what I mean!

WEDNESDAY: I threw this on and snapped a picture. Fortunately I uploaded it right away and took a look because I realized how very plain it is — not that I’m opposed to plain outfits, but with the challenge of this carnival, I decided to see if I could do better.

I went back upstairs and changed, and this is what I came back with. (I realized when I got to my room that I hadn’t even bothered to put on jewelry. Nice.)

What I wore Wednesday | after

I added a white lace-trimmed tank under the coral henley T-shirt (both from Old Navy) and I switched to these silver ballet flats. The brown ones I had on in the above picture, I threw on only because they were what was there when I went to take that photo. These silver ones are lighter and seem to suit the outfit better. I also put on my encircled earrings and matching necklace from Studio Jewel. See how a few simple changes make an outfit more interesting? (NOT that it’s particularly interesting, but still, an improvement for sure!)

FRIDAY: Another sticky day, not quite as warm though. I ended up putting a grey cardi on over this.

Gray striped tank from Nordstrom Rack, straight leg jeans from Bloomies, black ballet flats from Nine West and simple hoop earrings and silver bead bracelet. With my new Hobo Int’l Calistoga bag in charcoal (bought on sale at local shop).

SATURDAY: Sarah and I traveled to New Jersey on Saturday for a GLO event with local mom bloggers.

The weather finally turned, and I dug out my favorite boots from Nine West. They’re old, so I have no link, sorry! I wore my Joe’s flap-pocket bootcut jeans (again, old!) and this taupe cardi and embellished tank from Madewell. Here’s a picture of the Joe’s from behind (no, unfortunately that is NOT my derriere.) But aren’t they adorable? LOVE them. They are old, and I don’t wear bootcut jeans much anymore, but I can’t let go of these, I love them so much. The earrings are hard to see, but I love them, and I bought them for this outfit. They are Lucky Brand that I picked up at Macy’s.

TUESDAY: I wore this to have lunch with a friend at the mall.

This black sweater is from Nordstrom Rack, the cropped cords are Joe’s (I got them on a mega sale after Christmas last year) and the wedge pumps are from Aldo. I just happened to notice this necklace where it fell out of my jewelry box and was laying on the floor. I picked it up and decided to put it on for something different. It’s a cheapie from Target, but it’s nice for this time of year.

The suede bordeaux hobo bag is an oldie but goodie — I picked it up at the Coach Factory Outlet on a whim many years ago, and I like to pull it out in the fall. I thought it looked great with the necklace! I don’t know WHAT was up with my hair. It was not behaving yesterday. My cut is growing out, and it’s not going so well. Hmph.

Disclosure: both purchases from Nordstrom Rack were made with a gift card they sent me to try out their store. The Studio Jewel necklace was sent to me for review. Everything else I purchased myself. And there are affiliate links in this post.

  1. Love you’re outfits! The weather has been pretty crazy here the past few weeks, but now that it’s cooling down there so many great options for cute outfits to put together! Looking forward to next week’s What I Wore and now I’m thinking of linking up too! Thanks for sharing!

  2. Great outfits! You are inspiring me to mix and match things hanging in my closet that I have never thought about putting together. I look forward to your photos each week. Never heard of Joe’s; they look comfortable! Are there any jeans out there that are not low-rise? That’s all I can find.

I would prefer the humid weather than the cold, wind, and rain, 40s-50s everyday for over a week that we in the Lake Erie area have been suffering through. Thank goodness the sun is finally shining and the 70s are back!!

    1. All of my jeans are low-rise, pretty much. Paige Premium makes some slightly higher rises (they all claim to, but theirs are the best I’ve seen – I like their Hidden Hills cut. You can find Joe’s Jeans at Bloomies and Nordstrom and sometimes at off-price places like TJ Maxx and Marshalls.

  3. Adding the tank in the first outfit made a huge difference. Makes it look like you thought about what you were wearing rather than grabbing the first thing you saw. 😉

  4. Haven’t gotten into doing my on WIWW, but do love checking out your posts. Thought about you today when I went to my friend’s house for my very own CAbi show. (Her hostess had to cancel last week so I was able to go by her house to check things out on my own.) Got the faux wrap dress, the decco vest and twist neck tee… perfect for fall! Now I just need to find the perfect fall bag because my cheapie from Forever 21 is falling apart.
