Mom Style: What I Wore This Week 07.22.11

On Thursday we took our family on a historic tour of Philadelphia. The first thing I grabbed when I went to get dressed that morning was one of my typical jean shorts and tank top outfits. Then I thought better of it and grabbed my new CAbi Sigourney skirt. I wore it with my favorite black tank, and I brought my denim jacket along but didn’t end up wearing it. Comfy black Reefs were my footwear of choice, and I carried my coral handbag.

I enjoyed wearing something different, and I still felt casual and comfortable. Unfortunately I can’t figure out what to do with the waistband of the dress. There’s a lot of material to work with and I felt like it made my look thick through the middle, and let’s just say, I don’t need any help with that. I’m going to have to ask my consultant how to wear it so that it’s more flattering.

This is a casual outfit I wore around the house and to run errands yesterday. It’s nothing exciting, but it works.

I love white with denim, and the Charlize Teardrop Earrings are a fun pop of color.

  1. How adorable and I’m so proud that you tossed the shorts for the awesome CAbi skirt – it looks awesome!

  2. I love that skirt = I wondered when you bought the dress if you would wear it as a skirt and HOW. I have a dress similar to that from Athleta and I look thick around the middle too and it’s not my best look, however, I keep right on wearing cuz I feel really cute in it. Go figure. So any advice you get, please share. Please share. 😀 DId I mention PLEASE SHARE.

You even look smashing in a white tee. This gives the rest of us hope that people do not see us the way we see ourselves. WOOOPPP there’s hope for me! AHHAHA

    1. I wore it last night, pulled it down as far as I could so it was hanging to my ankles, and then pulled the fabric on top all the way up so over rib cage so the layers didn’t add extra bulk. It still makes me look kind of waistless, but not so much of a bulge. LOL.

  3. I really like your first outfit. Very pretty. I finally participated in WIWW for the first time. It’s a little uncomfortable for me, but you guys have inspired me and I’m been wanting to do a post of my own forever. Thanks for the inspiration!

    1. It’s definitely uncomfortable at first. Heck, I still think, WHAT THE HECK am I doing? LOL. But it’s fun too!!

  4. You are too hard on yourself! You look great. I esp like the Father’s Day outfit, and you’re not standing funny! Unless “funny” means, “wow Jo-Lynne looks so thin in those white jeans!” 🙂

  5. Love your long printed skirt, great for a touristy day since it’s comfy but a bit dressier. I have a skirt that has a fold down waistband and I haven’t worn it yet because of that extra fabric vs. tummy problem.

I think white and denim is classic. Never fails! (Unless you spill coffee or something :))

  6. Love that skirt! I love to wear skirts in the summer. White and denim looks so cute. I’m kind of partial to black and khaki, too.
You are so cute. And tummy problem?? pfsh. Not from my vantage point!

    1. You realize, of course, that I only post the flattering pictures? 😉 I’m really good at sucking my gut in when the camera is on. HA!

  7. I think all the outfits look great! Even and especially your casual outfit…cause that’s what I’m usually wearing!

I’ve got two great giveaways on my blog this week…you should check them out!

  8. I love the casual last outfit with fun earrings! Denim with a white tee is always great in my book!

    1. Are you sure? I’m only 5’5″. I like wearing it with those wedge flips. Gives me another inch or so.
