Mom Fashion | What I Wore This Week 04.27.11

Once again, I’m participating in the What I Wore Wednesday carnival with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy. The goal is to challenge ourselves to get out of our SAHM sweatpants uniforms and to put a little more effort into getting ready each day. (Or as Lindsay says, most days, ha.)

I’ll admit, I have a harder time getting motivated to dress nicely when it’s wet and dreary outside, but fortunately the sun finally broke through here in PA and Spring might have finally sprung. In fact, it feels more like summer at the moment. And you won’t hear ME complaining!!

At any rate, here are some of my outfits from this week.

WEDNESDAY:

I’m always most inspired on Wednesdays, so even though I had no where special to go except preschool drop off and pickup and running some last minute Easter errands, I put some effort into my outfit.

That’s the same gathered front cardigan from Target that I wore before, but this time I paired it with a violet tank rather than gray, and it made all the difference. It was actually kind of nice out on Wednesday so I dug out my favorite Joe’s Kickers and flips (Reef – Krystal Star). I threw on my trusty long necklace and grabbed my grey handbag and that was that!

THURSDAY:

Nice posture, jeez.

Another chilly, rainy day, if I recall, although I see I was wearing sunglasses so maybe it was just chilly? The jeans and black ballet flats are the same ones I wear often. Here’s a close up of the shoes. I picked them up on a whim at the Nine West store last spring, and I’ve worn them more than I ever thought I would.

The gray jacket is another spontaneous purchase — I got it at a LOFT blogging event last summer, and I haven’t worn it much, but it’s perfect for this finicky time of year.

I picked up this top at the Banana Republic outlets last week. I like the color and the flower detailing, and it’s easy to throw on with jeans or jean shorts.

I’m surprised at how often I find I’m wearing that Stella & Dot necklace. It fills in a neckline without competing with whatever else is going on. I get compliments every time I wear it. I guess because it’s different, people notice it.

FRIDAY: I have no idea what I wore Friday. It was a dreary day, the kids were home from school, and I went to get a facial.

SATURDAY: I went to the farmers’ market and spent the rest of the day inside preparing for Easter. I didn’t take a shower or even bother to wash my hair so needless to say, there is no picture. Hey, I do have SOME pride left.

SUNDAY: Easter Sunday!

I tried on three different outfits and settled on this one. The other two were dresses that are hanging in my closet that I’ve never worn before. One we agreed was too dressy and the other wasn’t very flattering. So I resorted to this old standby.

The skirt is from Boden, eons ago. The red top is from Banana Republic, a couple years ago. And the jacket, again, an oldie but goodie from the LOFT.

The shoes are by Stuart Weitzman, and I bought them on a mega sale at 6pm.com end of last summer season.

They are ridiculously comfortable for a heel that high. I could walk in them all day long. They are super versatile, and I wear them with everything from skirts to jeans. If I had to get rid of all but one pair of summer shoes, I’d keep these.

MONDAY:

Pardon the blurry. I don’t know what happened there.

As I said, the weather broke and it’s been in the 80s this week. So I broke out my denim skirt and sleeveless tops. This is that red top that I said looks better with skirts than pants because it’s shorter. So you can see here what I mean. The proportions are much better with this outfit than the one I showed before.

TUESDAY:

Another gorgeous day! I just wanted to be casual and comfy because I just had a couple of errands and otherwise I was at home.

The t-shirt is from the Gap outlet a year or two ago. The Joe’s Jeans Crinkle Cuff Bermuda are a newer purchase. I can already see I’m going to be getting a lot of wear out of them this summer. The sandals are the Frye Kayla T-Strap.

I got them because I wanted something cute but comfortable (and flat!) for BlogHer last summer. I find that I wear them often. They go with everything, they’re comfy and they have just enough bling to make them fun. I get a lot of compliments on them. The bag is Lucky Brand; I picked it up on sale last summer. I love it. It is casual and goes with everything.

And that’s a wrap!

  1. I love this idea to show what you wear. It would inspire me to go shopping, though 🙂

  2. I am not familiar with 6pm.com – I will have to check them out!

Love that sweet purple t-shirt, the color looks fab on you!

  3. Love the shoes in the last picture. I got some bermuda length denim shorts too. I like them, but the waistband tends to bunch up and look funny under shirts. Frustrating.

  4. I {heart} your Boden skirt. That thing is a wardrobe staple right there! And having the perfect denim skirt (as no shock you do) is just lovely.

Once again, so loving your looks and the details you share with us.

  5. Love your Boden skirt and the wedge sandals you wore with it. About that necklace – how cute! I need a “filler” necklace like that…

  6. Very cute outfits. I am in love with those shoes too- drool! You always have such a great fashion recap over here. I get so much inspiration from it!

      1. Question – do you double roll them? I want to get them really bad, love them but they look they have an unfinished hem that is thicker.

My Calvin Klein kickers you can’t change the roll, they are hemmed into place.
