Mom Fashion | What I Wore This Week 05.10.11

Another rainy Wednesday.

I had a meeting and I wanted to look nice so I put on my dark-wash, straight-leg jeans. I’ve been wearing them rolled up, and I really like the look. It’s a great way to take jeans from winter to spring. I topped them with an embellished T-shirt (LOFT outlet) and my trusty gray hooded sweater (Banana Republic) and I threw on the orange flats for color. Then I added the long chain link necklace and silver hoop earrings for fun.

I spent most of Thursday in my sweats, but then I put on this outfit to go to a JCrew blogging event that night.

The sweater and tank set are from LOFT. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but I wasn’t happy with it. I had to keep pulling at the sweater so it wouldn’t settle in the wrong places, and I was generally uncomfortable the whole night. I have a feeling that sweater will end up at Goodwill.

On Friday I had a Mother’s Day Tea at my daughter’s preschool — my last preschool Mother’s Day Tea EVER. I came home and sat down and cried. No joke. I love and adore the preschool years. I can’t believe they are over.

You’ve seen this outfit before, but I post it because it also contains MY NEW EPIPHANIE BAG! I ordered this months ago and it was backordered. How appropriate that it arrived the week of Mother’s Day!? We don’t really do Mother’s Day gifts, so I’m considering this Happy Mother’s Day to ME!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I dug out this necklace. It was always a favorite because it has each of my children’s names on it, but I tend to wear my newer ones. I got out my silver polishing cloth and cleaned it up and wore it, and my kids were thrilled. Unfortunately, I can’t for the life of me remember who made it for me.

Sunday was Mother’s Day and we went to church and then entertained family for lunch.

I wanted to be casual and comfortable and yet I knew there would be photos so I wanted the color palette to be fresh and springy. I chose my white cropped skinny jeans (Gap) and paired them with a green top (Banana Republic) that I’ve had for years. I threw on a jean jacket because it was a bit chilly in the morning. (I’m loving this jacket — I picked it up at the CAbi outlet last week, and the cropped styling is so versatile and flattering.)

I wore my snakeskin espadrilles for fun, but once I got to church, I realized I had nursery duty. D’oh. I ended up going barefoot most of the morning. The coral bag added a nice contrasting color to the green, and then I finished off the outfit with my new Stella & Dot Delicate Drop earrings and Chelsea necklace.

I was too busy Monday to take a picture, and you really don’t want to see what I wore most of the day on Tuesday. But last night, I went to a CAbi party. You’ll have to wait till my order comes in to see all the cute clothes! This year’s spring line is the best yet. There were so many pieces I wanted, but I stayed in budget, well, okay, almost. It’s hard to be good when everything is so cute!

  1. You look fabulous! And I just ordered my first Epiphanie bag as well! I finally got notice of it shipping a few days ago. I got the bigger one so I can fit my laptop and camera in the bag. But I LOVED that red one! It’s my other choice!

  2. Love the outfits ~ the bright colors are absolutely fabulous and make me think of citrusy stuff.

  3. Can’t wait to look up that Epiphanie bag. My husband gave me a Big Buddha bag last year for Mothers Day which I love and still get lots of compliments on it, but it’s white-ish and is starting to show signs of wear.

I bought the white CAbi jeans and the yellow poets blouse. Love, love, love them both!! The jeans are awesome with just the right amount of stretch. Can’t wait to see what you found!

  4. Okay, those orange flats from Wed are AWESOME (I love that they are truly orange not just coral – which is a fab color, but I just like the change). You’ve prob worn them before, but they just jumped out to me this time. And I think you look great in your outfit from Thurs that you wore to the blogging event! I really like it! Honestly, I thought that before I read what you wrote, so I’m not just trying to boost you up. ha. But I get that something can look good ONLY when it falls exactly right and the rest of the time it can be annoying and unflattering. That must be the case here, bc it looks great in this still shot. Maybe you can goodwill that shirt right on over to me if you don’t like it anymore. haha. 😉

  5. I love that green sweater. Cute new denim jacket!

I finally got to wear my Joe’s shorts yesterday!!

  6. Love the espadrilles! They are way cute. And I like the rolled up jeans in the first outfit. I need some straight leg jeans to try that look. But yeah, budget crunch big time for the time being. Maybe for my birthday in August. Goodness knows it will be hot enough for the look through October probably. 😉

  7. Oh man! I have just gotten into the skinny jeans and I must say, you are a much braver lady than I. I am not sure that I could ever go white (wish I could though!)
I have been doing the same thing with my straight leg jeans. I think it makes them look casual, yet adds a little extra something with the contrast.

  8. Hey there! I hopped over here from your What I Wore link up 🙂

I love your outfits! You look so well put together! The skirt is fabulous!

  9. So you are wearing my favorites…that skirt is awesome…plus orange and green in those bright shades are to…die…for!

  10. You are so stylish Jo-Lynne! I always love what you wear. You’ve certainly found the right styles for you. And love ALL your shoes especially! 😀

  11. That green top is my FAVORITE on you. And – wow – you look SKINNY in those white jeans.

Also – I like that sweater/tank set from LOFT. Want to save it and give it to me? 🙂
