Winter Skincare Solution: Olay Luminous Whip Facial Moisturizer

Wintertime skin, gotta love it!

That itchy, flaky, scaly, tight, dry wintertime skin that rears its ugly head this time of year feels all too familiar after living the better part of my adult live above the Mason-Dixon line.

I’m sure my recent return to running in single digit temperatures and a stinging wind hasn’t helped matters. I love those endorphins, but I sure could do without the cold, dry air attacking my aging skin.

Then I come back inside and sit at my desk beside a space heater that blasts me with hot air all day long. I know it’s drying, but it feels so good.

Did you know that central heating can reduce air humidity levels to the same moisture content as the Sahara Desert? (That’s a relative humidity of just 20-25%.) Yeah, about those #winterskinproblems!

Well, guess what? Olay has a moisturizer for that.

As a part of my 6-month partnership with Olay, I’ve been invited to try a product from their new Whip collection: Olay Luminous Whip Facial Moisturizer.

This came at the perfect time because as I shared last week, I’ve been noticing flakiness under my makeup and tightness after washing my face ever since the holidays, and that means it’s time to up the ante with a heavier facial moisturizer.

But you know how some heavy duty moisturizers are heavy and sticky? Not so with Olay Whips. Olay Whips are formulated to work and feel differently, to deliver powerful hydration with a smooth matte finish that feels light as air.

I noticed it the first time I scooped some out onto my finger. It feels creamy and smooth as you apply it to your skin and soaks in almost immediately, but it’s designed to be as effective at combatting dry skin as heavier moisturizers because it’s formulated to hold and quickly release 1000x its weight in hydration and active ingredients.

The idea is that all the moisture and nutrients your skin yearns for during the winter months is instantly absorbed into the skin rather than creating a greasy film and sitting on top of it like some heavy moisturizers do. It leaves your skin with a smooth matte finish and not at all shiny or greasy.

Best of all, I wake up the next morning with skin that still feels soft and luminous… ha! No pun intended. I actually wrote that and then looked back at the name of the product. It really does live up to its name.

Olay Luminous is also formulated to brighten your skin and even out your skin tone as well as minimizing the appearance of pores. Yes, please!

If you’ve been looking for a skincare solution for your winter skin, Olay’s patented whipped facial moisturizer is a great place to start. Best of all, it won’t break the bank. This moisturizer retails for $29.99, and you can buy it online at Olay.com or at your neighborhood drugstore.

  1. Thanks for the info about the Olay moisturizer! You gave a review on the Olay Total Effects awhile back – which one do you like better? I want to try one of those and the hydrating eye gel. I have been using the exfoliating cleanser with the micro beads for years and I love it. It really gets my face clean, removes make up and never makes it feel tight or dry.

  2. I can’t wait to try this.  I’m hurrying as fast as I can to use up some products so I can try a few new ones.  A friend of mine uses the Olay Eyes (not the one you mentioned last week, but the one in the tan pot).  The results are almost immediate and make her puffiness and circles decrease significantly!

  3. Your skin looks so pretty!!  I know you are in your forties but I would never guess it!  I just turned 30 and while I’ve been fortunate that my skin looks younger than that, I have several friends my age that already have pretty noticeable crows feet.  Eeek!!  You don’t seem to have any though!  Do you have any specific products you use around your eyes or have any general tips for us younger girls to prevent getting them so early?  Hope my skin still looks as pretty as yours when I hit 40!

    1. Aww, thank you. I think it is part good genetics and part that I’ve taken good care of my skin my whole life. My mom had me using good skincare from high school and I’ve always been diligent about taking off my makeup at night and moisturizing. I’ve used various products thru the years so I can’t credit anything in particular. Obviously the sunscreen thing is huge too. I can’t say I was super diligent about keeping sunscreen on my face, but definitely have been better about it in the past 10 years. I do have some bags under my eyes but the “crows feet” aren’t too bad yet.

  4. I LOVE this moisturizer…I look forward to using it every morning and evening.  It takes very little and covers so well.  It is light and has a clean smell…great for my sensitive skin.   I’ve been using it for almost a month as I was noticing winter dry patches on my face and now my skin looks and feels great!

  5. I bought the Whip. I love the way it feels when you put it on, and your makeup slides on nicely. I liked it so much I went out and picked up the night cream, too. I’m a bit of a cream junkie.

  6. I tried to purchase this at CVS but they didn’t have. I checked on Amazon and the one they have has sunscreen. Does the one you showed.
