Welcome back to my weekly Fashion Over 40 post where I share what I wore this week and link up with other fabulous fashion bloggers around the web! I’m just a mom trying to stay fabulous after 40 and sharing how I translate the current trends to work for a typical suburban mom. I hope you find some fashion inspiration here.
I apologize for this post getting up so late . . . not that I expect anyone is sitting around waiting for it. I’m getting a slow start to this new year. I haven’t gotten back to my early morning waking routine since being sick, and usually I try to work a few days ahead, but see prior sentence about getting back on track after being sick. Hopefully I’ll be back on track soon.
I spent the first half of the past week in bed or schlumping around the house in pjs, but I’m finally getting my mojo back. I have a few outfits to share with you.
Casual Chic
I wore this outfit on Sunday to go out to eat with the family. It was the first day I ventured out after being sick, and I wore my NEW!! cashmere hoodie. I could NOT let the 60% off sale at Ann Taylor go to waste, so I added two new sweaters to my cashmere collection. In recent years, I’ve been buying cheaper cashmere at Nordstrom, and it pills. I had to get rid of two sweaters this season that were only a couple of years old, whereas my Ann Taylor cashmere that I’ve had for years is still going strong. I’ve decided that it’s worth the investment to buy the better stuff. And at 60% off . . . well, it was a duh moment, really. (By the way, they STILL have a great sale on their cashmere going on right now.)
I thought the lavender tank was pretty with the grey. It’s cool and wintry. I wore my AG cigarette leg jeans and my trusty ol’ Sketchers. I am so over this foot brace, y’all!
Shop this look: Ann Taylor Cashmere Hoodie (ON SALE for $80!!!!) // AG Stilt Cigarette Legging // Lakin Teardrop Earrings from my Stella & Dot boutique // God’s Heart for You Necklace // Sketchers Felicity ballet flats // R Minkoff Mini MAC Crossbody (current colors)
Activewear Can Be Cute!
I wore this outfit on Monday, getting back in the groove and working from home. No sense dressing up, I wasn’t going anywhere. Nothing I wore has current shopping links except the jewelry. The puffer vest was from a short collab I did with Goodnight Macaroon that sort of fizzled. The teal top and yoga pants are from Athleta.
Can you tell how cold I was?? My nose immediately turned red the second I stepped outside! But I’m determined to get outdoor pictures when I can. They always look so much better than the ones I take in my house.
Snow Day
This is the outfit I wore yesterday. I got to visit the dentist AND my orthopedist all in the same day. Good times!! (Three more weeks of the brace for me. Ugh.)
It was (obviously) snowing so I wanted to be warm. I pulled on my CAbi zipper pullover and a pair of light-wash skinny jeans for some contrast. I couldn’t find my favorite grey tank so I settled for this one in army green. I added a long pendant because the sweater is rather plain.
I managed to fit my foot brace into my SOREL boots, so that was a yay moment. I’m so tired of wearing sneakers, yo! And I held my Tory Burch Amanda bag just for the photo because it matches the boots too perfectly! But then I ended up carrying my new one (shown above) because it already had my stuff in it, and I’m quite sure the dentist doesn’t care about my perfectly coordinating handbag and snowboots.
The silver cuff bracelet was my Christmas gift from my husband that he picked out himself. I’ve worn it every day that I’ve left the house since. It has a LITTLE hint of gold on the cuff, so that’s enough for me to warrant wearing it with either silver or gold accessories.
Shop this look: zipper pullover c/o CAbi // jeans via Stitch Fix (similar) // SOREL Tofino Cate boots c/o Zappo’s // necklace c/o Rocksbox // Tory Burch Amanda crossbody (only available in black)
As usual, I’m linking up with The Pleated Poppy and Get Your Pretty On.

Love the hoodie! A love my Skechers too. But, as I have said before, I swoon over the boots! Hope you have a terrific week!
Love the snowy picture of you–you look so pretty. i also really like your necklace with that outfit.
Thank you. I felt like an idiot, but I like how they turned out. 🙂
Hubs hit it out of the park with the bracelet – LOVE!
Thanks! Me too! 🙂
I was soooo tempted to grab a cashmere sweater at Ann Taylor black friday weekend. But, as great a deal as it was, I don’t think I can justify wearing cashmere with a toddler. Dry cleaning is not in my vocabulary at the moment… But I know to check next year!
yeah, not such a good idea with toddlers 🙂
Love your outfits! I really love the NEW new look for your blog. I always enjoy your posts!
Thank you so much!!
You wear snowflakes so well…and everything else. Love that you are wearing active wear and then that little gray sweatshirt/hoodie. I just can’t see getting all dressed up to sit home with my kitties. I do brush my hair and teeth! Great looks.
haha. hair and teeth brushing are most definitely required. 😉
Love, love, love the SOREL boots, but I live in Arizona…sigh
LOL. You should visit Flagstaff each week. 🙂
Very nice! Snow is so pretty to look at.

Love that CAbi sweater! i tried it on and couldn’t decide, but in the end I decided I would only have a few days in Texas when I could wear it. Wouldn’t you know it we are sitting in the 30’s all week!
Haha! Always the way…
Your snow day photos are so pretty! Love the zippers on your sweater! Hope you are feeling better!

Hope the next three weeks go fast for you.
