Plaid Statement Coat

I ordered this plaid wool blend coat on a whim, and I didn’t expect much from this brand, but I actually love it!

coat (S) // sweater (S) // jeans (28) // mules c/o (7.5) // bag // sunnies (option) // bracelet c/o // necklace c/o // earrings

I usually feel like long wool coats like this wear me, rather than me wearing them, but this one has such a nice streamlined silhouette.

There is no big collar or oversized lapels, no belt or anything to add extra bulk. Plus, the neutral color palette is gorgeous, and it looks and feels like a quality coat. It’s fully lined and runs true to size.

I wore it last week to meet a friend for lunch over a rust colored sweater and grey jeans, but today’s outfit is inspired by the neutral tones in the coat.

This Vince wool/cashmere crewneck is such a great closet basic, and these Madewell slim demi boot jeans in the faded black wash are right on trend. Both are true to size as well.

Because the components of this outfit are all fairly plain, I relied on the coat to add pattern and texture, and I also added gold chain link hoop earrings and a pearl station necklace.

The necklace is from Victoria Emerson, but I can’t find it online. It could be that it’s not online yet, or it could be sold out. I will keep checking.

I also stacked two Victoria Emerson bracelets, the Parker on Natural and a mini boho cuff that also isn’t on the website yet.

I just love how this neutral plaid coat completes an outfit. I was never one to own more than one dressy winter coat, but as I get older, I realize how having a few coat options  keeps your looks polished and sophisticated even when wearing very simple pieces… or maybe especially when wearing very simple pieces!

If you feel like a longer coat like this one is a bit much for your personal style or the area where you live, you can get the same effect out of a shorter coat. And of course, it doesn’t have to be plaid, but I do think it’s fun to have one print in your collection.

FYI, Macy’s is having a Friends & Family Sale, where you save an extra 30% off most departments throughout the store and 15% off Beauty!

  1. I love the coat…and that price point! Now, I’m inspired to search for one with petite sizing – I’m 5’2″ – and most coats/jackets are too long, especially in the sleeves. Great outfit, too!
Oh, and let’s not forget to mention how awesome Angie (Hot and Flashy) is!! Such a wealth of information!
    Have a great day!

  2. This is such a pretty outfit and you look so nice and chic! Evidently your body is in need of more sleep these days and you are listening. Have a great day!

  3. Such a lovely coat but I would really love to see it buttoned up (I know, you’re rolling you eyes at me!!HAHA). I usually size up on coats like this since I want to be able to button it if needed. I see you are wearing the small, just wondering if it pulls when buttoned? It’s interesting, I even went to the Evereve website and I could hardly see what the buttons look like! The neutral plaid is very pretty and would look wonderful dressed up with black trousers and tall boots, or a dress.

  4. I absolutely love that coat! However, here in AZ, I would never wear it. That being said, I’ll be on the lookout for a lighter option to elevate my style, you are such an inspiration!
Funny, went down the Angi Hot and Flashy rabbit hole last night! Then Dominique Sachse Be Bold Be Blessed! You ladies are all amazing! 💓

  5. I absolutely love that coat! I can never have too many coats! I looked on Evereve and I only see a tan version. Yours looks gray. Now I’m obsessed looking for it. I’m also on the hunt for a light camel colored car length coat that will be timeless and chic, but can go with jeans,🤣. My goal is to become more of a minimalist in my wardrobe. Ha! Like that will ever happen. I enjoy your blog so much! You have style and are so appreciated.

    1. Maybe it looks more grey in the photos, but it is the tan one that is on Evereve website. 🙂 I like the idea of a minimalist wardrobe too, but the older I get and the more investment pieces I accumulate, the less I can part with at the end of each season. It’s a problem! ha!
