The Best Quince Pieces for Winter: Quality Staples at Great Prices

A few weeks ago, I ordered the Quince Cashmere Oversized Crewneck Sweater on a whim. It looked so cozy on the model, and I was drawn to the chunky, relaxed styling and the wide ribbed neckline. I sorted through the colors and kept coming back to the Heather Truffle Brown—a rich seasonal tone with subtle variation in the knit that gives it depth and texture.

Let’s just say, it did not disappoint! I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve worn it since it arrived less than a month ago. It’s the perfect easy, throw-on-and-go topper for my favorite jeans and mules, sneakers, or boots… I’ve worn it with all of the above.

It’s not unusual for me to reach for the same jeans two or three days in a row, but it’s rare for a sweater to get that much airtime in my rotation. I have plenty of sweaters I love, but this one is that perfect casual piece: easy enough for work-from-home days, yet polished enough to wear out for errands or casual get-togethers. The quality is good, but the price point is accessible—it looks and feels much more luxe than the cost would suggest.

FIT TIP: I usually size up to a medium in Quince sweaters, but because of the oversized design, I ordered the small in this one and it’s perfect. I wouldn’t want it any bigger. It’s longer than most of the sweaters I typically wear, but the proportion works with the casual, relaxed styling. For that reason, I like it best with full-length jeans—it helps keep everything in balance.

Quince is known for that sweet spot of quality staples at great prices, so I thought I’d round up a few more of my top picks. They make really good knitwear, and I’ve been pleasantly surprised by their $50 jeans—the Bella Relaxed Straight is my favorite so far.

They have a ’90s-inspired vintage look with just the right amount of stretch, a high-rise waist, and a relaxed leg for an easy, laid-back vibe. Even better, they come in five washes and four inseam lengths, so there’s a fit for almost everyone.

Their outerwear is impressive, too. I’ve only tried their Scarf Coat so far, but it’s such a beautiful piece. The embroidery along the edges is subtle, especially on my black one, but in person it adds this really pretty, artisanal touch.

Their Down Long Puffer is another standout; it looks remarkably similar to my Aritzia Super Puff Long, so if that one was on your wish list, the Quince version could be a great alternative. I’ve also got my eye on the Italian Wool Classic Single-Breasted Coat in Dark Chocolate—brown coats are a major trend this season.

If you missed it, I rounded up seven fashion trends to consider adding to your winter wardrobe!

Quince has some great handbags as well. I had the Box Bag before I decided to invest in the Celine, and it’s a great piece—simple, structured, and easy to wear with so many outfits. They also offer several other designer-inspired styles that look chic without the high price tag.

Quince also has a surprisingly good menswear selection, so I pulled together a few favorites from that category too. You’ll find both edits below—my recommended Quince pieces for winter. If you have any of these, I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Fit & Sizing Notes

In general, I find Quince sweaters run a little small, so I usually go with a medium unless the style is intentionally oversized, like the Mongolian Cashmere Oversized Crewneck. Their jeans also run on the smaller side. I’m between a 29 and 30 these days, and I’ve needed every bit of the 30 in the pairs I’ve tried. Coats seem to run true to size with room for layering, but if in doubt, I always recommend sizing up in outerwear.

Frequently Asked Questions About Quince

Since Quince has become so popular recently, I often get questions about sizing, quality, and which pieces I actually recommend. I rounded up a few of the most common ones below to make things easier.

Is Quince good quality?

From what I’ve tried, the quality is quite good for the price point. Their sweaters feel soft and look more luxe than the price would suggest. Their jeans have a nice fit and feel, and their outerwear looks more elevated in person than I expected. I wouldn’t say they’re comparable to the true luxury designers they take inspiration from, but the quality is solid for what you pay. My favorite pieces so far have definitely been their sweaters.

Do Quince sweaters run true to size?

In my experience, they run a little small. I usually take a medium unless the style is intentionally oversized.

How do Quince jeans fit?

Their denim runs a bit small. I’m between a 29 and 30 these days, and I’ve needed the 30 in the pairs I’ve tried. The Bella Relaxed Straight in Atlantic Blue is my favorite so far—it has a ’90s-inspired look with a comfortable amount of stretch.

Are Quince coats warm and worth the price?

Yes. Their wool coats have a clean, classic look (I have the Scarf Coat in Black), and their Responsible Down Puffer and Down Long Puffer look like great budget-friendly alternatives to higher-end brands.

What are the best Quince pieces for winter?

My top recommendations are: their cashmere sweaters, the Bella Relaxed Straight Jeans, their wool coats, and I’ve also heard great things about their Water Repellent Suede Clog Mules. I’ve rounded up my full list of favorites in the widgets above.

Is Quince good for tall or petite sizes?

Yes—especially in denim. Their jeans come in multiple inseam lengths, which makes it easier to get a good fit without hemming.

I hope this was helpful! If you have any Quince favorites or pieces you think I should try next, let me know in the comments.

  1. Love Quince! I started buying their clothing a couple years ago and I am very impressed. They are my go to for wardrobe staples. I also have purchased several shoes from them (including those fabulous waterproof clogs) and have been equally impressed. They also have an easy and free return policy. I love that full-length coat, but it’s too warm here to justify that purchase. Boo-hoo.

  2. I LOVE Quince! I have a few of their handbags (quilted, suede, (and leather from when they were still Last Brand)), their sweaters, and outerwear. This fall I treated myself to the suede biker jacket and it is so comfortable, not at all stiff. My favorite sweater is the Mongolian Cashmere Fisherman Crewneck Sweater. I sized up in it (M to L) for that extra cozy fit. I also really like their Washable Stretch Silk Notch Collar Blouses. Oh, and they’re candles and bedding is great too. After typing all of this, I think I may have a Quince addiction, ha! Quince can definitely take all of my money LOL!

  3. Great suggestions for Quince. I’ve bought their king size cooling sheets and luggage that looks just like Away luggage. It’s much better than Away! The sheets are thinner but the cooling effect is excellent and fit a king bed perfectly. Quince is a great place to comparison shop and buy great pieces within a budget.

  4. Thank you Jo-Lynne! I love Quince. I have their version of the “Away Carry-On” suitcase, if you haven’t tried it, – I think it’s great. It’s VERY similar to Away’s. I would love it if you’re able to add Quince to your “shop my favorites” section! 🙂

  5. I tried Quince for the first time in the Spring, buying the Crew Fisherman sweater in all organic cotton and love it. Its thick knit and well made and I bought it in Ivory and Black. I can’t wear wool, so I’m able to still wear these now and perfect weight. I usually wear XS to SM in sweaters and took XS in these as the arms were too long and sweater too baggy in the SM, for what I wanted. Then I tried their denim and landed on the Bella Stretch Straight in 28×26. They are alittle wider leg than I’d say for straight which is perfect, making them look more modern and I am 5’3″ so bought the 26 length and its perfect slightly crop on me and I love them with the Target stripe socks you posted and my clogs etc. I did size up in these as I normally wear 27 and I bought the 28. I think you’d like the fit of these as they are not as baggy as the relaxed straight you like, so something different but similar. I’ll really like these later with sandIes. I definitely have been happy with the quality of Quince and LOVE their easy 365 day free return policy.

  6. I have that exact cashmere sweater in the charcoal color & love it! I am actually wearing it right now! I’ve been purchasing from Quince for several years. The quality is excellent for the price point. I have multiple pieces: cashmere sweaters, organic cotton sweaters, pants, jewelry items, silk dresses & blouses, leather bags & leather jackets. My brown leather jacket was a Christmas gift from my husband last year and it rivals the quality of my AllSaints jackets. I purchased a beautiful brown Italian suede shopper tote in September that is gorgeous. I think I must have a Quince addiction, too!

  7. I really like the look of this sweater but would really like it in cotton. Any recommendations for something similar in style and not cashmere?

    1. Jennifer, Quince has cotton sweaters that are very similar styles to their cashmere sweaters. Just type “cotton sweaters” in the search bar! Many styles like crew neck, v-neck, cardigans, and johnny collars.

  8. I love Quince and have gotten a few things there. Unfortunately, the heather brown truffle color isn’t listed so I’ll keep checking to see if it restocks. I looked at the Icewear site and found your sweater called Àsbyrgi in gray, I think at $260 that will be on a maybe some day wish list! Thanks for the great finds, as always, Jo Lynne!

  9. I had an excellent engagement with Quince for a return for a different size. Unbeatable customer service, I was very surprised as it was my first Quince purchase. I would suggest the route I went–I did a “chat” with a rep online about a size exchange–he was so fast and accurate–he handled everything–and I got an e-mail of the new pair–clearly showing the zero balance and shipping was fast! Very pleased.

  10. I have been very happy with most of my Quince pieces – cashmere and cotton sweaters, clog mules are great, and their wide-leg jeans. I also love their luggage – highly recommend. The only thing I didn’t end up loving was white jeans, but in fairness, I have a very hard time with most white jeans.

  11. Do you find the Quince Bella relaxed straight jeans to be more, less or equally as baggy in the legs (thigh area) as the Kut From The Kloth Selena baggy straight leg you showed the other day? I was looking for a straight leg with wider leg opening at the bottom but found those too baggy in the thigh area after ordering them. Still on the hunt for a pair of washed black (greyish) color. Haven’t found one I liked yet. Also, I have bought a few of the Quince bags (similar to the Clare V) and love them! Good quality for half the price.

    1. I dry clean all my cashmere, no matter what the washing instructions say. And all cashmere pills eventually. It’s just the nature of the material. I haven’t noticed this one pilling yet.

      1. I bought Quince’s cashmere comb and have been using that on all my cashmere sweaters. Works great to remove the pills without harming the fabric!

  12. Thanks for a great post. I haven’t had as much luck with the fit of Quince items as most people. I agree with you that most of their sweaters run small. I received the crewneck cashmere as a gift but the small felt a little tight so I sized up to a medium since I wanted to be able to wear a blouse under it. I have a tank dress that I love but it also runs on the small side as well as the cashmere t-shirt. Their return policy is generous but only if the tags are still on the item. I wanted to exchange the tank dress but was told I couldn’t because I cut the tags off. I’m reluctant to try their jeans although the price point is good.

    1. I think it depends on what you’re comparing it to. I agree, I had to size up in all of their classic fit sweaters. I even ended up with a large in the short sleeve cashmere tee last spring for England (the stripe one, not the grey one in this post – that photo is a couple years old when I was not quite as fluffy as I am now, lol.)

Good to know about their return policy. I’ll keep that in mind! As far as the jeans, for $50, they are good jeans. They do not feel like $200 jeans. Ya know? So it’s really a matter of what you’re used to. They’re definitely worth a try!

  13. I have a few basics from Quince. Cashmere tee, silk midi skirt. And gold hoop earrings. I only look at the items that are in their “petite friendly” section. The quality is good, and returns are very easy!

  14. I’m always looking for brands that include the actual measurements of the item so that I can avoid so many returns. I’ve found with Quince that although the measurements aren’t available on the website, they are readily available through CHAT or email.

  15. Love my Quince sweaters, but as a tall girl, I find that the sleeves are on the shorter side, especially in the cashmere versions.

  16. I’ve been loving Quince lately! Thanks for introducing me to it! Love my Bella jeans especially. I wear them all the time. I do enjoy their sweaters also. Agree with all you said about their sizing.

  17. I’ve been purchasing from Quince for a few years. This is the wrong season for most of us right now, but their linen pieces are excellent. I already had several Quince linen items, but bought more for my husband and me for a 12-day trip to Egypt where it was over 100 degrees F each day. I was so pleased with their durability and ability to keep us cool while spending hours outside each day — at least reasonably cool! I do feel that Quince could update its style. I find many shirts and sweaters too long, and some pieces just look dumpy on me, but their return policy is such that I’m willing to take a chance on items that catch my eye.

  18. I ordered the Bella Straight leg in faded black (not relaxed) and kept the ones two sizes smaller than my normal size. My frustration was that of the 3 pairs of the same style and wash (different sizes) I ordered, each of them had a different fabric content which affects the fit and stretch. Plus the inseam length was supposed to be 30” but was more like 29”-29 3/4”. I kept the longest pair and smallest size. All this to say that quality control may be lacking and it makes it harder to shop online.
